Chapter 62

Chapter 62

The room was dark, the only light coming from a lamp behind the bathroom door.

Lu Jiyu bent down and gently put the person he was holding horizontally on the bed. Before he could do anything, the half-drunk person consciously rolled half a circle in the quilt under him, wrapping himself tightly like a silkworm pupa.

Jiang Wan was a little more awake now. She was wrapped in the quilt, with only a pair of eyes showing. The person standing beside the bed asked: "Did you know this a long time ago?"

"What do you mean?" Seeing that the other person was still interested in chatting with him, Lu Jiyu dragged a chair over and sat down beside the bed.

"The matter between Li Qingxi and Li Mu."

"Yeah." Lu Jiyu nodded slightly, "How's the saying? A bystander sees more clearly." He leaned over and took out an electric mosquito coil from the bedside table next to him. After looking around, he stood up and plugged the electric mosquito coil into the socket at the corner of the bed, then returned to his original position and sat down. When he raised his eyes, they met the person lying on the bed.

Jiang Wan narrowed his eyes: "I want to lie down for a while? Or you can go back first?"

"They're crazy now, drinking wine like water. I'm going to die if I go back."

"Is this why you came back halfway? I thought you were worried about me."

Seeing her beaming with joy, Lu Jiyu couldn't help but think of what Li Yiran had said to him yesterday.

"Jiang Wan's family atmosphere is very suffocating. She has a mother who strictly controls her and a father who is basically a hands-off boss."

"You know about the scandals Jiang Wan got into in junior high, right? It all started because her class monitor deliberately had someone approach her, took photos, and posted them online to spread rumors about her. She confronted them, but they denied it, so she just went along with it."

"At that time, almost no one believed her because she was pretty and didn't like studying. In the eyes of those around her, a girl like her was born to do such a thing."

"Even her parents went to the school several times about this and scolded her in front of the teacher."

A melodious chord music gently interrupted Lu Jiyu's memories.

"My phone's ringing."

Jiang Wan took a hand out from under the quilt and pointed at the mobile phone on the bedside table. Lu Jiyu came to her senses and picked up the phone and handed it to her.

The caller ID showed Li Yiran.

Jiang Wan had no intention of avoiding people, so he answered the phone directly in front of Lu Jiyu, but hung up after a few words.

"He flew back to Nanyuan today and called me to say goodbye."

Lu Jiyu hummed lightly and continued looking at her.

Jiang Wan put down his phone and burrowed deeper into the bed. "What did Li Yiran say to you yesterday?"

Lu Jiyu tilted his head and thought for a moment, looking both cute and cunning. "All of them."

Jiang Wan didn't believe it: "For example?"

Lu Jiyu tapped his fingers on the armrest of his chair and began to recount to her, "You always fail the 800-meter test. The last time you took the make-up test, you had Chen Meiyun pretend to faint to distract the PE teacher so you could take a shortcut. But you were still discovered, and not only was your score canceled, you were also made to run ten laps as punishment."

"When you finally got to eat a chicken drumstick in the cafeteria, you were so excited that you used your chopsticks too hard, and the drumstick on your plate flew right into the plate of the person next to you."

"Do you want to hear more?" Lu Jiyu crossed his arms and seemed to be telling all the embarrassing things Jiang Wan had done in junior high school.

"Okay, you can shut up now." Jiang Wan regretted starting this topic.

But Lu Jiyu continued to ramble on as if he hadn't heard her: "When you were throwing chalk erasers at your classmates, you once threw it right in the face of our homeroom teacher as she walked into the classroom. For that, you were punished by sitting in the back for a whole class and writing a thousand-word self-criticism, right?"

"Oh, and—"

"Snap."

A pillow flying in the air hit Lu Jiyu in the face, finally stopping him.

After rubbing his hit nose, he smiled and tilted his neck back, determined to lie down where he fell. He held the pillow tightly in his arms with both hands and rested his chin on it. His sharp and beautiful eyes stared motionlessly at the girl who was lying sideways on the bed and looking at her in the dark night.

"Jiang Wan, why were you so interesting before?"

Why is it that you and I have only heard such interesting things from other people's mouths?

Why did you, such an interesting person, suffer the slander and accusations of a small group at school, the misunderstanding and even the aggression of your parents and teachers? Your father's indifference, your mother's hysteria, you couldn't escape it all, but you kept fighting.

Then why don't you ever say a word, to the world, to your friends or to me?

"Is that all he told you?"

