Chapter 79 Slipped Away

Inside the treatment room.

A fist-sized luminous object floated up and down within the room, its warm white light fading in and out. As the adventurers watched in astonishment, it hovered above their injured companion, its light scattering like starlight. A soft glow enveloped the wounded man, his wounds visibly healing, his pale complexion gradually returning to normal.

The trapper covered his mouth and whispered in the archer's ear, "What is this, a light spirit?" When the archer didn't respond for a long time, he gently tapped him. "Hey, I'm talking to you."

His companion turned his head and said, "Shh." Then he turned his head again to look at the elf, as if he wanted to imprint its appearance firmly in his mind.

Eryi asked several people to carry their injured companions out of the treatment room and close the door of the treatment room to block their sight if they wanted to continue exploring.

"Your companions are now well. Have you counted your 130 silver coins?"

"Sorry," the archer took out the small bag awkwardly. He had stopped counting since he started treating Eryi, and now he had long forgotten where he had counted to.

Eryi gathered his coat, turned his back, and climbed the stairs to the third floor. "You can choose to wake him up now, or let him get some sleep. The prayer room downstairs is open to the public. If you don't mind, you can rest in there. The bathroom is at the back of the first floor. Once you have enough silver coins, put them in the box at the door. Do you know where I'm talking about?"

"Yeah." The archer nodded blankly and watched Eryi leave. She didn't seem to want to wait for him to count the money.

"Don't try to find any loopholes." Eryi's voice became increasingly distant.

"If you don't pay enough, you won't be able to leave this door."

The adventurers silently expressed their fear of even the slightest thought of fleeing. They possessed a completely tamed demon wolf, a light elf, magical items made of who knows what, a magical carriage worth thousands of magic coins, and the priceless laws of space. They believed the priestess's words were absolutely true.

The swordsman woke their still-drowsy companion. He was groggy and exhausted, but at least everything else was fine. He finally felt relieved and decided to carry him to the prayer room to let him rest for a while.

The hotel they were staying in was in a remote location near the city wall, about half an hour's walk away, and they were sleeping in a large bunk bed, the kind that could accommodate ten people. Whether they went back to the hotel to rest or not didn't make much difference to them; it was even quieter here.

The archers and the trappers were counting the silver coins beside the coin box - they didn't dare to give even a single coin less.

"Was that a light elf just now?" the trap master brought up the past. "I can't believe I saw an elf."

"I know what you're going to say." The archer paused while counting the silver coins and gave his companion a long look. "One of these coins costs a thousand magic coins. If you're planning on taking it, you're risking your life."

"No, one thousand magic coins is the price of an elemental spirit. There's no record of any transactions involving light spirits in historical records." The trap master began to use his usually useless knowledge: "Don't worry, I would never try to take advantage of it. I'm just... too surprised. Only the most devout priests can gain the favor of light spirits, etc..."

"What?"

"Which god is she a priest of?"

"I heard about it when it opened. It seemed like a new god. Who exactly is it..." The archer fell into deep thought.

"She," the trap master pointed upward mysteriously. "Is she the Divine Guide of some church?" Only large churches, large enough to support an entire nation, were given the title of Pope. The highest leaders of smaller churches were generally called Divine Guides.

"Probably not. If she's a divine guide, her fees are too cheap."

As the two chatted, a commotion erupted outside the healing inn. The archer dropped his last silver coin into the box and poked his head out. A group of drunks, arm in arm, were slowly approaching them. Several of them were familiar faces, including the Adventurer's Guild host who had just kicked them out.

He held the bottle in one hand and asked rudely, "How is your companion now?"

A relatively clear voice came from behind the drunks: "I know a certain priest and his address. If you can keep his address secret and are willing to pay sufficient support, I can introduce him to you. However, I may need to increase the late-night fee."

"Thank you," the archer replied. "My companion is doing well now. The priest here is quite remarkable." He said dryly, "He is a priest who possesses the spirit of light."

Fluffy crouched on the podium, looking down with haughty pride at the group of humans reeking of alcohol. It didn't know why it had become like this. Its new owner had instructed it to keep humans in the prayer room as much as possible, so that it could gain some benefits. According to its old habits, it would have torn all of these humans apart long ago and thrown them outside to feed the flowers and plants.

"Nothing hurt!" a drunk man slurred. "How did she do that? Don't hit me, I'm not drunk."

"Are you sure he was bitten by a red parrot snake?" The wheat wine was not strong, and the receptionist was almost sober. He began to stare at the injured man's body and asked, "Where is he injured?"

