Chapter 116: Forever

Han Lin's parents had bad tempers, but the elders of the previous generation were very nice and loved Han Lin very much when they were alive.

It’s a pity that they all passed away early and were unable to protect Han Lin for a few more years.

There was a shop selling yellow and white chrysanthemums at the entrance of the cemetery. There were almost no people coming to pay their respects at this time. Han Lin got out of the car to buy flowers. Chaoge looked at the cemetery with her bag on her back and felt that it was extremely peaceful here.

Four old people were buried here, all buried together. They bought four bouquets of flowers, and each of them walked up slowly holding two bouquets.

Chaoge couldn't use sign language on the way, so Han Lin didn't say anything and quietly went up the stairs.

The morning sun was just hanging low in the sky at this time, emitting some subtle warmth, but the cemetery was still too cold, and Chaoge shivered as he walked.

When they were almost there, Han Lin saw that his face was pale from the cold. He frowned and asked, "Did you put on the heating pad?"

Chaoge nodded, exhaled a breath of white air, and looked at Han Lin with moist eyes, with an expression of being stunned by the cold.

Han Lin was heartbroken. He quickened his pace and took Chaoge to the place and put down the bouquet.

He held Chaoge's hand and rubbed it; it was cold.

"After the worship, let's go back to the car and drink some hot water." Han Lin said.

Chaoge nodded obediently.

When the previous generation passed away, Chaoge and Han Lin were very young, and their feelings could not be said to be very deep, but it was impossible that they had no feelings at all.

They obediently helped to wipe the tombstone clean, bowed silently, and then rushed to another area to sweep the graves.

More than half an hour later, Han Lin pulled the almost frozen Chaoge back to the car.

At this time, Chaoge's face was wooden.

Han Lin's hands were still hot. He unscrewed the thermos, poured a bottle cap into it, blew it until it was warm, and then handed it to Chaoge to drink.

After drinking two cups of hot water, Chaoge's pale face looked a little better.

"It's cold today. I saw the weather forecast says it's going to get colder." Chaoge's fingers were stiff as he signed slowly.

"Or you can just stay in the car until you get off. I'm going to visit the graves. Don't catch a cold during the New Year." Han Lin said.

Chaoge shook her head quickly: [No, we have to go. How can we not go? I'm fine. Let's just move quickly.]

Han Lin had no choice but to say, "Then put on two more warm pads. Did you bring a hot water bottle?"

Chaoge shook her head: "I'm really fine. Let's go. If we don't leave now, the road will be congested."

Han Lin glanced at his watch and saw that it was indeed approaching peak time, so he had no choice but to drive out of the cemetery and go to the next one.

There was some traffic on the road, but fortunately, when we arrived at the next cemetery, the sun was already high in the sky. Although the temperature had dropped, the sun shining on our bodies still slightly alleviated the chill in the cemetery.

Chaoge held a bouquet of flowers in one hand and followed Han Lin step by step.

"A while ago, our department sent a grandfather away," Han Lin said. "He lived with us for almost two years, his health fluctuating, and he didn't make it through this winter."

Chaoge listened silently.

"The old man was a scholar. He loved reading and practicing calligraphy in the ward. He even wrote a painting and said he wanted to give it to me. Sometimes when there were children staying in the hospital, he would go and tell them stories." Han Lin said, "The old man was very open-minded. Before he passed away, he asked his younger generation to sign a consent agreement to donate his body. He wanted to leave something behind."

Chaoge looked at Han Lin's back.

"A few days ago I heard that the Red Cross hung the old man's nameplate in the Philanthropy Garden. Let's go see him later," said Han Lin.

Chaoge nodded.

The Philanthropy Garden is a high wall specially opened by their city in the cemetery, with many nameplates hanging on it, all belonging to the body donors.

After sweeping the graves of their grandparents, Chaoge and Han Lin walked hand in hand to the Boai Garden.

Han Lin stood at the foot of the wall, looking at the names on it, and said, "I remember the names of many of them."

Chaoge nodded again.

Not only Han Lin remembered, Chaoge also remembered part of it.

Because when Han Lin came here, he would occasionally tell Chaoge which people's hearts were transplanted to another person by him.

They are all great.

"...making the short-lived eternal." Han Lin whispered the words engraved on the wall.

Chaoge held his hand tightly and heard him whisper beside her, "May our generation study diligently and tirelessly to reach the pinnacle of medicine."

Chaoge listened silently.

"Do our utmost to eliminate human suffering and promote perfect health."

"Rescue the dying and the wounded, regardless of the hardship."

The author has something to say: Thank you for your support.
