Chapter 22

Chapter 22

Zhou Zifang rarely had the upper hand over Chen Meiyun, so he couldn't help but be curious and wanted to find out about Jiang Wan's personal preferences. But who knew that this man, who looked so intimidating and outspoken, was actually more cunning than a pineapple.

"Chen Meiyu is really tight-lipped." Not only does she not say anything useful, she also keeps trying to get information from Zhou Zifang. She is simply taking advantage of others.

Lu Jiyu leaned against the counter, waiting for his two cups of iced cola, and listened to his complaints without paying much attention: "Do you think everyone is like you, spreading my affairs around the world for no reason?"

"I think you shouldn't bother applying to a university. I have a ready-made job for you."

"What?" Zhou Zifang picked up the cola and took a sip, then asked shamelessly.

Lu Jiyu lowered his eyebrows and asked the waiter for two pieces of paper, then wiped the water off his hands: "The intelligence station at the entrance of the village is quite suitable for you."

"Tsk tsk, scolding me again."

Lu Jiyu found a corner seat at McDonald's and sat down. Zhou Zifang was about to ask him why he was hiding in such a corner when he saw Lu Jiyu pull out a portable keyboard from his pocket and start connecting it to his phone via Bluetooth.

"What are you doing?" Thanks to Lu Jiyu, Zhou Zi was surrounded by top students in No. 3 Middle School. Everyone was studying extremely hard. Even the few boarding students he knew would not sleep at all after the lights were turned off at night. They would just lie on the bathroom sink with a set of test papers and continue studying until they were satisfied.

Lu Jiyu was a little different from the others. He would only continue studying after a good sleep. Every day after school, he would go home, eat dinner, and go to bed. He would sleep until 11 or 12 o'clock, then get up and start studying. He would study until the next morning, then wash his face and go to school.

So over the years, Zhou Zifang has also witnessed the study habits of different academic masters one after another.

But to be honest, no matter how studious these academic masters were, he had never seen them take out their test papers and start working at McDonald's, let alone Lu Jiyu.

"After sorting out the knowledge points of high school physics, the only thing left is the last point about force."

"Who is it for?" Zhou Zifang asked and then he remembered who else it could be. It could be that kid Devin.

"Looking at how dedicated you are, I say that if Gao Zhuo doesn't get into a 985211 university, I'll have to avoid you every time I see you on the street."

"Brother, please remember the people."

“He works harder than anyone else.”

Lu Jiyu sighed slowly. To put it a little exaggeratedly, people like him and Zhou Zifang were born with a silver spoon in their mouths and enjoyed the blessing of their parents and family members since childhood. It seemed that they had suffered a lot while growing up. But if they could take a closer look and compare themselves with people like Gao Zhuo, they would know that their so-called hardships were already a dream that others could not reach.

But Lu Jiyu also understands that everyone has their own practice in life. After all, although happiness is closely related to material things, happiness itself depends on people.

Zhou Zi was not a bad person. Sometimes he was used to complaining, and when Lu Jiyu reminded him, he realized that he was indeed being harsh. "After the college entrance examination, you can ask him out and we can have dinner together."

"It's my treat!"

"Okay, I'll ask him tomorrow."

Lu Jiyu typed on the keyboard with one hand, and took a sip of the Coke on the table with his free hand from time to time. He was obviously typing the theorems, formulas and examples without looking at the book, but he was so proficient in it that it was as if these things were in his mother's womb.

No wonder people say people at work are the most attractive.

When Lu Jiyu was absorbed in his studies, he felt a lot like the heartless, high-flying financial elites in the CBD business building—cold, cool, and a bit pretentious. Fortunately, Lu Jiyu had no interest in finance.

"Do you want to know who Jiang Wan's ideal type is?" Lu Jiyu didn't say anything, and Zhou Zifang felt a little bored. He shook the ice cubes in the glass unwillingly, deliberately annoying him.

Could she have an ideal type? Even if she did, it would probably be herself.

Lu Jiyu stopped typing, glanced at Zhou Zifang distractedly from the screen, and advised her impatiently: "If you are really bored, just find something to do. Isn't this a big mall enough for you to visit?"

Zhou Zifang thought, shopping in a mall is not as interesting as playing with your mentality.

"You really don't want to know?"

"I just told you what Chen Meiyun told me. I guarantee it."

