Chapter 83 Slipped Away

That day, before receiving a reply from the Royal Capital Headquarters, the Chief Priest of the Blessing Goddess decided to use Sunset City's teleportation array and travel to the Royal Capital in person.

The news of Maria's priests' exceptional healing abilities was suppressed by the various churches. Leaving the street where the Adventurer's Guild stood, you'd hear absolutely no news of the healing station. They were well aware of the devastating impact this would have on their existing business if word got out.

A wizard's tower.

"What is this?" Garden's mentor, Amy, examined the earth elemental crystal in her hand. "I asked you to buy some magic supplements, and you brought me this—a transparent, earthy-yellow stone? I gave you three magic coins."

"Yes, this only costs one magic coin, and there are two left." Garden returned the remaining magic coins to Amy.

"Is that what I'm talking about?"

"Clive's Pharmacy is sold out of magic supplements. They say they won't be restocked until next week." Garden said, "This one's not bad either. I heard it can replenish individual elements."

"I heard?" Amy felt a little irritated. In his younger days, he might have told Jarden to jump from the tower. But now, he wordlessly took the remaining magic coins and told Jarden to reorganize the basic scrolls for the magic circle.

Magician education across the continent has evolved into a systematic system. Certain major cities have specialized schools that focus on teaching students magical language and the history of magic. The capital's dedicated academy also offers instruction in practical magic, while Sunset City focuses more on practical skills, teaching students how to assist magicians and the basics of magic circle diagramming.

——To put it simply, control your hands and don’t shake them, even when you are scolded.

Once these students have completed their studies, the magicians who own the Mage Tower will regularly visit the school to select apprentices. Magicians of level three and above are eligible to build a secondary tower, while those of level four can build a main tower.

Magicians have different ways of recruiting apprentices. Whenever a famous fifth-level magician is short of money, he will go to the academy and recruit dozens of apprentices. He doesn't have many rules, but the tuition is very expensive.

Amy was a fourth-tier mage, over 50 years old, and his mage tower was still a secondary tower, built around his mentor's main tower. He considered himself diligent since childhood, and not necessarily inferior to those self-proclaimed intelligent mages. Therefore, he preferred diligent apprentices, even if their brains weren't as sharp.

Recently, he began to doubt his decision. After all, a few days ago, one of his disciples was thrown into jail because he was not smart enough and could not defeat the priest of a certain god.

Amy stared at the elemental crystal he'd casually tossed onto the table, reaffirming that Jarden's brain wasn't working properly. He felt that if this continued, rumors would inevitably spread that all his apprentices were idiots, so he decided to personally confront them.

He tapped a microphone on the table, which was connected to a room filled with magic scrolls. After confirming the connection, he began to ask, "Is Jarden here? Where did you buy these stones?"

"I'm Jarden." A slightly muffled voice came back from the microphone: "I bought it at the Healing Station."

"What station?" Amy didn't understand. He hadn't been out for a long time. Ever since he had his own mage tower and was able to recruit apprentices, he had let the apprentices do almost all the chores. Otherwise, why would they do anything?

"Healing station." Garden repeated again.

"I haven't heard of it." Amy replied: "Where is it and what does it do?"

Another apprentice, who was passing by with documents in his arms, couldn't stand their conversation anymore. He walked over to Jarden and said into the microphone, "Teacher Amy, do you remember why Saroyan was put in jail a few days ago? It's right there."

There was silence for a while on the other end of the microphone, then it was turned off.

When the apprentices saw the magic lines on the microphone dim, they knew that their mentor had turned off the function. They continued with their own work, but Amy fell into deep thought.

Because of the theft, he had his windows nearly smashed by the various birds delivering mail from the Magic Guild and the Believer Guild. For two whole days, he did almost nothing. Every time he sat down to think about doing something, a new letter arrived, and the last one involved the Abyss.

Amy didn't like Saroyan because he'd become so arrogant since he officially registered as a first-level magician. He'd lost his diligence and recently been messing around with the widow. So, he hadn't really considered doing anything for Saroyan.

But that didn't mean he wasn't curious about what Saroyan wanted to steal. ——What could have made a second-level magician attack a priest in Sunset City?

Amy's gaze turned to the crystal on the table. She didn't even have time to think about why her apprentice was involved with the healing station. She began to look at this thing carefully for the first time.

The ochre-colored transparent crystal was devoid of any overflowing elements. Whether looking from the outside or peering through the transparent crystal wall, no trace of any magic array could be seen. This thing wasn't a monster core, nor was it an elemental ore, and certainly not a magic energy storage device crafted by magicians. After all, the price wouldn't allow it.

Amy thought about it, took it in her hand, and entered a meditative state.

Thick earth elementals gathered where his hand touched the crystal. He could absorb them immediately if he chose. He couldn't hold back, and in an instant, a visible crack appeared in the crystal, and his already abundant magic power was replenished.

