Chapter 122: Past Events (2)

Chapter 122: Past Events (2)

Xia Cheng had a cold face and slammed his palm heavily on the table, like a muffled thunder.

"You don't love anyone at all. You are a completely selfish person! You don't care about your child's life at all! I hate you! Xun Mo will hate you too after she knows the truth, and so will He Qing!"

Xun Youdong's expression changed and he turned pale. He was tall and handsome, and although he was almost fifty, he was still stronger than the average man. But at this moment, he suddenly hunched over.

Xia Cheng continued to stimulate.

"You've hurt so many people. Don't expect others to forgive you. I will definitely expose your true colors. You said An Wuyu was a lunatic, but aren't you one too!"

Xun Youdong gasped heavily:

"You told them!? You can't tell them! I did this for... for your own good."

He even started to talk without thinking.

"Back then, after Yimei died, I was also very sad. I was afraid that An Wuyu couldn't take care of Xun Mo, so I asked someone to kidnap her and send her to an orphanage. The director there was my friend. But Momo is He Qing and I's biological child after all, and you are not. If I keep you by my side, the truth will be revealed one day. I had no choice but to throw you away. I really had no choice!"

At this point, everything is finally clear.

Xia Cheng looked down at the photo in her hand and gave a wry smile.

"The only thing I can't understand is why you adopted Xun Sheng?"

Xun Youdong's gaze fell on the scraps of paper. Through the fragments, he thought of something that happened long ago. He swallowed hard, and the wrinkles at the corners of his eyes deepened because of fatigue.

"I can tell you, but you can't tell a single word of what I said today to anyone else."

"How can I trust you?" Xia Cheng continued, "You are cold-blooded and calculating."

Xun Youdong gripped the wooden chair tightly.

"My daughter, isn't it the same for you? Whether you believe it or not is just a matter of a word. If you believe it, then listen. If you don't believe it, then forget it."

Ginger is always more experienced, Xia Cheng thought, it is indeed so, just as he was about to speak, Xun Youdong said:

"If you don't tell me, this will won't change, and I'll give you an additional 10 percent. But if you tell me, then this house you live in and your pocket money will all be gone from you."

Xia Cheng smiled.

"Why do you think I care about this?"

"You don't have to care about these things, but if you want to know Xun Sheng's background, you can only ask me. It depends on your choice."

It sounded like a perfect solution for Xia Cheng, but Xia Cheng knew it was a form of coercion and inducement. He could change the will at any time by notifying his lawyer, and what he said might not be true. His need for Xia Cheng's verbal promise was nothing more than a whim.

Remind Xia Cheng that they are all in the same boat.

"Okay, I promise I won't tell them." Xia Cheng said.

Xun Youdong relaxed for a moment and slowly recounted what happened that year.

"Yimei and Xun Sheng's mother were good friends. After Yimei's accident, his mother wanted to find He Qing to tell her everything. But then her husband got into trouble, and she was too busy to take care of it."

"What does this have to do with you adopting Xun Sheng?"

"Don't worry." Xun Youdong fell into memory again: "After Xun Sheng's father got into trouble, he spent all the family's money. All the relatives avoided him and his mother. I happened to have some money, so I lent it to her as hush money. Perhaps because of her conscience, and because Xun Sheng's mother had no way to sue, she finally jumped off the building and committed suicide. As for Xun Sheng, I took him back home because of our friendship in college."

In fact, Xun Youdong also had his own selfish motives. For example, he was worried that the woman had left something for her son, and it would make him feel more at ease if he had it in front of him.

But he wouldn't say these.

His tone was somewhat sarcastic.

"Back in college, they joked that if they had a boy and a girl, they would become in-laws. But now, they've become brother and sister."

Xia Cheng's eyes sparkled, and she asked again, "Why did you take me back after I went to college?"

Xun Youdong explained one by one:

"After so many years together, He Qing and I have grown closer. Seeing her cry every now and then for her lost child, I feel really bad, so I found you again."

"So, from beginning to end, you never cared about my feelings."

Xia Cheng opened her lips slightly. The truth she was looking for was so harsh that it even hurt her heart. Although she had no hope for her father, she still felt so heartbroken and unable to breathe because of these words.

Finally, she asked:

"Have you ever loved An Yimei?"

Xun Youdong nodded seriously.

"I loved you once."

A quiet conversation ended.

Xun Youdong took a final look around the room, left behind the proof of his past love and the will, and left.

Xia Cheng carefully put the scraps of paper back into the red box.

In the shattered photo, An Yimei stood in the center, holding hands with Xun Youdong and smiling sweetly at the camera. An Wuyu secretly grasped the corner of her clothes, daring not to express his love. Because of his current mental state, what exactly An Wuyu had done in the past is no longer known.

Would Xun Youdong at that time blame himself now for not keeping the promise he made in his youth? Or, after all these years, has he ever regretted lying to someone?

Xia Cheng had no plans to tell He Qing and Xun Mo about this for the time being, as that would only cause trouble for herself.

She thought about what Xiao Lai was doing in Xun Mo's room and felt a little strange.

She clearly remembered Xiao Lai telling her that he would protect her and even gave her a gift. Although it was a bit puzzling, Xia Cheng really took note of his words. Now it seemed that the other party was obviously Xun Mo's man. Was he trying to have it both ways or to gain her trust by telling her these things?

After Xia Cheng put away the things on the table, she opened the doll that Xiao Lai had given her. Because there were too many things at home, she had not opened it since she brought it back. For safety reasons, Xia Cheng shone a flashlight into the doll's eyes. After seeing the red electronic eyes, she immediately covered the doll's eyes and hid it in the cabinet of a room she rarely went to.

This was evidence. If Xiao Lai threatened her in the future because he had discovered his affair with Xun Mo, Xia Cheng could hand the doll over to the police and use the IP address to track down the location. She remembered that Xiao Lai had a low level of education, so the surveillance footage certainly wasn't his own. He would have used someone else's software to access the footage, leaving a trace.

After doing all this, Xia Cheng couldn't wait to find Xun Sheng, but when she thought that he was still in Landu, she could only suppress her anxiety.

There was still something in her heart, and because of this thing, her inner unbearableness reached its peak. Whenever she thought of these men, she would feel guilty.

She was an illegitimate daughter, but she thought she was a real daughter. She fought with Xun Mo for so long that she was hospitalized twice.

Xun Mo suffered physical injuries and felt betrayed by the people close to her, but now that the truth has been found out, she feels that there is no need to stay in this mud.

She never wanted to experience Xun Mo's exclusion and competition for favor again.

Xia Cheng told herself to be ruthless and not to make the same mistake again. At the same time, she repented in her heart and hoped that she could still be friends with those men in the future.