Lu Jiyu sat in the shadows, his nose gradually turning red, his eyes slowly reddening. He took a deep breath, tilted his head back, and after suppressing the emotion, he put on a relaxed expression: "What else? How about you also tell me what happened between you two? I want to see if your confessions are correct and whether you have lied to me."

He said this with the tone of a man who had been ripped off by an egg seller at the market early in the morning. He sounded resentful and petty.

Jiang Wan poked his head out from under the quilt and shook his head: "Lu Jiyu, your acting is really not that good. You can't even act jealous."

"Are you sure you want to see me jealous?" Lu Jiyu retracted his outstretched legs, resting his wrists on his knees and swaying them. The night enveloped his figure, making it look neat and fearless. "I'm telling you, I'm very jealous."

"Really? I'm scared to death."

"I grew up drinking vinegar, so I'm afraid of you."

Lu Jiyu stood up and picked up the pillow that Jiang Wan had just thrown to her and put it away. He softened his tone and said helplessly, "Okay, stop talking and go to sleep for a while."

Jiang Wan hadn't slept well recently, and now that she was drunk she was a little sleepy, but she still didn't want to sleep.

After all, it's rare to be alone with Lu Jiyu.

So she patted the empty seat next to her generously and invited Lu Jiyu to come up: "Come over and sing a song for me, and I'll go to sleep."

Lu Jiyu looked down at her, his eyes somewhat speechless: "Is this why you want to sleep in my room?"

"I just asked you to sing a song, what are you thinking? Didn't I sing for you last time? It's a good idea to return the favor, okay? And I came to your room because I couldn't find my room key."

This sounds quite true.

But Lu Jiyu was not used to going to bed with his outer clothes on.

Of course, it was absolutely impossible for her to let him change into pajamas and lie on the bed in front of her.

"What do you want to hear?"

He lay down, but not completely. A pillow propped up behind his head, one long leg resting on the chair beside the bed. Jiang Wan also sat up and leaned against the headboard. The two of them stared at the black TV screen on the opposite wall for a while in tacit understanding. No one spoke for a while. It was so quiet that you could hear the dripping sound of the faucet in the bathroom that was not closed tightly. Finally, Jiang Wan turned his gaze and looked sideways at Lu Jiyu beside him.

Outside the door, there were sporadic sounds of other tourists playing and laughing.

The two looked at each other. In the dim light, no one could see the other clearly, but the emotions surging in their eyes were so clear that they seemed to have turned into entities.

"Do you want a kiss?" Jiang Wan had just finished speaking when Lu Jiyu raised his hand and grabbed the back of her head, pressing it towards him.

Jiang Wan's mouth was slightly open, and Lu Jiyu pecked her upper lip lightly. He looked at her with half-lidded eyes, as if asking if she could, but without waiting for an answer, his tongue pushed open her teeth and penetrated deeply, entangled with her. The kiss was not intense, but back and forth. The soft sound of water pressed against her lips seemed to cast a layer of moist mist around them. Jiang Wan's fingertips entangled in Lu Jiyu's hair, and he leaned over to press her down and kiss her.

Jiang Wan let out a soft moan, and the hand that was behind her head had slid to the back of her neck without her knowing when, and then pressed forward hard, the two of them pressed together almost tightly.

After kissing for a while, Jiang Wan felt that the twisted position made her a little uncomfortable, so she moved. Lu Jiyu slowly stopped and bit her lower lip again, then asked with an unbearable breath: "Are you uncomfortable?"

As he spoke, his other hand, which had been hanging on the quilt, wrapped around Jiang Wan's waist and back. With a little force, he lifted her directly into his arms and sat her sideways. He grabbed the quilt beside her and covered her legs with it, then pressed it tightly. "Is this okay?"

Jiang Wan put her hands around his neck and nodded. Lu Jiyu then lowered his head and kissed the corner of her mouth again, asking her, "Kiss her for a while longer?"

"Are you okay?"

Lu Jiyu laughed hoarsely, "Isn't that a bit premature of you to ask?" He leaned forward, biting her mouth again, clinging to her. Jiang Wan's kissing skills were actually quite poor; she didn't know how to breathe. Lu Jiyu realized this shortly after they'd kissed. She melted into his hands, her usual cleverness and pride now transformed into a delicate and innocent expression.

No more kissing.

Lu Jiyu touched the back of her hand, and finally kissed her face. He wiped the two water lines at the corners of her mouth with his fingers, and smiled slightly while panting: "Dizzy?"

