Chapter 98: Nightmare Butterfly Cocoon
Ada let go of the old madman and rushed over.
The man named Jayce turned around and said nonchalantly, "Why are you in such a hurry? I'm just helping you check on Penny."
"Don't worry about Penny!"
Ada rushed forward, grabbed the man's collar and pulled him over, with his other fist suspended in the air, as if he was about to hit him in the next second.
Jayce didn't hide nor get angry, he just smiled and said, "You go out every day and lock Penny at home every day. I just want to make Penny happy so that she won't be too bored."
This time Ada really wanted to raise his fist.
But he couldn't beat Jayce.
Saul held the old madman and watched it clearly from the side.
Jayce was dressed in slovenly clothes, with tangled hair and beard, but his exposed arms were quite muscular.
And it was covered with scars, showing the traces of someone who had lived on the edge of a knife.
Although Ada was still quite strong, he immediately looked much shorter and thinner when standing in front of Jayce.
This is probably the reason why Ada, despite his loud voice, did not dare to really swing his fist.
Fortunately, Jayce saw that Ada's eyes were red, and slapped Ada's hand away with a wry smile, "Okay, I'm leaving. Is it okay for me to leave?"
He left the angry Ada there, pulling at his collar casually as he walked past Thor and the old madman.
He glanced at the shabby Thor and rolled his eyes.
"The kind-hearted man has brought someone home again."
Thor's eyes followed Jayce as he left the courtyard before he looked back.
At this moment, Ada was leaning against the window in the same manner as Jayce had just done, talking to the person inside.
After a while, he turned around somewhat depressed and saw Thor still standing at the gate of the yard dragging the old madman.
Ada directed Thor to drag the old madman into the room closest to the gate, while he went back to unlock the door and get back into the house.
Thor dragged the old madman into his room and found it very dark.
There was no furniture in the house where the old madman lived, and all the items were piled together in a mess.
Thor looked around and put the old madman on a mattress with exposed straw stalks.
The old madman had given up struggling and muttered a few words "barbaric". The "evil spirit" turned over and began to snore.
Thor stood still and did not leave immediately. He asked softly, "Are there any barbarians here too?"
The old madman's only response was a deafening snoring.
Thor was sure that the old madman was not as crazy as he looked, and Captain Jeff might have noticed it too.
If the barbarian mentioned by the old madman had not been mentioned by senior Nick, Thor probably wouldn't care at all whether he was pretending to be crazy or not.
Thor looked back at the gate. There was no one else in the yard at this time. Ada ran to his house to deliver something.
A thin black tentacle stretched out from behind Thor's neck and gently tapped the old madman's back.
The tentacles spread upwards along the old madman's spine and gently touched his neck.
The old madman seemed to be really asleep. His snoring did not change much, and the rise and fall of his body was very steady.
Xiao Zao returned to Thor and gently shook the tip of its tentacle.
This means that no evil spirits or vengeful ghosts were found.
Xiao Algae is sensitive to the spirit body Bisol.
Thor still needs to enter a semi-immersed meditative state to see some obvious spirits, but Xiaozao can find even the smallest soul fragments relying solely on his instinct for food.
It seems that there is nothing abnormal about this old madman for the time being.
Thor let Xiaozao shrink back and walked out of the old madman's house.
He walked into the yard and looked up, and saw that in the room that Ada had just entered, there was a window sealed with wooden boards.
Through the gap in the window, there seemed to be a pair of silver eyes, staring at him without blinking.
Thor looked into those eyes for a moment and felt that they were so cool and clear, like a clear spring in the forest.
But if you really reach your hand in, you will find it is bottomless.
"Thor, come in quickly. If you stand there for too long, people will think you are trying to steal someone's things."
At this time, Ada came out, having taken off his sweaty shirt, and called Thor over.
"Okay." Thor responded, and when he looked towards the window again, he could no longer see the pair of eyes.
He walked slowly towards the house where Ada was, with a hint of anticipation in his heart.
This room was very simple, and like Sol's dormitory, it had no partition walls. There was a large wooden bed in the room, which was close to the wall. Both ends were tightly blocked.
There was a cabinet against the wall above the bed, with several thumb-sized holes drilled in the cabinet door and side walls.
It seems like the gap was left intentionally.
When Thor looked over, a silver eye suddenly appeared behind one of the holes.
The eye shook and turned into a cracked lip.
Ada spread some weeds on the only wooden table in the room, then spread out a piece of tattered clothes and covered the weeds with it.
"It's getting dark. You should sleep here tonight. Don't wander around after dark."
"By the way," Ada turned around and called to the cabinet behind him, "Penny, come out. Meet a big brother. He used to be our neighbor."
“Squeak—”
A shrill sound was heard, and a little girl crawled out from the big cabinet under the bed like a kitten.
She groped her way to the edge of the wooden bed, raised her head in the direction of Ada, revealing a pair of silver, nebula-like eyes.
"This is Penny. The last time you saw her, she was only three years old. She's getting prettier now, right?"
Penny's appearance is not actually that good-looking.
His skin was yellow, his face was sunken, and his hair was thin, soft and dry like weeds.
But her silver eyes are really beautiful, making people want to indulge in them.
As Thor stared into Penny's eyes, the diary suddenly flew out.
[New Moon Calendar Year 316, April 11, Sunny
The weather is really nice today, and you are lucky too. How did you find the cocoon of a nightmare butterfly?
Do you want to live with nightmares from now on?
Then I suggest you dig out those eyes~]
Ada was smiling foolishly, but suddenly she noticed that Thor was staring at Penny without blinking, and her face became serious.
"Hey! Thor, don't you dare go after her!"
Thor reluctantly looked away and met Ada's eyes, as if his tail had been stepped on. "What nonsense are you talking about? Penny is only... 7 years old? I'm just curious about what happened to her eyes."
"I can't see it anymore. After we ran out of the village, I was carrying Penny on my back the whole time, and I didn't notice when she got hurt. When I found out, it was too late. After the wound healed, it became like this, but it's pretty nice."
Ada seemed to be used to being asked this question and spoke calmly. He walked over and fed Penny some food.
But Penny refused. She pushed her brother's hand away and stared at Thor.
"Is she...really blind?" Thor walked over and waved his hand in front of Penny.
Penny just stared at Thor's face, neither dodging nor blinking.
"Brother Thor!" the little girl suddenly called out crisply.
"Hello, Penny." Thor bent down, looked down at Penny, and greeted her with a smile.
"Brother Thor!" Penny called again.
Ada then pulled Thor away and said exaggeratedly, "No way, Penny, you still remember him?"
Penny smiled sheepishly and backed away into the closet.
Ada completely ignored the strange feeling between Penny's actions and complained indignantly, "She only calls me Ada and never calls me brother. Why does she call you so nicely when she sees you?"
Seeing Thor shrug innocently, Ada repeated it again.
"Don't set your sights on my sister!"
