Chapter 582: Dissecting the Beast
Sol was suddenly attacked by a purple-black strip of meat, but for him, it finally ended his boring journey.
"Want to compete with me in tentacles?" Thor didn't even move. The small algae behind his neck suddenly emerged, split into ten in the air, and quickly drilled into the land around Thor's body.
Thor felt the strips of flesh that were entangled with him immediately loosen his legs and run away downwards.
Thor pressed his hands on the ground and with a little force, he pulled his legs out.
Looking at the big hole on the ground that was getting smaller and smaller, he took two steps back and waited for Xiaozao to return.
After a few breaths, the sand under his feet began to vibrate, and the rumbling sound caused the nearby ground to shake.
The algae tensed, then pulled, and slowly pulled itself out of the ground.
The tangled vines encircled a huge clod of earth, which gradually emerged from the ground. The dark grey dust on the clod of earth fell down, forming waterfalls of sand.
A large amount of dust flew all over the sky, and for a moment visibility dropped to less than one meter.
Thor held his breath, narrowed his eyes, and waited for the big monster in the soil to appear.
Finally, after most of the soil was shaken off by the algae, a huge beast three meters long appeared inside the criss-crossing black vines.
This beast has a huge mouth and a relatively thin body and limbs. It looks as if only its mouth can eat, and the other limbs are almost degenerated.
The purple-red strip of flesh that once wrapped around Thor's right leg was its tongue.
When it was pulled out of the ground by Xiaozao, it immediately stretched out its most powerful weapon, which was its tongue, and tried its best to tear Xiaozao's vines.
But the small algae now is no match for ordinary beasts.
When the unknown beast saw that one tongue could not break free from Xiaozao's restraints, four more tongues suddenly emerged from its mouth.
Five tongues entangled different vines and pulled in different directions, as if trying to break free from Xiao Zao with brute force.
But its resistance still failed.
"Okay, Xiaozao, let it go first."
The algae, which was originally tangled like a ball of yarn, was quickly retracted. The huge beast immediately fell to the ground, stirring up a cloud of dust again.
As soon as the beast landed on the ground, it was about to burrow into the ground, but Thor grabbed it by the tail and threw it over his shoulder, throwing it backwards.
While the beast was lying on its back, Thor jumped directly onto its white belly and stepped hard on the beast's huge mouth with one foot, preventing it from opening its mouth to attack Thor.
He had already seen that this beast usually hunted by vibration, hiding under the sand, and except for its mouth, its other limbs were short and weak.
Even digging pits and ambushing rely on the mouth and the resilient and flexible tongue inside.
Just as Thor was about to check on the beast, his mental power attached to the compass transmitted back a signal that the Chaos Domain Compass had cooled down.
Thor lowered his head and estimated the time. It should be less than a day, about 20 to 22 hours.
The beast under his feet was patting the ground with its tiny limbs while Thor was not paying attention.
The rhythmic pattern seems to tap with purpose.
"Is it asking its companions for help? But a group of this kind of creature shouldn't move very fast, right?"
Thor thought about it and decided not to wait for the second beast to appear. He directly activated the Chaos Compass and returned to the wizard's main world.
Thor looked up and saw the mushroom forest in the distance and the wizard tower nestled in the misty white fog.
"Not bad, nothing unexpected happened, and we got back safely."
Thor raised his foot, and the long-tongued and big-mouthed monster that had once attacked him came back with him.
But now he was motionless. Upon closer inspection, I found that he was already dead.
Thor scanned the monster with his mental power and found that there were many more active elemental particles in the monster's body.
"That's right. Just like there is water pressure underwater, there is also elemental pressure in places where the concentration of elemental particles varies greatly. I felt uncomfortable when I entered a chaotic area without active elements. It was like suddenly entering a no-man's land filled with a large number of elemental particles from a place without active elements. It was like suddenly entering the deep sea from the surface of the sea, and being crushed to death."