"Look, there are teeth marks on my calf."

"Tell me again how much she received?"

"1 gold coin, 30 silver coins."

"The potion that cures the venom of the red parrot snake costs one gold coin, but the chances of it being used after purchase are slim. If it's not used on the spot, it will almost certainly cause limb paralysis and won't heal the wound immediately." The receptionist's occupational ailment kicked in, and he began rapidly calculating the price. "A good deal."

The injured man finally couldn't stand the noise anymore and woke up. "What happened?" He was still a little dazed and couldn't remember much of what happened before.

Everyone told him how he had come back from the brink of death.

"Oh, there's a puppy here. Come here, puppy." A young man with curly hair found Fluffy. He was drunk and his steps were unsteady.

Flush bared his teeth, backed away, and with a huge leap, kicked the curly-haired young man in the face with his forefoot. Then he strode out of the prayer room and decided to stay on the roof.

The next morning, when Eryi got up, she was a little surprised to find that the prayer room had brought her more than 600 points of extra energy value.

When I went downstairs, I saw a group of drunks lying on the ground.

"Good morning." She woke everyone up.

Everyone who woke up was confusedly trying to recall what happened the night before, and when they came to their senses, they all felt guilty.

"Would you like some milk?" Eryi was in a good mood. Thinking that there was extra milk, she asked with a smile.

Everyone glanced at her and fled the treatment station, leaving only the few adventurers who had come for treatment the night before. They gave Eryi a greeting from their own plane, saying, "May your gods bless you," and hurriedly left behind them.

"Is milk so unpalatable?" Eryi asked Judy, who had just walked in, with a puzzled look on his face.

From that day forward, word of the Healing Station's positive image spread among Sunset City's adventurers, and people began visiting from time to time for treatment. This gradually created a sense of crisis for some of the more prosperous local churches.

The attitude of the staff in the Adventurer's Guild has changed a lot. Occasionally, they would suggest that some new adventurers come to her for treatment. They would also suggest that some new adventurers, if they couldn't find a place to stay, could occasionally stay overnight at the Healing Inn, but they must remember to be polite.

"The High Priestess is very generous, but you must not anger the demon wolf she raises. Move out as soon as you find a place to live. We cannot exploit her kindness recklessly."

The newlyweds agreed ignorantly, but of course they would not desecrate the High Priest's place.

From that day on, one or two adventurers would occasionally spend the night in the prayer room of the Healing Inn, but they were all very cautious, even though the Healing Inn had always clarified to the public that it was just a shop.

But for most people on this plane, this was the temple. Even if they didn't place their faith in any particular deity, the existence of gods was certain. They firmly believed that within the temple, a god was watching over them. They dared not act rashly.

Eryi had hinted to the adventurers many times that they could spend the night in the prayer room more often, but they didn't dare.

Rumors about Eryi himself began to become outrageous within a certain small circle.

An adventurer was bragging to his new teammates about the events of that night, which had given him much-welcomed gossip.

"Do you know what the first thing we drunk guys heard when we woke up? She actually said with a smile, 'Would you like some milk?' I swear every pore of my body was covered in goose bumps!"

"It was horrible. We stayed at her place late at night without her consent. I remember someone vomiting in the room."

"Old George was so scared! I'll never forget the look on his face!"

"But I don't know why, maybe it was because of the gods' blessing. I slept very comfortably that night, and the next day I didn't feel hungover at all. I felt very energetic."

He wasn't the only one who felt this way. So, occasionally, during the day, you'd see adventurers sitting quietly in the prayer room, perhaps just taking a short break or having a late lunch. They'd occasionally describe the outside world to Dale and tell her stories of their adventures.

Under the protection of the heroic guardian, Mao Rongrong, no one dared to act rashly.

But what Eryi didn't expect was that what made the treatment station so popular wasn't the treatment methods she imagined, but her washroom. Yes, that separate wet and dry toilet with a shower.

On this day, Eryi was being pestered by the furry cat, and a special lounge was set up for him according to its request.

A gorgeous carriage stopped outside the treatment station, and a noble lady stepped out. She was dressed in black, with a black hat on. After getting off the carriage, she bowed slightly to Eryi.

"Can I come in?"

"Of course, ma'am."

As soon as the noblewoman entered the treatment station, she elegantly covered her mouth with her hand and exclaimed softly. "Perfect spatial laws." Her housekeeper, whose hair was meticulously combed, walked up to Eryi and consulted with her.

"I'm sorry, it's not good to say this so loudly outside. It's like this, our lady wants to see your bathroom." The butler said seriously.
