Chapter 95: To leave the wizard tower, you have to temporarily turn back into a human.
"I can leave the tower now..." Thor had the illusion that he was about to be released from prison.
He felt like he was flying into the sky like a balloon, yet at the same time he was empty and had no ground to touch.
He thought that he would only get the chance to leave the tower after he was promoted to level two.
If he wants to increase his magic power to 50 joules, it will probably take him half a year.
Unexpectedly, an invitation from senior Byron would bring the time forward.
What task does Senior Byron need his assistance with?
He remembered that he had asked Senior Byron to help him find a more complete soul body. He wondered if this invitation was related to this.
"Are you going to leave the tower?" Keli's voice sounded beside her.
"Yeah." Thor had a smile on his face.
"Oh, that's great. I need to go out for a while, too."
Keli is already a second-level apprentice, so it is not surprising that she can get the mission to leave the tower.
But this was also Keli's first time going out, and Thor asked with concern, "Is it a dangerous mission?"
Kelly shook her head.
She lowered her eyes and said without any emotion: "I'm just going to get some materials cultivated outside the tower and go home at the same time."
She seemed not to want to talk about it any more, so she raised her head and raised her voice slightly.
"Since it's your birthday and you've received the good news that you can go out, let's go back and eat cake to celebrate."
Kelly grabbed Thor's shoulders again.
"Eating cake to celebrate a birthday? Can't you eat cake at any time? Or is this cake not what I understand?" Nick interrupted curiously.
Since Nick was going out with Thor, Kelly thought about it and invited Nick.
"Please come and taste it, I just made it." She nodded.
"Of course it's a very special cake!" Thor was more excited now. Without Kelly pushing him, he took the initiative to take Nick out.
"Please don't be polite, senior. I'll give you some of mine..."
The departure day was postponed by one day due to some irresistible objective reasons.
Nick was still a little depressed when he drove Thor out of the wizard tower.
Sol, who had stuffed most of the birthday cake on senior Nick, was leaning against the car window and looking out with great energy.
They left the tower in a double-decker carriage. The carriage was small, and people could only lean against it, not lie down, so it was not particularly comfortable. But the carriage was very fast.
The driver was an adult male servant in the tower. Generally, those who had lived to this age had their own means of survival.
Along the way, the butler only spoke when necessary, and usually tried to remain quiet and low-profile. Sol and Nick just called him the coachman, not even his name.
Thor could feel the fear coming from him.
Just as nervous as he was when facing his mentor and the tower master.
This is because of the disparity in power levels, and the resulting sense of threat cannot be eliminated by courage alone.
Nick was still lying on the seat to rest. Thor had no one to share his joy of being free from the "cage", so he could only lean his upper body out of the window just like the first time he entered the city.
In April, the weather is a little cool, but with the spring breeze, green has begun to cover the earth.
The junction between the wizard tower and the wasteland in the distance was also dyed from a single dark yellow to a fresh green.
As the carriage was moving very fast, some grass seeds and flying insects hit the wheels and walls, leaving yellow-green marks.
Thor watched the green mountains and dense forests getting closer and closer to him, and even occasionally a few wild mice and rabbits would jump out around him.
After looking at the new and strange outside world for a while, Thor couldn't help but look back at the wizard tower.
The gray-black wizard tower stood alone on the plain, surrounded by emptiness and silence, as if nothing would change after thousands of years.
Apart from the wizards' buildings, there was not even a tall bush around the wizard tower.
It seemed that even the plants were afraid of the wizard tower and kept an absolute distance from the mysterious world there.
The carriage drove on the deserted wilderness for most of the day and finally arrived at a populated village.
But the carriage did not stop, nor did it even approach the villages; it simply sped past them on the road beside them.
Those villages and towns are not very prosperous, but there are still quite a few houses.
Thor saw that some people who were out and about immediately knelt on the ground after seeing their carriage and did not get up for a long time.
Their clothes were simple and old-fashioned, but no one was seen naked.
People in the outside world seem to be living pretty well.
The darkness of the wizard tower did not invade the ordinary people around it, and the latter could still enjoy the environmental bonus brought by the wizard tower.
Thor looked for a long time and finally retracted his head.
After looking at the scenery for a long time, he still felt like an outsider and it was not as easy as he had imagined.
It was as if the chain from the wizard tower was still tied tightly around his neck.
When Thor returned to the carriage with a sense of loss, he discovered that Senior Nick had recovered his spirits and started reading a book at some point.
Thor: “…”
Well, he thought about it, picked up his heavy backpack, sorted out the various props and potions he had prepared, selected a less sensitive book, and started reading.
They then traveled for five days, stopping only to rest in the middle of the night, and even sleeping was replaced by meditation.
It feels like an ascetic monk.
During the day on the sixth day, Thor raised his head from the shaking book, closed his eyes and pinched his nose.
"Senior Nick, do you know where we are going?"
"I'm going to Mobian City on the border of the Principality of Kema. I'll meet up with Byron first, and then... most likely go to Chuishou Valley. But before that, I have to take a detour to do a small mission and earn some credits."
Nick looked up from the book and blinked at Thor. "It's a rare trip for me. I still have plenty of time. I can't let this trip go in vain."
While the two were talking, the carriage suddenly stopped, shaking them.
"Are we there yet?" Thor looked outside quickly, but saw only farmland and a gentle hillside.
There are no towns around.
At the foot of the hill not far away, there was a group of dozens of people on horseback standing quietly.
Someone in the team was holding a flag with a blue background and silver edges. In the middle of the flag was a very abstract painting of a rabbit holding a snake in its mouth.
Nick suddenly put away the book in his hand and got out of the carriage.
Among the people on the opposite side, a tall middle-aged man rode towards them.
He was wearing the same light cloth armor of navy blue and silver, with metal armor sewn only on the vital parts. He had a long sword hanging from his waist, and jumped off his horse about ten meters in front of Nick.
Thor saw the man walk up to Nick, kneel on one knee, and do a chest-touching salute.
Nick raised his hand to let the person stand up, his movements as graceful as a prince.
The two men turned their backs to Thor and began to talk in low voices.
Because of the distance between them, Thor couldn't hear what the two talked about. He could only see that the middle-aged man was very respectful, while Nick still had no emotion.
After a while Nick came back but did not get into the carriage.
"Something happened in the family, and I need to go there. I'm afraid you'll have to walk the rest of the way to Mobian City by yourself."
Thor asked in surprise: "What about the mission with Senior Byron?"
Nick blinked, his mouth tight, "I can finish my work quickly, and I won't be late from there to Mobian City. But..."
Thor immediately felt that this turn of events was not a good one.
As expected, Nick continued, "I have to ask you to take care of the small mission I accepted. I will transfer the mission credits to you."