"I didn't want to tell you, for fear of upsetting you." Zhou Zifang acted quite devotedly, "But with our relationship, how could I hide it from you?"

"Yeah." Unfortunately, Lu Jiyu just responded perfunctorily.

But Zhou Zifang couldn't hold it in any longer: "Her ideal type is quite special. Not only special, but also very powerful."

"I'll tell you this." Zhou Zifang retracted his legs and sat up a little straighter. "Her ideal type is handsome, capable, willing to endure hardships, loyal, and most importantly, well-connected and well-off."

Zhou Zifang thought that since he had already raised his voice to this point, Lu Jiyu should be a little curious.

But the man just didn't accept the challenge and continued to drink his Coke calmly, like an outsider.

"Not bad, good taste."

Zhou Zifang couldn't bear to see Lu Jiyu's calm expression: "Are you really not curious about who it is?"

After Lu Jiyu finished writing the last line, he roughly checked it to make sure there were no major problems, saved the file, and sent it to Gao Zhuo.

"Curious." He folded the keyboard back to its original shape, glanced at the time again, and then covered the phone on the table. He crossed his arms and looked at his shoulders with a cold expression: "Go ahead."

It seemed as if Zhou Zifang would have to explain himself if he couldn't say five, four, three, two, one today.

Luckily, Zhou Zifang wasn't just making this up; he actually had some information. However, he wasn't sure if it was true or not, as it was a bit far-fetched.

"Let me make it clear first, this is what Chen Meiyu told me, I can't guarantee its truth." Zhou Zifang hesitated to bring out the disclaimer.

Seeing that Lu Jiyu didn't react much, he continued, "I asked Chen Meiyun what kind of boys Jiang Wan liked, and she said that Jiang Wan didn't like any boys, she just loved a monkey."

"Sun Wukong." Lu Jiyu raised her eyebrows. She was not surprised. It was quite consistent with her personality.

"How should I put it?" Zhou Zifang looked at Lu Jiyu sympathetically. "This girl has excellent taste. You really have a long way to go."

After coming out of McDonald's, Lu Jiyu and Zhou Zifang picked a random movie to watch in the cinema to kill time. When Li Mu arrived at the Financial Building, the movie was almost over. This movie was a newly released suspense film, and the actors were all veteran actors. However, due to the low production cost and the lack of popular actors, the early publicity of the movie was not in place. The box office was not very good in the first week of its release, forcing the director to post a short essay on Weibo. Later, with the continuous promotion of a group of "tap water" audiences, the box office and popularity of the movie finally showed signs of recovery.

"Li Mu has arrived and asked where we are." Lu Jiyu lowered his voice to the lowest point. Just as he was about to show Zhou Zifang his WeChat, he heard the girl sitting next to him say excitedly, "Wow, his voice is so nice too. I'm dying."

…I hope she’s talking about the male lead in the movie.

Zhou Zifang was completely immersed in the plot, afraid that if he missed even a second, he would miss the key points. He was extremely curious about who the serial killer was. So at the moment, he had no time to care about Li Mu: "Shh." He impatiently pushed Ji Yu's hand away: "We are watching a movie in the theater, don't talk."

Lu Jiyu thought that Zhou Zifang was being civilized, but it just felt a bit out of place. He put his phone under his head, typing while paying attention to the development of the plot. In fact, he had already guessed who the murderer was, but he was also very curious about what plot the director was going to use to arrange for this seemingly loyal male college student to reveal his true colors. Lu Jiyu gave Li Mu a red envelope and explained: "Zhou Zifang and I are watching a movie. It will take a while to end. You can have a cup of milk tea downstairs first. We will come down to find you after we finish."

He had just finished sending this WeChat message when his phone vibrated, reminding him that Li Mu had received the red envelope. Then there was no movement. Lu Jiyu, not at all surprised, turned off the phone and put it back in his pocket. Zhou Zifang leaned over, his eyes still fixed on the screen: "What did he say? We can't miss the seafood dinner."

"We're watching a movie in the cinema, don't talk." Lu Jiyu repeated all Zhou Zifang's words back to him.

Li Mu had a certain artificial aloofness back in junior high, looking down on everyone. The same thing happened with Lu Jiyu. Back then, he was incredibly popular, handsome, and had excellent grades, and everyone from students to teachers loved him. But this guy always acted indifferent, to the point of being overly indifferent, almost to the point of being overbearing.