Jiang Wan rested her head on his shoulder, looking as if she didn't want to pay attention to her: "You are obviously drunk."

"Lu Jiyu, did you drink quite a lot too?"

"It's definitely not as much as you, you drunkard." Jiang Wan's breath tickled the skin on his collarbone. Lu Jiyu was already feeling uncomfortable. He touched her ear and whispered in her ear, "Can you go down and lie down?"

"Why?"

"I feel bad."

"What's up with you?"

"What do you think?"

Jiang Wan recovered and asked knowingly, then thought of the question from last time, but asked it in a different way: "Did you feel it after watching the movie, or do you feel it now?"

Only she could ask such a dog question.

Lu Jiyu's ears weren't the only ones red; the area where his collarbone met his neck was also gradually turning pink. His face still wore a dog-like expression, but the inexplicable stickiness in his eyes betrayed him completely. He coldly spat out one word: "You."

I don't feel anything when I watch movies, and I don't feel anything when I do it myself, but when I see you, I feel something. I feel a lot. Is that okay?

"Are you satisfied?" He ruffled Jiang Wan's hair with a mischievous look in his eyes.

"Let me go, I need to go to the bathroom."

Jiang Wan got off his legs, leaned against the side with a pillow in her arms, and gave him a knowing look: "Take your time."

Lu Jiyu was halfway out of bed when he turned around and looked at her: "Slow down, slow down! I'm going to the bathroom, okay?"

Do you really think he is a sex maniac with horny brain?

As soon as the bathroom door closed, Jiang Wan lay down. She was really sleepy now, and with her eyes closed, she could only hear the occasional barking of dogs and the cawing of crows in the distance.

When Lu Jiyu returned, Jiang Wan was almost asleep, her face rosy, her head resting on the pillow. Seeing how comfortable she was, he decided to tease her. He lay back down as before, tucked her in, and then used his fingers, which had just been rinsed with cold water, to cool her face.

Jiang Wan wasn't completely asleep yet. She turned her head away angrily and tried to hit him with her eyes closed. Lu Jiyu didn't dodge, but opened her palms to let her hit her. Jiang Wan was drunk and didn't know how to use her strength. She hit him twice with both palms, saying, "I'm going to sleep, Lu Jiyu. Can you please stop disturbing me?"

Lu Jiyu covered the hand that had just hit her and pinched it, teasing her: "Didn't you say you wanted to hear me sing?"

“I’ve already heard of it.”

"Mmmmm, mmmmm, sssss." Jiang Wan closed his eyes and imitated a series of noises. Lu Jiyu realized halfway through that he was imitating the sound of their kissing just now.

“It sounds good.”

"I'll listen again next time."

Lu Jiyu was immediately rendered speechless.

How interesting.

How cute.

Lu Jiyu had lived for eighteen years and had seen all kinds of people and scenery, but the girl before him was undoubtedly a whole new universe.

When Li Yiran told him about Jiang Wan's past, he felt regretful. Why did he wait a little longer? Maybe the door would open. Maybe he could have met her earlier and accompanied her through those difficult years as a friend.

But now he feels fortunate, fortunately they are still young, fortunately they meet again, fortunately you are by my side now.

It had begun to rain outside, raindrops hitting the windows and falling onto the grassland, eventually forming a long stream that flowed through the long-dried ditch.

A dead tree comes back to life with spring.

All things are waiting for a new life.

"Jiang Wan——"

"Jiang Wan——"

"Jiang Wan——"

Her hand was still in his palm.

No one answered him; she had fallen asleep.

Lu Jiyu laughed silently, he raised his head and looked at the ceiling. Every time he felt painful and uncomfortable, he would always think of Chen Wenshan and Lu Mingyan.

He wanted them to tell him what he should do and how to do it so that everyone would be happy.

A writer once said, when I feel vulnerable, I repeat your name.

And now, just repeating your name has made him laugh unconsciously. His heart is like a volcano that has been dormant for many years, but now, hot and boiling magma is surging and roaring wildly beneath the surface.

Is it happiness?

Is this what happiness is?

What is love? No matter she is by your side or not, as long as you think of her, you will smile sincerely and feel the warmth in your chest as if bathed in sunshine. That is love.

My lifelong wish.

It means that you can reach a conspiracy with someone.

"Jiang Wan."

"You are my accomplice."

I am an accomplice of all the truth, deception, falsehood, pain, happiness, regret, loneliness and unwillingness in my present and future life.
