Chapter 70 Family Happiness

At midnight on the 23rd, Chaoge and Han Lin lay face to face on the bed, staring at each other quietly.

Crickets chirped outside the window. Chaoge blinked, moved forward and kissed Han Lin.

"Happy seventh anniversary." Han Lin said.

Chaoge smiled at him.

Before they knew it, seven years had passed.

It seemed very long and yet it seemed like just a blink of an eye.

[This year is different from the past.] Chaoge gestured.

Han Lin knew what Chaoge was talking about: "Well, I am your fiancé."

Chaoge laughed even more happily: "I wonder when our country will allow same-sex marriage."

"Although the law cannot give us a marriage certificate now, we can take wedding photos. Do you want to take them?" Han Lin asked.

[I want to!] Chaoge perked up, [I also want to take those red-background ID photos that go on my marriage certificate.]

"Okay, if you have time, look for a good photo studio nearby and we can go take some photos together," Han Lin said. "Photos like the ones for marriage certificates are pretty easy to take. The copy shop downstairs can do that."

[Psst! Can you be more careful? I want to take a good-looking photo.] Chaoge gestured, [I want the kind with makeup on.]

"Putting on makeup?" Han Lin repeated.

Chaoge touched Han Lin's chin and looked at his face: "I can do your makeup tomorrow."

"Why should I wear makeup tomorrow?" Han Lin's brows twitched.

"Aren't we going to take pictures tomorrow when we go out? We'll look better with makeup on." Chaoge gestured, "You have to trust me, I'm very skilled. When I was in college, I'd get lots of makeup jobs at comic conventions every year. People who were shooting JK, Lolita, and cosplay would also ask me to do their makeup. I charge for makeup, and it's not cheap."

"Really...?" Han Lin's forehead was sweating.

[Part of the money I earned from makeup paid for my trip to Japan.] Chaoge was very proud.

Han Lin laughed awkwardly: "Is that so? You are so awesome."

"Don't worry, I'll just help you clean up a bit, like trim your eyebrows, put on some foundation, etc. You're already handsome, you don't need any makeovers." Chaoge gestured.

"Okay then." Han Lin said, "Anything is fine as long as it's not too strong."

[Are you afraid that I’ll make you look ugly?] Chaoge turned over and lay on the bed, supporting Han Lin’s face with her arms, looking down at him.

"It's not that I'm afraid you'll make me look ugly, it's mainly because when I was in high school, I was once teased by a girl in my class." Han Lin said, "The school organized a party and our class had to perform. The homeroom teacher said that everyone who went on stage had to wear makeup. The girls in the class volunteered to be makeup artists. They immediately gave us thick eyebrows, red cheeks, purple and blue eyeshadow, and thick, heavy eyeliner. Just thinking about it makes my scalp tingle."

[Hahahaha, it was years ago when you were in high school. Wasn't that style popular back then? Who doesn't have some dark history?] Chaoge couldn't stop laughing.

"It's too ugly. Her mouth is painted so red. She looks just like Ruhua in Stephen Chow's movies," said Han Lin.

[This sister is really amazing, she can transform you into a beautiful flower.] Chaoge gestured.

Han Lin is good-looking and doesn't look like Ruhua at all.

"How could they wear makeup at that time? At that age, they were all studying hard. The girls in our class were all working harder than each other. They just wanted to play a joke on us. They even had to ask their parents and teachers for cosmetics at the last minute," said Han Lin.

"That's great." Chaoge's eyes lit up as he listened. He gestured with a hint of melancholy, "If only I had been born a few years earlier. I'd love to be in the same class with you and see what you were like back then."

"Even if you were born a few years earlier, you wouldn't be in the same class with me." Han Lin said, "Our class is the best in the whole grade. There are 50 people in total, and half of the top 100 are from our class."

Chaoge narrowed his eyes. His grades were not bad, but they were far behind Han Lin's. Moreover, he liked painting and was an art student, so he did not have high requirements for the college entrance examination scores.

[Anyway, tomorrow I'll pair your clothes. We'll wear matching outfits, and then I'll do some simple makeup for you. I'm going to film a vlog, so I hope you look photogenic.] Chaoge gestured.

"Photogenic? Are you going to post our true faces?" Han Lin asked.

[I won’t release it, but I will edit two versions. One is the one without the header that will be released, and the other is the uncut version that will not be released, so we can watch it when we are old.] Chaoge gestured.

"That's good." Han Lin was very satisfied with Chaoge's decision.

Han Lin hooked his arm around Chaoge's neck, pulled her down and kissed her: "Okay, time to go to bed. We have to get up early to go out and play tomorrow."

Chaoge nodded: [Good night.]
