Chapter 701 You are free
Dark and damp.
Water droplets hit the glass window, forming a slanted water line.
There were more and more water lines, accompanied by a "crackling" sound, and then a "splashing" sound.
The sounds became louder and more frequent.
It's raining.
Heywood raised his head from the desk and stared blankly at the gloomy sky outside the window and the strings of black raindrops below it.
The absorbent pen in his hand was covered with ink, and due to gravity, it was rapidly condensing into a ball of ink drops that were about to fall onto the turmeric-colored parchment.
"It's raining again. There's a lot of rain this year."
The ink finally couldn't hold anymore and started dripping from the tip of the pen.
“Swish!”
A long, thin black tongue suddenly stretched out, rolled up the drop of ink, and shrank into a pitch-black face where no facial features could be seen.
"You're daydreaming again."
The black shadow sat down on the parchment that she had just protected, not caring at all whether the parchment would be wrinkled by her.
"It doesn't matter if there's a lot of rain. What does it have to do with us? That's something that only the high-level wizards on the Wall of Sighs need to worry about."
As his sister Heidi blocked the parchment he was writing on, Heywood simply threw the pen back into the pen holder.
He leaned back and said helplessly: "Yes, no matter how much rain there is, it is not something that we two wizard apprentices can solve."
It has been several years since Heywood came to the Wall of Sighs, but he still has not broken through the boundary between apprentice and official wizard.
The only change that had occurred to him over the years was that his sister Heidi had been separated from him and transformed into a black silhouette, imitating the appearance of Mrs. Euler.
Although she still didn't look completely like a normal person, at least Heidi had a brief period of freedom in which she could move independently.
All she had to do was return to her brother Haywood every once in a while to replenish her depleted mental energy.
The two have accepted the fact that they cannot become official wizards, and have lived peacefully for a long time in this dangerous sea under the protection of mentor Gorza.
But Haywood has been feeling uneasy lately.
He didn't know why, but ever since Golsa came back from outside last year, he always felt that his peaceful days were coming to an end.
A month ago, Gorza asked for leave from Wizard Murphy, the owner of the Wall of Sighs, and retreated to the lowest level of the Wizard Tower to conduct experiments. He did not even come out to fight during the most recent black tide attack.
Haywood knew that this time, Mentor Gorsa would achieve his long-cherished goal.
This time, no one else knew the progress of the experiment. Even Heywood, who had been following Golsa, was not clear.
But what he did know was that Gorza would no longer let anyone get in the way of his experiments.
This time, Golsa did not ask any third person to help him throughout the process.
"Maybe this time, Mrs. Euler can really be resurrected." Heywood paused and looked at his sister who was like a black silhouette beside him. "Heidi, do you want to be resurrected?"
The featureless black shadow let out bursts of sneering laughs, which, in the world of ordinary people, would be enough to scare a few timid humans to death.
“Hahaha, hahaha, resurrection? I’m fine now, why should I be resurrected? If I have to become a miserable person just to be resurrected, then I’d rather be a vengeful spirit happily.”
Heywood was stunned, because he had no ability to revive Heidi. Therefore, he had never asked this question before.
But today, he was inexplicably inspired and did not expect that Heidi would have this idea.
Even Heidi could see how painful it was for Mrs. Euler who was constantly conducting resurrection experiments. How could Teacher Gorza not see it?
So, did Mentor Gorza really choose to resurrect his wife because he loved her?
A painful, sharp cry came from underground.
Haywood and Heidi looked at each other, their bodies trembling slightly. The fear, along with the scream just now, slowly seeped into their blood vessels.
The two of them lowered their heads at the same time, pretending as usual that they heard nothing.
However, the screams, which usually lasted for several minutes, only sounded once today.
Outside the Wall of Sighs, at the bottom of the Seventh Wizard Tower.
Gorza shook the test tube in his hand, then took out a long dropper and dropped a drop of liquid on the forehead of the woman on the laboratory table.
The colorless and transparent liquid instantly sank under the fair skin.
“Uhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!”
The woman struggled violently, but lying on the witchcraft circle, she couldn't even move her little finger.
Gorsa tilted his head and looked at the woman carefully, not wanting to miss even the slightest change in her.
The strange thing is that today the female test subject only screamed once, then became quiet, staring blankly at the ceiling.
This change also caught Gorsa's attention.
"Has the fusion finally started?" He put on a smile and leaned down, holding the woman's pale cheeks with his slender hands. "Don't sleep. Only when the fusion is complete can it be considered a true resurrection."
The woman's eyes moved tremblingly, and a faint sound came out from her crimson-purple lips.
"resurrection?"
"Yes, the experiment has been going smoothly so far. You will definitely be able to be resurrected successfully this time." Gorsa stood up and checked behind the woman.
On the white, bare skin of the back, there was a brown branch growing out like a seedling breaking through the soil.
The branches followed the holes specially left on the experimental table and drilled into the square box below.
The box contained a gelatinous culture medium, mixed with black and red, exuding a fruity fragrance.
If you observe carefully, you will find that this colloid is vibrating slightly in the rhythm of your heartbeat.
With every tremor, nutrients will be transported along the branches into the woman's body, making it radiate vitality like a real living person.
After confirming that the culture medium was in good condition and had sufficient energy, Golsa looked at the woman again and whispered encouragement.
"Youla, I know you are in pain now, but success is just around the corner. As long as the fusion is completed, you will be free."
"free?"
This long-lost word gave the woman strength. She suddenly opened her eyes and looked at Gorsa intently.
One second, two seconds... one minute, two minutes...
The wind and rain outside the tower could not affect the two people in the basement at all.
finally!
A familiar mental wave emanated from the woman.
Gorsa immediately stepped forward, placed one hand on the woman's forehead, closed his eyes and felt her solid soul.
"Yes, yes, that's it. This body created through the combination of the Black Sea Tree Source and the Red Sea Tree Source is extremely tolerant and has almost no backlash against the entry of souls. Coupled with this...very powerful and extremely overbearing adhesive, your soul has completely merged with this witchcraft creation."
He stood up, his face showing admiration and relief.
"In short, congratulations, you're alive."
The woman, or rather, the finally resurrected Yula, feels the power brought by her new body.
When her soul broke through the last obstacle and completely merged with this artificial body, the feeling of powerlessness just now disappeared.
Instead, I feel full of energy, as if I had woken up from a good sleep.
With a little effort, Youla actually sat up.
The branches behind her were stretched but not broken. The culture medium below was still trembling slightly, like her external heart.
Although there was still some pain in various parts of her body, it could not affect Yula's joy.
Once, for the sake of witchcraft research, Youla easily gave up his life.
Later, when she suffered so much for her resurrection, she realized the preciousness of life.
Yula's eyes felt hot and she felt liquid flowing down the corners of her eyes.
"Even, even tears?"
Yura wiped her eyes with her fingertips and looked at the clear liquid on them, and more tears flowed at once.
“I really came back to life.”
Gorza crossed his arms and smiled, "Okay, don't keep crying, or the culture medium will flow out of your eyes."
Yula was stunned and stood there frozen.
"After all, this body is not a real human body, so it's normal to have some special reactions. You can think of yourself as having changed your race. But you are still Youla."
Yula quickly wiped the tears from her face, feeling empty inside for some reason.
This is obviously a good ending.
Then she heard Golsa's voice again.
Gentle, slow, and firm.
"Now, you are free to leave."
She raised her eyes, her eyes full of confusion.
"What? Leaving what?"
Across from her, her lover in life and her enemy after death repeated it softly.
"Leave my wizard tower. After all... the experiment is over, isn't it?"
