Chaoge:!!!
Han Lin: "...What?"
Chaoge was frightened. He tilted his ear to listen to what happened next while looking for a place to pull over.
Han Lin's mother said tiredly on the other end of the phone, "It was Xiaojun. He came back for dinner tonight and had a quarrel with me. When I came out after washing the dishes, I found he was gone."
Han Lin was speechless for a moment.
"It's been almost four hours, and he hasn't answered any calls, and he's not at his classmates' place," Han Lin's mother said. "I'm going to call the police. I just want to know if he's contacted you. You're his favorite person."
Han Lin was silent after hearing this, and said: "He hasn't contacted me. If he contacts me, I will tell you."
Han Lin's mother was also silent when she heard this. After several breaths, she said, "Then I'll hang up."
"kindness."
Han Lin hung up the phone and put it away. Chaoge had already parked the car on the side of the road and gestured anxiously at him: "What should we do? Should we go find him now?"
Han Lin was a little anxious at first, but seeing him like this, he felt relieved: "You haven't even met him, why are you acting like you've lost your brother?"
Chaoge slapped his thigh unhappily: [Isn’t your brother my brother?]
"Yes, it's your brother." Han Lin said, "But even if we look for him now, we have no direction."
Chaoge gestured: "Give him a try, and then call his classmates and friends to ask if they've seen him. I'm driving to the No. 2 Middle School affiliated to the city right now, and I'll check out the internet cafe in the park near your house."
Han Lin didn't react at first, but his expression became strange at the end.
Chaoge pushed him: [Why are you looking at me like that? Make a phone call!]
"Why do I feel like you are so skilled at running away from home?" Han Lin said.
Chaoge's face turned red instantly.
Han Lin raised an eyebrow, but didn't let go of Chaoge's pigtail: "If you can't find it in those places, where else do you plan to look?"
Chaoge gestured timidly: [Let's go look for it first. If we can't find it, we'll talk about the next plan.]
"Okay, I'll call him then." Han Lin pinched Chaoge's earlobe with one hand, "You can't tell, my Chaoge used to be a rebellious young man."
Chaoge: ...
Chaoge weakly retorted: [Not at all.]
After the gesture, Chaoge started the car and turned towards the No. 2 Middle School Affiliated to Chaoyang City.
Han Lin also called Han Xiaojun on his mobile phone.
He didn't hold much hope that Han Xiaojun would answer his call.
He has two younger brothers, both of whom are troublemakers. The second one is in college now and has become better-tempered, but the third one is still in his rebellious period and can cause as much trouble as he wants. Even though Han Lin doesn't interact much with them, he can occasionally hear a few words about their recent situation.
He also totally didn't believe what his mother said, "Your brother loves you the most."
He and Han Xiaojun had almost no connection, so why did this brat inexplicably like him?
Just as I was thinking this, the phone on the other end was connected.
A low, hoarse voice, a boy in the voice change period, entered Han Lin's ears: "Brother?"
Han Lin was stunned for a moment, then sat up straight.
He cleared his throat: "Han Xiaojun?"
The person on the other side said "Yeah".
Han Lin asked: "Where are you now?"
Han Xiaojun was silent for a long time.
It took so long that Han Lin almost lost his patience and asked again before Han Xiaojun finally said, "I'm in Linjiangyuan."
Han Lin was even more stunned now.
Linjiangyuan, this is where he and Chaoge used to rent a house.
"What are you doing there?" Han Lin asked.
Han Xiaojun spoke very slowly, and one could feel that he was reluctant to answer these questions, but he always managed to spit out the answer just before Han Lin's patience ran out.
"Nothing." Han Xiaojun asked, "Brother, have you moved?"
Needless to say, Han Lin also knew that Han Xiaojun went to Linjiangyuan to find him.
He did not tell his family about his move. They bought the house together, and Chaoge's name was on the property deed. If his mother knew about this, it would definitely trigger a big war.
Han Lin was annoyed and didn't say anything.
"I just moved and haven't had time to tell you." Han Lin said to him, "Which gate of Linjiangyuan are you at now? I'll come pick you up."
Han Xiaojun's voice suddenly soared: "Really?!"
"Well, where are you?" Han Lin asked.
"I'm at the East Gate," Han Xiaojun said, his voice trailing off again. "Brother, did Mom ask you to come find me?"
Han Lin said: "Well, she said you ran away from home."
Han Xiaojun didn't expect his brother to be so disrespectful and expose his true feelings. Despite feeling embarrassed, he continued, "Then could you please not tell her that you found me?"
"If I tell her, will you make it impossible for me to find you?" Han Lin asked.
Han Xiaojun was very conflicted. On the one hand, he didn't want his mother to know where he was because he would definitely be taken home. On the other hand, he was afraid that his brother would really not come to look for him.
Although he was usually far away from his brother, the smart Han Xiaojun had already noticed his brother's character from the short time they spent together.
After thinking about it for a long time and finding no solution, Han Xiaojun asked uncomfortably, "Do I really have to tell you?"
"I--" Han Lin just opened his mouth when Chaoge covered his mouth.
[Hold him steady first, catch him first.] Chaoge gestured seriously.
Han Lin nodded helplessly and said to Han Xiaojun: "I'll pick you up first, and we'll talk later."
