Chapter 65

Chapter 65

"alright."

Lin Yao stood up, his movements carrying a sense of ease that was completely different from the God-killing Judgment just now.

He subconsciously flicked the hem of his clothes with his hand, as if to brush off the non-existent dust. His posture was very much like an old farmer who had finally planted the last seedling after working hard in the fields.

On that face that was so perfect that it seemed otherworldly, there even appeared a look of pure joy of accomplishment.

He raised his hand and casually wiped his forehead with his knuckles - there, a tiny wound was oozing bright red blood, which was particularly glaring against the backdrop of silver hair and cold white skin.

The blood drop was rubbed away, leaving behind a strange red mark.

He blinked his clear and innocent blue eyes, as if he had just experienced a trivial trouble, rather than personally directing a final battle that would kill gods and destroy the enemy's three hundred years of ambition.

Now, like a customer carefully planning his shopping list in front of the supermarket shelves, he began to mutter to himself as if no one was around, sorting out the follow-up.

"Hmm... First of all, it must be the Purifiers... Otto is the boss, and he's been secretly destroying dungeons and eradicating those with special abilities. We have to eradicate them completely..."

He bent his blood-stained fingers.

"And that Eye of the Storm Project..." He paused, his tone carrying a hint of insight. "Tsk, what Eye of the Storm? Isn't it just about destroying all passages and completely erasing the historical traces of the Garden of Eden and the Ark Project? Those replicas are clearly scars and evidence left behind by humanity in its search for a new home and exploration of other worlds. Otto, this guy, wants to create a pristine new world ruled by his new god, ignorant of the past? It's sheer wishful thinking."

He continued counting, his thoughts frighteningly clear: "Then... the most troublesome thing is the energy problem of the dome core. After all, the fuel supply has been cut off..."

A glimmer of Otto's memory fragments flashed in the depths of his blue eyes. "But... I think I've found a way to solve the source of the pollution. It's in his memory... No, it's mine now."

He tilted his head slightly, as if confirming this newfound knowledge. "Eye of the Storm Project? Forget it. I don't have the time. Instances were originally a way for humans to obtain resources, but now... now that we have a way to address the source of pollution, these scarred passages are no longer necessary."

He counted the items one by one for a long time, oblivious to the surroundings, with meticulous logic and a calm tone as if he were discussing the dinner menu.

Finally, he looked up with satisfaction, as if he had finished his brainstorming.

Then, he saw Jin and Lu Cheng.

The two of them were staring at him with extremely complicated expressions. In Jin's crimson eyes was pure, almost frozen horror, as if he was truly getting to know the person in front of him for the first time.

And Lu Cheng... his face was even paler than Lin Yao's, his tightly pursed lips were bloodless, and in his eyes, whose memories had been tampered with by Lin Yao himself and which also carried a mixture of love and hate, there were indescribable emotions surging - fear, confusion, disbelief, and even a hint of... the pain of being stabbed by a deeper sense of deception.

They seemed to see an unknown being wearing human skin who had just completed a sacrificial ritual.

Lin Yao blinked his extremely innocent blue eyes, his long silver eyelashes fluttering, his face filled with pure confusion: "What's wrong?"

His voice was clear and contained just the right amount of concern. "Are you worried about something?"

After asking, he seemed to have a flash of inspiration, and said "Oh" as if he suddenly realized something, with a relaxed smile on his face, as if saying "So that's how it is", and even with a hint of comfort.

"Don't worry! I've already seen everything about the Purifiers' lair and the necessary intelligence nodes from Otto's memories. I guarantee that nothing will be missed."

As soon as these words were spoken, Lu Cheng's body trembled imperceptibly. His pupils suddenly constricted, as if pierced by an invisible icicle. He recalled Lin Yao's cold words, echoing in his ears like a curse.

"Unless it endangers my life, I have no interest in exploring other people's memories..."

And now, Lin Yao not only read it, but also read it so thoroughly, so naturally, and the object was his former mentor, the enemy he had just completely destroyed! This understated fulfillment of his promise made him feel a chill to the bone more than any attack.

Lin Yao seemed completely unaware of Lu Cheng's near-collapse, or rather, he noticed it but didn't care.

The innocent expression on his face became even more intense, and even carried a little helplessness of "How can you be so stupid and still not figure it out?" He suddenly realized again and explained in an almost reasonable tone.

"Although... the current situation isn't yet a threat to my life..."

He spread out his hands, his movements casual, with a little bit of his own blood still remaining between his fingers.

"But this concerns the future of the entire world. It's reasonable to use extraordinary measures in extraordinary times, right?"

His tone was relaxed, even a little bit seeking approval, as if they were just discussing whether to add a dish to dinner.

However, the absolute rationality and disregard for others' bottom line contained in those words made the air freeze.

It's all done, why ask if it's right? This isn't so much an explanation as it is a declaration—a declaration that he is still the one who can rightfully seize all initiative at any time, for any reason.

In this suffocating silence and strange contrast——

“BOOM!!!!!!”

A deafening roar, as if the very foundations of the world were being ripped apart, suddenly erupted. The entire Star Ruins Ruins shook violently, the spatial turbulence becoming even more violent. The distant scene began to flake and crumble like a shattered mirror! Dazzling, golden cracks, representing the collapse of the spatial structure, spread across the void like a spider web.

The Eye of the Storm project has been launched!

It was no longer the dazzling fireworks show that Otto had envisioned for the new god's ascension to the throne. At this moment, it sounded more like a heavy and desperate death knell for the old era.

The innocence on Lin Yao's face vanished instantly, as if it had never appeared before. With lightning speed, he grabbed the remains of Otto, whose soul had been completely lost, leaving only a cold metal shell, as if he were picking up an insignificant tool.

At the same time, he issued clear and calm instructions to Jin and Lu Cheng, who were still frozen in place, unable to react due to the sudden changes in front of them and the strange conversation just now. His voice penetrated the roar of the collapse.

"What are you daydreaming about? Let's go! The eye of the storm has begun."

The torrent of collapse chased them. Those spatial scars known as replicas, once a path for humanity to explore the unknown and seek hope, were being ruthlessly erased by Otto's legacy.

The channels by which humans replenish resources are disappearing.

But Lin Yao dragged the remains of his mentor, his silver hair dancing in the turbulent flow of space, his deep blue eyes reflecting the light of collapse and destruction, without a trace of despair. The corners of his mouth even curled up a very faint, very cold arc.

New hope has sprouted, not in Otto's cold memory chip, but in the mind of Lin Yao - the "old god" who has just ended an era with his own hands and is about to open another era with his own hands...

The solution to the source of pollution, the key to the true future... he held it.
