Chapter 76 It's Cool

"It turns out that my vision is pretty good. No matter what your magical aptitude is, your high mental strength is enough to enable you to handle many basic jobs." Nick did not reveal any complacency when he praised himself.

"Yes, Senior Nick has a good eye." Thor thought, "It was he who saw at a glance that my best skill was light element perception, and it was not something I filled in randomly."

"So now that we have reached a consensus, we can work together well, right?" Nick spread his hands and faced Thor.

Thor quickly responded, "I will do my best to cooperate with you, Senior."

Nick nodded slightly, still with no expression, as if he was born without facial expression.

"We've wasted some time. Let's get right into the experiment and explain while we do it. Number one, come in!" Nick put on the earmuffs, raised his voice slightly, and shouted towards the door.

Thor turned around and saw the door of the laboratory being pushed open. A blonde, blue-eyed, expressionless female second-level apprentice walked in.

It was one of the people Thor had seen in Rum's room before. He didn't know when she had been waiting outside the door.

The female apprentice walked in and stood opposite the operating table, facing Senior Nick.

Both of them had no expression, or emotion.

Thor's eyes swirled between the two men, wondering if they were related in some way.

"Don't look at me." Senior Nick gestured to the woman, but he was still talking to Thor, "My situation is different from her and theirs."

Nick asked the beautiful, wooden female apprentice to sit on the high-backed metal chair opposite.

When the slender female apprentice sat on the metal chair, it immediately began to deform.

The tall chair back sank, and two iron rings extended from it, locking the female apprentice's neck and waist.

The two armrests were folded inward, just enough to support the female apprentice's hanging arms and lock her elbows and wrists.

The chair legs also extend out with metal rings that buckle the ankles and knees.

No matter how you look at it, it looks like punishment.

Nick asked Saul to follow him and walked over to teach him how to use the metal chair.

Behind and under the chair, there were ropes hanging like electric wires. The tips of the ropes were very thin, like embroidery needles.

When the female apprentice sat down, Nick walked over and pierced the female apprentice's cheeks, wrists, ankles and other places with the sharp tips.

The ropes looked heavy, with the tips only a few millimeters into the skin. But when Nixon let go, the ropes did not fall due to gravity. Instead, they remained in their original position as if they had consciousness.

While Thor was memorizing the operation techniques, he was thinking about when to discuss the matter with Nick about dealing with the vengeful spirit.

The work started so unexpectedly that he didn't have time to say anything.

The female apprentice had a blank expression on her face and did not react throughout the whole process.

Thor felt that even if Nick did something more terrible at this time, the female apprentice would not resist at all.

After finishing their work, the two of them retreated behind the operating table.

Nick pulled out a round disc made of the same material as the metal chair.

Thor stretched his neck and leaned forward to take a look.

The disc is divided into four areas by a cross, and each area is divided into small grids of different shapes and numbers.

"This is called an induction chair, and this is the corresponding control panel." Nick began to introduce, "The principle of the control panel is relatively complicated and not public knowledge, so you don't need to worry about it. You just need to remember where each sensor rope is tied."

Making sure Sol remembered the previous steps, Nick took out a pen and paper and asked Sol to sit next to him.

"Usually, I mainly record the emotional changes of the test subjects to sense their response to the stimulation of the electric induction chair. In a moment, you will use your method to record the performance of the test subjects."

Nick gently tossed the disc in his hand up and then put it down. Suddenly, a blue electric light lit up from the inside of the entire control panel, flashed across the entire panel, and finally returned to silence.

Thor's left fingertips unconsciously tucked into his sleeve.

Electricity, the nemesis of plastic bones.

"Actually, I'm quite curious as to why the instructor sent you here to record the test subject's reactions. Have you awakened some strange talent?"

Nick said this curiously, but his eyes didn't even move, as if he was just being polite.

Without waiting for Thor's response, Nick pressed the control dial and said, "Start."

As Nick pressed the buttons, lights began to flash at different positions on the control panel.

Correspondingly, electric currents were transmitted along the ropes of the induction chair to the female apprentice's body, and a faint smell of burning immediately emanated from the female apprentice's body.

The female apprentice immediately frowned, revealing a painful expression. She wanted to arch her back, but was restrained by several iron rings and could not move.

Thor first looked around with his naked eyes and found nothing special.

It was as if the female apprentice had simply received an electric shock.

He then entered a semi-immersive meditative state.

When Thor's eyes fell on the female apprentice again, he was shocked to find that a translucent, gray-white man's face appeared on her face! The man narrowed his eyes slightly, raised the corners of his mouth, and looked very happy.

This face is very similar to the human face formed by the rune array on the female apprentice's back.

"I feel that No. 1 is currently in a happy mood. Have you found anything?" Nick didn't look at the painful expression of the female apprentice, but stared at the control panel and said.

Thor stared at the transparent man's face on the female apprentice's face.

“It’s awesome.”

Nick was stunned and turned to look at Thor, "Your wording is a bit strange, can you describe it in more detail?"

“It’s just very comfortable and relaxing.”

Hearing this, Nick looked down at the control panel in his hand in thought.

After a moment, he suddenly threw the control panel onto the table, bent over it and began to write and draw.

The female apprentice on the electric chair was in so much pain that her facial expression began to twist and a trace of saliva dripped from the corner of her mouth.

The man in her face began to roll his eyes.

"Senior Nick, how about you turn off the electric chair first?"

Nick then came back to his senses and noticed the pain of the female apprentice, but he did not turn off the control panel. Instead, he changed the way of stimulation.

Then, another silver arc danced on the rope.

The pain on the female apprentice's face disappeared in an instant. Her whole body softened and she leaned back in her chair, letting out a light breath.

But in Thor's eyes, the translucent man's face became more and more painful.

His pain felt more like suffocation than electric shock.

He kept opening his mouth, trying hard to breathe, but forgot that he didn't need to breathe.

Thor stared at two different faces at the same time and felt that the man on the female apprentice was probably also a spirit.

A spirit that possesses a female apprentice.

"What I feel this time is pain and fatigue. How about you?" After observing for a while, senior Nick beside him asked again.

"Suffocating," Saul said truthfully, "like a fish being thrown onto the shore."

Nick was thoughtful. This time he didn't rush to record, but turned off the control panel and the electric chair.

"From your perspective, it's indeed clearer than my simple emotional identification." Nick continued his notes.

Thor turned his head to look and found a lot of incomprehensible symbols.

Looking at Nick writing and drawing with great concentration, Thor said as he watched, "Senior Nick is actually more accurate than me in sensing emotions. The performance of the experimental subjects plus my subjective interpretation can easily lead to errors in information transmission."

Nick finished writing the last stroke and looked sideways at Thor, "You don't look like a twelve-year-old."
