Chapter 96: Memories with Wan Lu (9)

Chapter 96: Memories with Wan Lu (9)

Not hearing the usual response, Wan Lu looked over and saw her walking away with a stern face. Just as he was about to open his mouth, he was choked by the chili peppers in the oil and coughed twice. When he wanted to go out to check, the person had already entered the house.

Xia Cheng was still distracted and went straight back to the house. When she saw the three portraits placed in the center, her heart ached and her eyes couldn't help but turn red. She silently returned to the house, closed the door, and leaned against the door panel, covering her aching heart.

It was not until this moment that she realized that she was truly helpless, and she also understood that money was not the biggest difficulty, and that having someone who could stand up for her was the greatest happiness.

If grandma were still alive, she might have already taken her cane and cursed people. No one was afraid of being beaten by the old lady. Everyone was afraid of her mouth that would spread rumors and her thin skin.

Now no one would do this to her anymore. Xia Cheng didn't shed tears after all. She bathed, ate, and slept as usual, listening to the male voice on the radio, thinking about how to avoid it, or what to do if she encountered it again.

But she couldn't understand why Yu Xiami wanted to be with her. It was obviously unlikely that she was attracted by her beauty. They had known each other for so long, so why would he wait until now if he was really attracted by her beauty?

"Yu Jinhuan, Yu Xia Mi..." As she recited these two names, she suddenly understood.

The next day, the remaining rice arrived as expected.

Xia Cheng just ran into him when she was pushing her bike out.

She quickly closed the door, locked it, put the key in her pocket, and followed Yu Xiami.

Yu Xiami came by bike. He patted the seat and asked Xia Cheng to get on. Xia Cheng shook his head, bent down, got on his bike, and rushed out like riding a Hot Wheels.

The man followed closely behind him.

"You heard what I said yesterday."

"What did you say? I can't hear you." Xia Cheng pretended that the wind was strong.

But after leaving the village, Yu Xiami, who had been around the bicycle, stopped her with his electric bike: "Don't pretend, we are together anyway, I will pick you up in the evening."

His tone was firm. Xia Cheng thought that if he continued to pester her, it would delay her work, so she simply tried to take him to the village chief's house after get off work to have a good talk, and then ignored him.

But unexpectedly, Yu Xiami came before I got off work in the afternoon and sat at the round table.

This time he did not bring his original female companion.

After get off work, Xia Cheng went straight out the back door. She wanted to find Yu Jinhuan first.

But the bicycle was parked at the front door. When she tiptoed to take the bicycle away, Yu Xia Mi found that both she and the bicycle were gone. It was ten minutes later.

At that time, Xia Cheng was almost three-fifths of the way home. Yu Mi immediately got on his electric scooter and chased after the man, finally catching him.

Xia Cheng was riding hard when he turned around and saw Yu Mi approaching him. He panicked for a moment and lost control of the direction, and fell into the ditch.

The bicycle flipped over, and the chain made a crackling sound as it turned. Her arms and knees were scraped and she sat in the haystack. Yu Mi grabbed the clothes by the back of her neck and dragged her to the field.

"Fuck, didn't I say I'd pick you up after get off work? Why are you running?"

Xia Cheng didn't say anything and was about to leave. This made Yu Xiami angry. He had specially opened the billiard hall to pick up this girl. Whether she was willing or not, she should know that he was much better than Yu Jinhuan.

"I don't like you." Xia Cheng turned her face away and said softly.

Yu Xiami smiled: "So you like Yu Jinhuan?"

Xia Cheng nodded heavily twice.

"What do you like about him?" Yu Xia Mi asked.

"Brother Huan is gentle, careful, has good academic performance, is sensible and filial. He is different from others and is good to me." This is Xia Cheng's true words. Although she doesn't like Yu Jinhuan, she cannot deny his shining points.

"Anyway, I won't force anyone like you do..."

After saying this, she glanced at Yu Xiami's expression, and sure enough, the other party let her go. It seemed that her guess last night was right. He just wanted to compete with Yu Jinhuan, and the scope of the competition accidentally dragged her into it. So Yu Xiami, who had been defeated repeatedly, wanted to get rid of his anger by getting her.

Xia Cheng carefully praised Yu Jinhuan, and tried her best to persuade Yu Xiami, saying that he had a good personality, was optimistic, and would have a bright future. As long as he abided by the law, he would definitely find his own way to make a fortune.

Yu Xiami didn't know whether she had heard it or not, but Xia Cheng had said enough. She took a tentative step forward, and when she saw that Yu Xiami didn't stop her, she walked towards the road.

"I know why Yu Jinhuan likes you." Yu Xia Mi suddenly said.

"Why?" she asked.

"Because you're all just as hypocritical."

When Xia Cheng heard this, she was about to run, but he grabbed her and pulled her back. The wound on her arm was burning, and he held her tightly, so Xia Cheng struggled to break free.

"What are you doing? What are you doing?"

"I am indeed jealous of Yu Jinhuan. Why is it that everyone likes him when we grew up together? Do you think I can't see that? You look down on me too, and you're just trying to coax me with these words!"

At this point, Xia Cheng lost her patience and yelled, "Help! Help!"

"Shut up!"

Seeing that she was still shouting, Yu Xiami was thinking of coming over to kiss her, which made Xia Cheng feel sick. She slapped her, but was slapped back by Yu Xiami. The blow made her fall to the ground, unable to get up, and her head was buzzing.

She still overestimated the bottom line of the remaining rice.

There seemed to be a fire burning in Xia Cheng's heart, and she silently clenched the stone in her hand.

"You dare to hit me? Is it because I've been too nice to you that you think you can touch my face?"

Yu Xiami squatted down and grabbed her hair. Because it was dark, he couldn't see the stone in her hand.

"I'll give you two choices. Either stay with me, or I'll kill you right here."

Xia Cheng's body was trembling.

Not because of leftover rice.

And because of the person behind him.

Like a demon, he quietly arrived, his tall figure looking down at Yu Mi and judging her crimes. He held a wooden stick in his hand, raised it to his shoulder, and then swung it downwards, hitting Yu Mi's head hard.

Yu Mi fell to the ground in the field without even being able to utter a groan.

The devil came closer, and Xia Cheng saw his dark face. He suddenly let go of the stone in his hand and pounced on him with his mouth open.

“Ugh…ah…”

Xia Cheng cried in his arms, tears streaming down her face. The man didn't say anything, but just patted her back silently. When only a faint sob remained in the air, Xia Cheng raised her head a little embarrassedly.

"He's not going to die, is he?"

"No." Wan Lu gave Yu Mi a cold kick. "I know my limits."

"Why are you here?" Xia Cheng wiped away her tears and felt much better now.

"You didn't come back so late, so my sister asked me to go out and look for you. I happened to see your car in the ditch, so I came over here."

Wan Lu turned his face to the side and tried to speak in a gentle and soothing tone.

"Go home."