"A crystal that only replenishes earth elements?" Amy came out of meditation. The crystal still had no element leakage. Judging from the small amount that was missing from the crystal, the magic power it replenished was more than that of a high-quality magic supplement.

The advantages of mana supplements are more than just a quick replenishment; they utilize potions to boost a magician's mana recovery. Compared to magic coins, they are more suitable for magicians, free of impurities, and the recovery rate is tailored to the magician's attributes.

Amy set the crystal aside and entered a meditative state again to check his magic power. The magic power provided by the elemental crystal was pure and clean. He broke away from meditation and used the magic void to draw a magic circle, which he used without any discomfort.

After thinking for a while, Amy pushed away the clutter on the table, spread out a piece of paper made of some kind of magical beast skin, took out magic ink from the cabinet, and began to draw on the paper.

Finally, he took the remaining elemental crystals and used magic to split them into tiny pieces of equal size, and placed them on the connection points of the magic circle.

--start up.

As the ink on the magic circle lit up, the crystal began to melt into liquid, eventually lighting up the magic lamp that Amy had placed nearby.

"It can also be used as an energy source. It's more stable than magic coins and contains only one element." Amy confirmed and turned on the microphone at the table again: "Is Jarden here?"

"He just left and will be back soon." The voice of another apprentice came from the microphone.

"Then come up here." The voice through the microphone became unclear and Amy had no idea who he was talking to.

"I'll ask Jarden to go over later. If I don't go back to my room, the cauldron in the room will explode."

"It's you." The apprentice said this, and Amy immediately reacted: "Every time I ask you to do something, you say your crucible is going to explode. How many times has it exploded?"

"Thanks to you, it didn't explode in the end."

Eryi invited a famous private chef in Sunset City to prepare dinner for everyone, because the elemental crystals of the healing station finally opened and sold out at once, earning 83 magic coins.

The person who bought the crystals was Garden, an old customer. It was said that a famous drugstore was out of stock of magic supplements. His mentor was developing a large magic circle and needed a lot of magic supplements, so he asked him to come and buy all the crystals.

Half of that was purchased magic power, a small portion was provided by Mao Rongrong, and the rest was all Eryi's own magic power. Yes, she mixed in the Holy Element Crystals and sold them. They were the most abundant, and to her, they were worthless. Anyway, what they said was—they wanted everything, no restrictions on variety.

"Priest, may the gods bless you." The chef of the private restaurant was a very elegant woman. She brought two employees to help her. She also brought a donkey cart of ingredients, which seemed to be quite a grand event.

"Good afternoon," Eryi smiled at her friendlyly: "Let Judy take you to the kitchen." The chef of this private dish was introduced to her by adventurers, who praised her cooking skills to the sky and told her to try it if she had the chance.

Shortly after the chef walked into the kitchen of the healing station, a scream suddenly came from the kitchen, scaring Fluffy, who was lying on the side meditating, and made him stand up.

Loud exclamations of praise echoed from the kitchen: "Gods of Food, what am I seeing? The kitchen every chef dreams of!"

"Free and controllable flame!"

“Clean and temperature-controlled water!”

"The convenience of an oven that doesn't need to be preheated!" This one still needs to be preheated.

"And this thing I don't know what it's used for." It's a rice cooker and a steamer.

"And these knives..." Of course, she still loved the knives the most, but that didn't stop her from appreciating them.

The cooking table was at just the right height, with the seasoning boxes conveniently placed there - although most of them were empty, she couldn't wait to fill them up.

The adventurers emerging from the prayer room weren't surprised. "That familiar voice! Is that Mrs. Eddie?" They explained to Eryi, "Occasionally, when we get rare fresh ingredients, we go to her and pay her some coins to cook them for us. She always lets out a similar scream at these times; we're used to it."

"I believe you will get used to it soon." They believed that anyone who had tasted Mrs. Eddy's food once would never be able to live without it.

Also for safety reasons, Eryi moved the dinner time much earlier.

Mrs. Eddy went above and beyond, cooking a table full of local dishes: fish fillet gratin, corn soup, mashed potatoes, chicken and lamb, coleslaw, pan-fried fish fillet, steak, a stew made of some unknown magical substance, and even apple pie for the end of the meal.

“I saw you had a cooler, so I tried making this.” It was a smoothie topped with jam and milk, beautifully garnished with fruit.

It had to be said that Eryi was a bit surprised. Perhaps because the tavern in the small town had previously left a bad impression on her, she hadn't paid much attention to food since arriving in this dimension. Cooking for herself was time-consuming and difficult to do regularly. She had tried hiring a part-time cook, but unfortunately, the food wasn't as good as Judy's lunchbox.

Mrs. Eddy didn't leave until the dinner was over. She asked two of her employees to pack up and accepted the tip from Eryi.

"Master Priest, when I came in, I saw the recruitment sign you put up at the door. You are looking for a part-time cook, right?"

"Yes."

"Can you see if I can do that?"