Xiao Zao ran out again, passed through the beast's mouth, circled around his huge head several times, and hung the beast directly in the air.
It seemed as if Thor had just returned from a hunting trip.
On the Rhine Lake, a huge figure walked on the ice. The butler was the first to come out of the wizard tower, looking up at the huge beast, and his mouth opened slightly.
"Welcome back, Master of the Tower, but I didn't know you were out hunting."
Thor barely moved the beast from the stairwell to the basement. Just as he cleared a lab table and put the beast on it, he saw several conscious beings and the old witch running over curiously.
Although Camus didn't say anything, he looked at the newly appeared monster.
"Where was this beast hunted from? There seems to be no magical fluctuation in its body, but it looks so strange. I have never seen it before." The old witch came forward and poked the beast's head with her finger.
"I hunted it from a place you've never been to. But it is indeed a little special, so I will study it later."
Thor skillfully dissected the beast and examined its body structure.
"The body is made up of a lot of cartilage," Agu assisted. "It doesn't seem to use its body much for hunting."
"Well," Thor answered casually, examining the blood and flesh, "lying flat for too long."
He then proceeded to dissect the beast's head.
Its bones are hard and its skull is somewhat similar to that of a snake, so it can devour prey that is larger than its head.
As he was dismantling the things, Thor suddenly grabbed the beast's five black and purple tongues and slowly pulled them out along its throat.
The root of the beast's tongue is not in the mouth, but in the esophagus, connected to it by a grape-shaped tumor.
When Thor tried to cut the tumor with a knife, he was shocked to find that the inside of the tumor was moving.
He put a layer of protection on the laboratory table and then began to cut the tumor, but the sharp knife could not leave any wound on the tumor.
Thor changed to two more sharp tools, but still failed to cut the tumor.
The old witch stretched out a finger, and the tip of her finger instantly transformed into a blade. "Do you need my help?"
Thor shook his head and said, "It's not a problem of tools."
He snapped his fingers, and a black blade fragment appeared at his fingertips.
With a light stroke of his finger, the tumor that was originally impossible to cut was easily separated like cheese, revealing the tofu-like texture inside.
Thor took out a stirring stick, stirred it a bit, and then held it up to his eyes.
"The substance inside doesn't seem to be completely inactivated yet." Thor wiped the substance on the stirring rod into the test tube and handed it to Agu, "Go and test the basic properties. Also, make sure it is sealed and don't let the substance inside leak out to the outside world."
Agu naturally knew where Thor brought the beast back from. He said nothing, but just nodded cautiously.
"Do you suspect that the beast is poisonous?" asked the old witch.
Thor said: "This tumor can be the last organ in the beast to die. There must be something special. It's always better to be careful."
Hearing this, the old witch looked at the tumor on the beast's body with much more enthusiasm.
Seeing this, Thor immediately told Agu, "Destroy the sample immediately after the test."
The old witch rolled her eyes.
Then Thor looked at the remaining stirring stick in his hand and found that there seemed to be some black particles on it.
He extracted the particles and found that they broke into smaller powders when touched.
This scene looks so familiar.
Thor immediately took out two small bottles from his body.
Both bottles were filled with black powder, one with more and one with less.
The two bottles contain sand from the chaotic area and floating objects in the air respectively.
Sol used existing tools to simply test the three powders and found that their physical properties were surprisingly consistent.
"Could it be that this organ of the beast is used to filter out the black dust that enters the body?"
Suddenly, Thor's thoughts were interrupted by Camus.
She stared at the petri dish on Thor's desk with wide eyes, "How come there is a dormant form of the pollution source in that beast?"
"What?" Thor and the others turned around at the same time, shocked by the information in Camus' words.
Camus pursed his lips, with a rare look of confusion on his face. "You can check the pollution sources that you sealed with your tentacles. If the sealing time is long enough, the pollution source will enter a dormant state. Then its shape should be consistent with the black powder in your hand."
Thor: “…Fuck!”
