Chapter 174 The Door to the Other Shore

Everyone found Fang Xiu's explanation reasonable. Predicting the future was already abnormal enough; if one could predict it infinitely, that would be too outrageous.

Of course, reality is often just that exaggerated.

In fact, Fang Xiu was not lying. The side effects of foresight were indeed significant. If one's life is at stake, how could the side effects not be severe?

"Alright, let's go to the right then, since men go left and women go right." Yang Ming casually pointed to the right.

Ma Xingbang was surprised.

"Shouldn't men walk on the left and women on the right?"

Yang Ming chuckled: "That's called reverse thinking! If you can think of men on the left and women on the right, the designer must have thought of that too, so I deliberately went to the right side."

Ma Xingbang was speechless: "Did the designer know that all the visitors would be men? What if there were both men and women? Fang Xiu, I think it would be safer for you to have some foresight."

Fang Xiu ignored him and trusted Yang Ming's choice.

"Go to the right, Yang Ming, you go first, you'll lead the way from now on."

Although Yang Ming was surprised, he didn't say much and walked ahead to lead the way in a carefree manner.

The group walked to the right, where a narrow, cramped corridor led.

The deeper you go, the stronger the musty smell becomes on the yellowed carpet.

After walking for about ten minutes, three more paths appeared in front of them. These three paths looked almost identical, making it difficult to tell them apart from their appearance.

“Something’s not right.” Bai Qi suddenly frowned and said, “We walked in a straight line for about ten minutes, which is the limit of one floor. But now there are three more paths extending forward. The paths are too long. The second floor we saw before didn’t have this much space. And the layout here doesn’t look like a hospital at all. It’s more like a maze.”

“The space here has been expanded, and the environment is almost exactly the same, so it’s easy to get lost. Let’s make a mark,” Fang Xiu suggested.

Everyone nodded.

Bai Qi then took out a short knife and carved a cross on the wall.

"Brother Xiu, are you letting me choose from the three paths again this time?" Yang Ming asked somewhat guiltily. Although he was the Mandate of Heaven, this thing couldn't be used as a map.

If we've already encountered so many strange things before even reaching the fifth floor, it's easy to imagine how much more dangerous the fifth floor must be. If we take the wrong turn, we could very well face certain death.

"You choose."

"Alright, let's take the middle road then."

In the end, Yang Ming chose the middle road because he was too lazy to turn.

The group continued onward, and five minutes later, they encountered three more forks in the road.

As usual, Yang Ming was given the choice. This time, Yang Ming chose the left fork in the road because it was the only path he hadn't taken yet.

They encountered no danger along the way, and soon the road came to an end.

At the end of the road is a door.

A look of joy flashed across Yang Ming's face: "There's a door here, it must be the exit."

He was about to open the door when Bai Qi stopped him.

"Be careful, there might be something strange behind the door." With that, Bai Qi pressed his ear against the door and listened carefully, but all he heard was deathly silence.

Bai Qi frowned slightly, then took out a short knife, preparing to poke a hole in the door to see what was inside. Unfortunately, no matter how hard he tried, the door remained undamaged.

Yang Ming couldn't wait any longer and pulled Bai Qi aside: "Alright, we'll know if there's any danger once we open it and see. Don't worry, I'll open a crack first."

As they were speaking, a soft click was heard, and the door opened a crack, revealing a deep darkness that seemed to shut out all light.

Even the dim light from outside couldn't penetrate it at all.

"It seems there's no danger," Yang Ming said, then opened the door completely.

The scene inside the door was revealed to everyone: nothing but a cold, deep darkness, a darkness that was unsettling.

The group hesitated for a moment, unsure whether to go in, because it was too dark inside. In such darkness, going in would be no different from being blind.

If danger were to occur, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Just as everyone was struggling with this decision.

Buzz~

"Did you hear anything?"

"It seems to be coming from inside the door."

Buzzing~

The buzzing sound from inside the door grew clearer and was rapidly approaching.

Bai Qi's expression changed drastically, and he hurriedly shouted, "Close..."

He only managed to say the word "closed," without even mentioning "door."

The next moment, a loud buzzing sound rang out!

Buzz!

Yang Ming slammed the door shut, and just as he was halfway shut, a tremendous force struck the door, sending him flying.

Everyone present was experienced, and upon seeing this, they immediately retreated quickly to create distance.

At this moment, everyone finally saw what was inside the door.

One after another, strange creatures, resembling snakes and insects, swarmed out of the door. They were of various shapes and deformed bodies. Some were slippery like maggots, while others were covered in green scales like pythons. Although they had no wings, they could treat the air as soil and wriggle forward frantically.

They charged towards the crowd like a jet of water.

Upon seeing these bizarre sights, Fang Xiu's pupils contracted instantly, because he recognized these strange snakes and insects!

To be precise, he encounters these strange things every day.

That's right, this is the most common eerie sight floating around everywhere.

Although the supernatural phenomena are varied and bizarre, they are all basically unique and rarely act in groups.

These snakes and insects are strangely different; they move around in the air like plankton, and they are always in large swarms, like locusts passing by.

Moreover, they are very common; almost wherever Fang Xiu goes, he can see these snakes and insects floating eerily in mid-air.