Li thought Lu Jiyu was quite pretentious. He was just so-so in appearance, but he was good at dressing up and had some money.

It just so happened that Li Mu's family had some money, so he didn't take Lu Jiyu seriously at all.

But later, he and Zhou Zifang became familiar with each other because of their family relationship, and only then did he get to know Lu Jiyu better.

Li Mu has studied abroad over the years and has met many top talents. Lu Jiyu may not be the best person he knows, but he is definitely the most sincere.

Sincere to the point of being sincere.

Like when he inexplicably went to tutor German students, a seemingly pointless act, perhaps Lu Jiyu was the only one willing to try. Then there was the high school entrance exam, where the recording was filled with noise, causing many students to miss the lesson but unable to speak out. It was Lu Jiyu who led the charge, demanding a replay. This incident became quite a commotion, and thanks to the exam center, the entire English listening section had to be replayed. Those who heard about it praised Lu Jiyu for his courage, his willingness to stand up for himself. But others, behind his back, laughed at him for making such a fuss when, in the end, he'd only gotten a regular high school grade.

But Li Mu had a friend who was in the same examination room with Lu Jiyu, and he sat diagonally behind Lu Jiyu.

He said that when the recording was played a second time, Lu Jiyu didn't even listen; he was just writing the essay the whole time. Even the invigilator was so puzzled that he stopped by him several times.

"I later realized that the reason he did that wasn't for himself."

Li Mu still remembers his classmate's original words. Why was that? Sometimes he wanted to ask Lu Jiyu in person, but the answer he would probably get was just a casual "Is there such a thing?"

According to Lu Jiyu's personality, he would just do it. If everything required a reason, people would be so tired.

The tears shed in youth can be due to unwilling regret after acting recklessly, or the heart-wrenching pain caused by impulsive behavior, or tears of joy caused by high spirits. No matter which one it is, it should not be due to hesitation or indecision.

Every moment of youth is precious, even tears should not be wasted.

I remember that one time Li Mu was in the UK and was miserable because of his final exams. He got drunk and went crazy in the group chat. It was only after Lu Jiyu called him that he rushed over.

It was probably around two or three in the morning in China, and Lu Jiyu's voice was a little sticky and hoarse.

He said, "Li Mu, look at yourself in a mirror now."

"The socialist successor, not yet 18, is taking his final exam alone in a capitalist country."

"Honestly, I admire you so much. If it were me, I would have swum back along the English Channel the next day."

Li Mu was amused by his laughter and wiped away his tears: "Then you should swim to France."

Lu Jiyu also laughed: "That's quite vivid."

Later, the two chatted for a long time, but no one remembered what they talked about.

Although Li Mu never said it, it was definitely a great feeling to be affirmed by Lu Jiyu. Lu Jiyu was the benchmark among their group. No one ever said it out loud, but the yardstick for him in their hearts never changed.

However, even someone as eye-catching as Lu Jiyu has been harassed by some evil spirits over the years.

A new milk tea shop called "The Princess of the King" recently opened on the first floor of the Financial Building. Li Mu's thoughts had been lingering over his time in the UK. Yesterday, he packed up five cups straight from the airport as soon as he landed. He couldn't finish them, but he truly felt the joy of a miser. Li Mu thought the name was interesting, the online reviews were good, and best of all, the line wasn't long. He went in, ordered a cup for himself, and packed up two for the two men upstairs.

Sometimes, fate is just strange, or perhaps it's just a matter of how disgusting it is. Li Mu had just paid and scanned the QR code when a hand suddenly reached out from behind and tapped him on the shoulder. His first reaction was that it was Lu Jiyu and the others. When he turned around and saw them, his smile immediately fell.

The person who tapped him on the shoulder was Lin Liwei, a well-known bully in the class next to theirs in junior high. Born with little money, he disliked studying and had been drawn to society at an early age. Li Mu's eyes flicked to the person next to him, where two of his followers were. One, with yellow hair, was unfamiliar, but the other was incredibly familiar.

Xu Junfeng.

"Unlucky, open the door for him! Unlucky has arrived!" His first reaction was to pull out his phone and send a WeChat message to Lu Jiyu, asking them not to come down to the milk tea shop to find him. But before he could even come up with an excuse, two tall figures stepped through the door.

Handsome and eye-catching.
