Chapter 91: Memories with Wan Lu (Part 4)
The woman's care in the bedroom was entirely up to Xia Cheng. She was a little embarrassed, but the woman just smiled and said, "It's okay, I'll wipe it myself."
There were not many adult diapers left, the woman had no milk, and the baby was crying all day long because of hunger. Xia Cheng made up his mind, took out a few bills, and rode his bicycle to the town with a bamboo basket on his back, huffing and puffing, and brought back a lot of things.
Xia Cheng put the meat into the old, oxidized and yellowed refrigerator, then plugged it in. The lights in the room flickered, and Xia Cheng turned around to see Wan Lu looking at her.
She touched her nose, took out the flowered clothes from the bamboo basket and threw them into his arms.
"Go wash your wife. I don't have any extra clothes for her."
"Wife?" Wan Lu's expression changed, but he didn't say anything. He took a piece of soap from the windowsill and squatted under the sink.
Xia Cheng ignored his subtle change in expression and made some milk powder for the baby.
"Does it have a name?" she asked the woman.
"My name is Huang Yiqiu."
"No, no, no." Xia Cheng shook her head. "I'm talking about this child."
The woman thought for a long time before opening her mouth.
"His father's generation name is Tao, so if it's a child, his nickname should be Guoguo."
"Oh, Guoguo, well, it sounds like being round and chubby in the future is good."
It was the first time Huang Yi Qiu heard someone praise him like that. He burst out laughing and leaned against the broken mahogany headboard. His loose clothes slipped off his shoulders, revealing half of his round chest.
She pulled it casually, and her straight black hair was rolled into her clothes, making her look like a big star that Xia Cheng could only see on other people's TVs.
Xia Cheng looked away embarrassedly.
Huang Yiqiu took the initiative to hold her hand: "Thank you for saving me."
"If you really want to thank me, don't leave while you're here, give me more money when you leave, and don't come back to see me after you leave."
Xia Cheng said these words directly, and Huang Yiqiu nodded easily.
"You dared to take us in just for these reasons? You even dared to deliver my baby. You're really brave."
"No..." Xia Cheng shook her head. "I'm not a big shot, but if I don't do some things, I'll get into even bigger trouble." She tilted her head, blushing slightly.
"Besides, if I hadn't saved you then, you would have died..."
"That's why I want to thank you." Huang Yi Qiu leaned his forehead on her shoulder, and when he saw the indelible stains on Xia Cheng's clothes, his expression softened.
"Thank you, I will remember it forever."

That night, Xia Cheng decided to discuss with Wan Lu the usage rights of the household items.
They sat opposite each other at a low table. Xia Cheng was a little distracted for a moment as she watched the man across from her lazily wiping the oxidized dirt off the table with a tissue.
He was only wearing a simple black suit, but it couldn't hide the muscle lines that were visible under the fabric, and his face was pleasing to the eye.
She shook her head, pondered for a long time, wrote down a few clauses in her old notebook, and handed it to Wan Lu.
"What's your name? Write it on the back."
Wan Lu stroked his chin and stared at the draft paper with mathematical formulas on the back. His eyes swept over the award certificates covering the wall and he suddenly asked a question.
"How old are you this year?"
"None of your business."
"Where are my family members?"
Xia Cheng didn't dare to say that everyone in her family was dead. She just said, "I'm working outside. Why are you asking so many questions? Sign quickly."
"Don't be impatient, let me take a look first." Wan Lu smiled and moved his eyes from Xia Cheng back to the paper. He was surprised by the round and irregular but neat handwriting.
"It's amazing that he can write like this..." he muttered.
"What did you say?"
"nothing."
Wan Lu had no intention of changing the treaty on paper, so he read it out for confirmation.
"The first rule is that this is Xia Cheng's home. Anyone staying here cannot use Xia Cheng's things at will and must inform us in advance. The second rule is that anyone staying here cannot enter Xia Cheng's room. The third rule is that the man is not allowed to leave the room while Xia Cheng is showering. The fourth rule is that the money the man gave me will be temporarily counted as rent and living expenses. He must pay back all the money he promised to pay when he leaves. The fifth rule..."
After reading it all, Wan Lu curled his lips and wrote his name at the end.
"Don't worry, I will comply. However, I may still have to trouble you to do something."
"What?"
"Buy me some clothes, just black."
Xia Cheng looked up and saw that he was still wearing the same black shirt from last night, but it seemed to have been washed and no longer had a strong smell of sweat. He probably put it on again after it dried in the morning. Thinking that they would have to stay here for a month, she nodded in agreement.
"The money will be deducted from the living expenses."
"no problem."
He stood up, his broad body blocking out the flickering light, casting a shadow that enveloped the small summer orange.
He took two steps forward, his powerful legs wrapped in a suit stepping on a pair of ill-fitting pink slippers. Xia Cheng recognized that they were the ones she wore when taking a bath. They were a little big for her, but for him, they were as small as they could be.
It looked a little funny, and she couldn't help laughing. She covered her mouth and laughed. When he turned around, she immediately pulled down the corners of her mouth.
"I forgot to mention, I also have a pair of size 43 shoes, socks, and underwear."
"Got it. I'll write it down. Shoes are size 43, socks, underwear...underwear?!" She looked up suddenly and saw Wan Lu had already walked into the yard to boil water.
After hesitating for a moment, she carried the notebook into the room where Huang Yiqiu was currently living, and said in a somewhat awkward manner that she had bought him underwear.
Huang Yiqiu laughed out loud after hearing this.
"Ahem...it's okay, just buy it, it doesn't matter."
None of them cared, the only one who cared was Xia Cheng. She went out again with the notebook in her arms, and in her room, she looked at the signature on the notebook with a flushed face.
There are only two words, Wanlu, written very beautifully, vigorously and with iron-like strokes and silver-like hooks at the end.
"Wanlu." She read it, then hid the notebook and the admission letter together, took a shower, locked the door, recorded today's expenses, and hurried to bed.
Early the next morning, she rode her bike to town, sweating all over, and threw the things she bought into the man's arms.
"So fast?" Wan Lu raised his eyebrows.
Xia Cheng didn't say anything. She got up so early to avoid people she knew, but the opposite happened. There were too many old men and women getting up early to go to the market. She covered the things Wan Lu wanted with a layer of noodles and hurried home, for fear that others would find out that she bought things for men.
You know, she just went to the village chief's house a few days ago and the news that she was going to marry the village chief's son spread.
Wan Lu looked at the rough shirt, pants, and underwear in his hands, and was a little confused when he saw the slippers.
Xia Cheng waved her hand: "You're not going out anyway."
"Then why is it pink?"
The answer to his question was the loud slam of a door.
He sighed, put the things back into the bag, helped his sister to the dry toilet in the yard, leaned outside and waited, looked down and saw the slippers on his feet, immediately understood, and smiled.
"She... heh..."
