Chapter 19: Xia Cheng is injured
Xun Mo listened to the noises in Xia Cheng's room. Her heart was beating like a drum and her feet were moving repeatedly, but she couldn't move a step.
Just as she put down her crutch, another burst of laughter came from inside the door, which was so worrying.
Xun Mo gritted her teeth and went downstairs with her crutch.
Rushing into her room on the second floor, she took out the knife she used to sharpen pencils when drawing, squatted down, and slowly cut a small hole in the non-slip silicone pad at the bottom of the crutch.
Afraid of being discovered by others, he deliberately tore it with his hands to create uneven edges, as if it had been torn open by himself.
Then, he opened the door a little and saw that the servants were all on the first floor. He felt relieved, held his breath, walked lightly to the third floor, and put the crutches at Xia Cheng's door.
Finally, pretending to be displeased, he pushed open Xia Cheng's door with extreme impatience.
"Aren't you coming down yet? The game has been paused for a long time."
She saw Xia Cheng quickly drive Lin Minghe away, with no intention of competing with her at all.
Xun Mo was waiting for Lin Minghe to come out at the door, looking avoidantly at her toes, and a wave of regret came over her: she couldn't do this.
Lin Minghe came out from behind Xun Mo, and the two of them went downstairs together. Xun Mo walked very slowly, and Lin Minghe could not help but urge her:
"Let's go, finish the game, and then I'll go back."
"You go down first, I'll be right there."
Xun Mo rushed back to the third floor.
Lin Minghe didn't understand what was going on. He stood on the stairs and looked at her for a while, then went back to the first floor.
Xun Mo came to Xia Cheng's door and after making sure that no one saw her, she squatted down again and adjusted the anti-slip mat.
The crack is bigger, so the anti-slip pad will fall off more easily.
Xun Mo stood up and smiled with relief.

Xia Cheng woke up in the smell of disinfectant and felt someone wiping water droplets from her lips. She opened her eyes and the first person she saw was He Qing.
"mom……"
When He Qing saw that she was awake, tears welled up in her red and swollen eyes again. Her cheeks were covered with big tears. She held Xia Cheng's hand and said in a trembling voice, "How could you fall down like that? And it was so serious."
serious?
Xia Cheng immediately thought of the worst outcome - paralysis.
She tried to move her lower limbs, but she couldn't lift her feet no matter what she did. She couldn't even feel them. This caused her great panic. Her lips couldn't close in an instant, and she kept asking:
"My legs, what's wrong with my legs? Why can't I feel anything at all!"
Xia Cheng couldn't calm down. She stared wide-eyed, trying to find the outline of her legs in the quilt, but no matter how hard she looked, she couldn't feel at ease. She simply gritted her teeth, pulled out the needle from the back of her hand, and pulled back the quilt.
Seeing that her legs were still there, she felt a little more relieved, but no matter how hard she tried, her legs could not move at all. Xia Cheng's heart was pounding and she was in a panic.
She held He Qing's hands and kept shouting like a child who had come to a strange world.
"Mom, mom, my legs, my legs! What's wrong with my legs? I can't move them...Mom!"
Xia Cheng was so anxious that she couldn't hear what He Qing said. Was she really paralyzed like her adoptive father?
Xun Sheng pushed open the door and strode in. Xia Cheng looked at him confusedly with her tear-filled eyes, then looked at Xun Mo behind her. Suddenly, all the tears fell on the back of her hand, mixing with the blood drops left after the needle was removed, which was dazzling and fragile.
"Get out! All of you get out!"
She roared, venting all the fear in her heart through her voice. He Qing hugged Xia Cheng's head distressedly and repeatedly comforted her:
"It's okay, it's okay, Chengcheng, your leg is fine. Don't cry, don't cry, mommy is here."
"I can't move, um... Mom, I can't move my legs."
"That's because after you fell, your spinal cord was concussed, and the function of your spinal cord was temporarily suppressed, so you can't control your lower limbs."
Xun Sheng said this, taking out the report and handing it to Xia Cheng. He wasn't annoyed at being scolded, but he just felt strange. Why did Xia Cheng scold him? He had been sleeping in the office recently because of company matters. There shouldn't be any conflicts between them.
Maybe it's fear.
There was more compassion in his eyes and his explanation was more detailed.
"I asked the doctor, and it's the same principle as a concussion. Your spinal cord isn't substantially damaged, so you should be able to recover with rest. It could take a few hours, a few days, or even a few weeks."
Xia Cheng sniffed.
"I'm not paralyzed?"
"No."
"Woo... Wow, I'm scared to death, Mom!" This time, her fear was not feigned, but a genuine fear. She was afraid that she would become paralyzed on one side of her body, so she placed all her emotions on He Qing, leaning in her soft arms, being cared for like a newborn baby.
After Xia Cheng's emotions gradually stabilized, Xun Sheng called the nurse and gave Xia Cheng another infusion.
Xia Cheng looked at the dripping bottle and felt a little embarrassed. Her face was covered with blood after crying.
She licked her lips and asked He Qing:
"Mom, can you make me some soup?"
"Soup? Why do you suddenly want to drink soup? But that's right, soup is very nutritious. Wait, I'll go out and make a phone call and ask the nanny to make some soup."
Xia Cheng was not greedy at all. When she was a child, she had seen children who came back from working outside. Their mothers would specially kill the chickens raised in the pen and stew a bowl of fragrant chicken soup. The pale yellow chicken legs were wrapped in chewy chicken skin and soaked in noodles. It seemed that after eating such a bowl of soup, all the harm suffered outside would disappear.
She had never eaten it, so she longed for it deeply.
He Qing picked up the phone and went out, leaving only the three siblings in the room.
When Xun Sheng heard what Xia Cheng said, he felt something in his heart. Xia Cheng actually believed the lie he told casually that day. The soup was obviously bought from outside. What if Xia Cheng drank the soup at home and found that the taste was not right?
He looked up and saw that Xia Cheng's eyes and nose were red. Her head was leaning against the pillow, drooping weakly, staring blankly out the window. There were large bruises on her arm that was stretched out for an IV drip, and a feeling of irritation rose in her heart.
"I'm going out for a while." He took out the car keys from his pocket without saying where he was going. Xun Mo and Xia Cheng didn't ask either.
So only Xia Cheng and Xun Mo were left in the ward. Xia Cheng narrowed her eyes and looked at Xun Mo who was sitting on the sofa.
Xun Mo didn't say a word just now, and she thought she was scared by her. But now, she saw that she was not scared at all, but was clearly observing her. She looked at her with her bright and tender almond eyes, crossed her legs and supported her chin.
The two looked at each other, and Xun Mo instinctively avoided his gaze.
"I want to drink some water." Xia Cheng said to her.
Xun Mo pointed at the cup on the bedside table and hesitated to go over.
"Isn't it there? It's right next to you..."
"I couldn't even move my lower body, so I couldn't get it with just my hands."
Xun Mo then stood up, inserted a straw into the glass bottle, and handed it to Xia Cheng awkwardly.
"Yes."
Seeing that Xia Cheng was biting the straw and was really just drinking water, Xun Mo secretly breathed a sigh of relief and her tense shoulders drooped.
She felt strange again. Why was she so nervous? No one saw her do it. No, she didn't do anything at all. Xia Cheng fell down by herself.
