Chapter 50: Have a baby?
"Who are you?"
Yu Jingyuan held the bag strap tightly with one hand and grabbed Xia Cheng's arm with the other. He was very angry at the man who suddenly interrupted the conversation.
He originally went to the fruit store next to the pharmacy to buy some things to visit his teacher, but unexpectedly he met two people pushing and pulling at the door of the pharmacy. When he was about to pass by, a plastic box hit his feet.
He picked it up politely and inevitably saw the packaging.
It turned out to be a pregnancy test stick.
They seem to be a couple.
He walked away and glanced at the woman wearing a mask.
She had short hair and deep eyes, and was staring at him intently with her eyes wide open, as if she was stimulated.
Because he was so familiar with her, Yu Jingyuan recognized her at a glance. The person in the light blue cardigan in front of him was Xia Cheng.
So...Xia Cheng is pregnant?
Isn't that child his?

"Who are you?"
Wan Ke took the lead and extended his hand:
"Hello, I'm Wan Ke, Xia Cheng's friend."

"I'm not pregnant."

Wan Ke nodded, walked a few steps to the side, and leaned against the transparent glass with a green "Pharmacy" sign on it. He sighed.
Do you want to secretly take photos now? Would that be inappropriate?
But if he didn't take the picture, he would feel itchy.
When Wan Ke hesitated, Yu Jingyuan moved sideways to block the inquiring gaze, allowing Xia Cheng to be in the middle of the conversation.
"Are you pregnant?" he asked patiently.
"No." Xia Cheng lowered her head and held the bag strap tightly.
"Then why did you buy a pregnancy test?"
"I bought it for him." Xia Cheng sighed in mock distress. "That guy is a philanderer. He got both his ex-girlfriend and current girlfriend pregnant. I didn't know what to do, so I came with him."
The interaction between the two just now seemed to show that they knew each other. Yu Jingyuan nodded and believed what Xia Cheng said, but he still gave her more strict instructions.
"Wait for me here."
Xia Cheng agreed and watched Yu Jingyuan enter the pharmacy. She really couldn't stand it anymore. She was so anxious that she felt like burning through the soles of her shoes.
After a while, Yu Jingyuan came out with a pregnancy test stick in his hand, which had the same shell as the previous one. He handed it to Xia Cheng.
"I don't think we wore it last time. Let's go test it."
Seeing that Xia Cheng didn't move, he began to call softly.
"Xia Cheng?"
Seeing that she was sweating profusely and seemed nervous, her tone softened.
"Don't be afraid, just test it first, okay?"
Xia Cheng's nails were almost embedded in her flesh. She felt dizzy and held the packaging box of the pregnancy test stick. She spoke nervously amid the sound of the packaging bag.
"What if, what if there is one?"
There was silence on the other side for a long time. Xia Cheng looked up at him. Yu Jingyuan lowered his eyes, and a blush gradually appeared on his fair skin.
"I will marry you. In fact, I will marry you with or without children if you want."
Xia Cheng's heart skipped a beat. This was not the answer she wanted to hear, but Yu Jingyuan was right in front of her, so she simply went to the hospital bathroom to pee.
As she was thinking this, she suddenly felt a force pressing on the top of her head which was hot from the sun.
Yu Jingyuan reached out and rubbed her head, as gentle as the older brother next door. His eyes seemed to be shining with gold in the sun, making people feel dazed.
"Xia Cheng, you're actually an independent and thoughtful girl. I admire you very much, so I respect your wishes. If you want to have a baby, you can have one, but it doesn't matter if you don't. I will do my best to take good care of you when you're weak, and always put you first. If you ever want to get married, just tell me so I can be prepared."
These words fell lightly into Xia Cheng's heart.
She had faced too much alone, and the slightest warmth that came made her unable to respond, and she habitually remained silent.

"Yu Jingyuan, you are such a fool."
Xia Cheng blamed him while crying and laughing.
Yu Jingyuan was not sure about this statement and shook his head.
"What happened that night was due to the alcohol, but also to the comfort of talking to you while drunk. Later, it was because you were smart, graceful, and gorgeous, like a rosy glow that suddenly made me unable to look away. Xia Cheng, I'm not a simple person, nor am I a fool. If you had nothing, I probably wouldn't have said what I said today. In short, it's because we are evenly matched and attractive enough to each other."
Yu Jingyuan made his words very clear.
Xia Cheng's tears froze.
She sniffed and sincerely thanked Yu Jingyuan for being honest.
It was precisely because they were harmonious enough before that they had entanglements later.
She squeezed the pregnancy test stick.
"Let's go to the hospital. I'll test it in the bathroom."
Yu Jingyuan smiled and rubbed her head vigorously.
"I'll wait for you outside."