It just so happened that Han Xiaojun also wanted to avoid his brother's question: "Okay, I'll wait for you here."
Chaoge gestured to Han Lin: [Tell him to find a warm place at the East Gate. Forget it, just ask him to go get some milk tea and say you ordered it for him.]
Han Lin was a little unhappy, thinking that there was no need to pamper a kid like this who would run away from home, but he usually wouldn't refute Chaoge at such times.
"There's a Zhuangzhuang Milk Tea Shop outside the east gate. Go wait for me there. I'll order a cup of milk tea for you." Han Lin said.
Han Xiaojun was surprised again and said cautiously, "Okay, brother, I'll be there right away."
"Hang up, see you later."
"See you later."
Han Lin hung up the phone and turned to look at Chaoge.
Chaoge gestured: [Order milk tea, I'll drive over now.]
"No." Han Lin said, "Why are you so nice to him? He's already a teenager. It won't hurt if he just waits at the East Gate for a while."
[What if I catch a cold?] Chaoge gestured.
Han Lin opened the car window and a wave of hot air rushed in: "Baby, it's summer now, and the temperature is over 20 degrees Celsius at night."
Chaoge immediately retorted: [That could be heatstroke. Stop talking nonsense. Hurry up and have some milk tea. I need to drive.]
Han Lin had no choice but to obediently call the Zhuangzhuang Milk Tea Shop and tell them that a child would be coming and asked them to help take care of the child.
After finishing the call, Han Lin turned his head to look out the car window and became dazed.
Ever since the day he came out, his relationship with his family has been bad.
Han Xiaojun was young. Han Lin was still studying when he was born. After finishing his studies in China, he went abroad and looked for opportunities to do internships during holidays. After graduation and entering the hospital, he moved out to live on his own and spent very little time at home each year.
If he and the second oldest child in the family had some brotherly affection as they grew up together, he and Han Xiaojun really didn't have much interaction. He always thought that Han Xiaojun treated him like a strange brother.
But today Han Xiaojun ran away from home and only answered his call.
His mother said that Han Xiaojun's favorite person was him, but how could that be possible?
There were not many cars on the road at night, and they soon arrived at the east gate of Linjiangyuan. Chaoge parked the car and hurriedly pulled Han Lin to the Zhuangzhuang Milk Tea Shop.
The glass door opened, revealing a smaller version of Han Lin with a cold face, sitting inside, sipping milk tea expressionlessly.
When Han Xiaojun saw Han Lin, his expression changed slightly, but when he saw Chaoge beside Han Lin, the corners of his mouth drooped again.
He stood up and walked in front of Han Lin.
"Brother." He whispered.
Han Lin frowned and looked at him, wondering why this kid suddenly became so timid and didn't act like a man at all.
"Why did you run away from home?" Han Lin asked.
Han Xiaojun kept his head down and said nothing.
"Speak." Han Lin's tone became more serious. "I haven't told Mom yet. Do you want you to call her now?"
Han Xiaojun shook his head and whispered, "I had a fight with her."
"You ran away from home after a quarrel? Do you have a place to stay? If something happens on the street late at night, what will your family do? Do you know how worried your family will be and how much trouble you will cause them if you leave?" Han Lin grabbed Han Xiaojun's arm, "I'm taking you home now. If there's anything, you two can solve it face to face."
Han Xiaojun broke away from Han Lin's hand: "I won't go back."
Han Lin didn't know what was wrong with him. He usually had a good temper, but at this moment he suddenly couldn't control his anger.
"If you don't go back, where do you want to go? Beg on the street?" Han Lin spoke bluntly.
As soon as he finished speaking, Han Xiaojun's face turned red, and he buried his head and refused to speak again.
Seeing this, Chaoge stretched out his claws and pinched Han Lin's waist hard.
"Hiss—" Han Lin hunched his shoulders in pain, "What's wrong?"
"Since my brother has a problem with Mom, let's take him back to our house first." Chaoge gestured, "Don't be so harsh. Teenagers are very sensitive. What you said was too harsh. What do you mean by 'causing trouble'? We're a family. When a family member is upset, we need to be there for them, not call them troublesome."
[You might not feel anything about this, but it makes a big difference to him.]
Han Lin had no experience interacting with rebellious children. Even when he had to interact with young patients, most of them could not rebel due to heart problems. So when he saw Han Xiaojun's appearance, he was furious and couldn't stop talking.
He regrets it now.
"First, apologize to him, and then ask him if he'd like to stay at our house for a few days. We've just finished cleaning up the guest room." Chaoge gestured, "Then tell Mom that my brother has been found and that he's sleeping over here with us."
"Even if you arrange it so well, it still depends on whether they are happy with it." Han Lin said, "Silly."
"How do you know if they're willing to do it if you don't ask?" Chaoge frowned and gestured, "Hurry up, I'm sleepy. If I delay any longer, I'll be driving while fatigued. It's dangerous!"
Han Lin saw his adorable little expression, and felt warm and itchy inside. He used sign language to signal Chaoge, "If this little brat wasn't here, I would definitely kiss you unconscious."
Even after seven years of dating, Chaoge still couldn't be completely immune to such words. He coughed lightly and grabbed Han Lin's hand: "You guys have a good chat. I'll wait for you in the car."
