Chapter 415: Terrified

The next day, just after daybreak, the convoy packed up and set off. Although they had acquaintances to lead the way and the convoy had prepared all the necessary food and supplies, after all, on the vast grassland, no one could guarantee that everything would go smoothly.

The sooner we reach the royal court, the sooner we can have peace.

Along the way, they traveled day and night for three days, and finally arrived at the royal court at noon that day.

Chen Zhao did not contact the third prince immediately, but followed the cavalry through the city gate and went directly to the temple dedicated to the living Buddha.

Some devout herdsmen knelt in front of the temple, kowtowing and praying.

Tai Yonglu, Tai Yongyue, and Chen Ruiyang all saw this for the first time, and their smiles subsided unconsciously. They didn't understand faith, but they had to respect it.

The leader of the cavalry took Chen Zhao to find a young lama and handed the Buddhist beads to him. Soon a big lama came out and led Chen Zhao's convoy into the temple through the side door.

The leader of the Iron Cavalry no longer had any doubts and left with his men.

Chen Zhao breathed a long sigh of relief and leaned against the shaft of the cart to relax for a long time.

Tai Jiye had been holding it in for the entire journey, so he quickly asked, "Brother Chen, is there something wrong with these people?"

Chen Zhao waved his hand and whispered, "I couldn't tell where they came from before, but I only found out last night while we were drinking together. They are the eldest prince's cavalry! The eldest prince and the third prince don't have the same mother, so their relationship must be very tense at a time like this. Luckily, I took out the Living Buddha's token. If it had belonged to the third prince, we wouldn't have had such a smooth journey."

Tai Jiye was also very scared. He was in someone else's territory and the language was not very fluent. It was really risky.

He said nothing, but hurried to find his tribe members and once again emphasized that everyone should keep quiet and save their lives. They must be careful with their words and actions!

The temple was large, and the courtyard the head lama had arranged for them was spacious. Chen Zhao instructed everyone to unload their cargo and rest, while he quickly washed and changed his clothes before going to pay his respects to the Living Buddha.

To be honest, what he said to the Iron Cavalry about delivering Buddhist scriptures to the Living Buddha was not completely a lie.

He was injured while saving the third prince. While recuperating in the royal court, he followed the third prince to pay a visit to the Living Buddha and talked about the Central Plains Buddhist culture. The Living Buddha was very interested.

But the Living Buddha could not go to the Central Plains, so he said that he wanted to see the Buddhist scriptures and other things in the Central Plains. Then he gave Chen Zhao a string of Buddhist beads with the name of the Living Buddha engraved on it, which no one on the grassland would dare to imitate.

This is also the reason why the Iron Cavalry leader let down his guard after just one look.

Chen Zhao returned to the border and made a trip to the south of the Yangtze River to investigate his family feud. He actually collected a lot of Buddhist scriptures and brought them all with him this time.

The head monk was very polite and slowly led the way, taking Chen Zhao to the back hall where the Living Buddha lived. Even in the daytime, tallow candles as thick as a child's arm filled the entire room, illuminating the surrounding area with splendor.

After kneeling devoutly, Chen Zhao looked towards the Living Buddha and said, "Living Buddha, I, a commoner from the Great Wei, have fulfilled my mission and brought ten boxes of Great Wei Buddhist scriptures to pay homage to you."

The Living Buddha is probably over sixty years old. His face has more wrinkles, but he does not look old. His eyes are full of compassion and peace.

He chanted a Buddhist name, asked Chen Zhao to stand up and sit next to him, and immediately a little lama came forward to pour milk tea.

Chen Zhao respectfully drank a sip of milk tea and bowed again.

The Living Buddha smiled and said, "Thank you, Benefactor Chen, for traveling all the way to the grasslands to bring the Buddhist scriptures from the Great Wei."

Chen Zhao was polite, "Living Buddha, you are too kind. It's just a small favor."

He thought for a moment, then spoke directly, "Living Buddha, you know that the Third Prince and I are close friends. When we first arrived on the grassland, I heard some news that the Khan was not feeling well and there was some friction among the princes. I wonder how the Third Prince is doing? Is he in danger?"

The Living Buddha smiled, and the light in his eyes seemed to see through everything in the world.

"Don't worry, Benefactor Chen. You came here to understand the danger facing the Third Prince. He will naturally turn the danger into safety."

Chen Zhao's heart moved, and he became even more respectful. Perhaps because he was not as good as Dongsheng at the border, the Living Buddha had already understood it.

Everything in the world has its own trajectory. Mortals are confused by it, but Buddha sees it all clearly.

The Living Buddha studied him carefully, a rare hint of curiosity and interest in his eyes. He asked again, "I wonder if Mr. Chen had any adventures since returning to the Wei Dynasty? Compared to before, you seem to have more of the light of merit. No, it should be said that you have been stained with the aura of merit. There must be someone around you who has been blessed or protected by merit!"

Chen Zhao was stunned by what he heard, and smiled bitterly inwardly. His sister had been murdered innocently, and his nephew was out on the run. It could be said that his family was shattered, so how could he possibly be blessed by good fortune?

wrong!

A light bulb went off in his head, and he suddenly thought of the Tai family, and the chubby little girl from the Tai family!

"Living Buddha, please bear witness. I did meet a family and received their protection and care. But they are just ordinary farmers..."

The Living Buddha smiled more compassionately, clasped his hands together, and chanted a Buddhist scripture. Chen Zhao didn't understand, but something in his heart seemed to be rising, and he gained a little more enlightenment.

He thought about it and asked the little lama to invite Tai Jiye and the three boys.

As soon as the four people stepped over the threshold, the Living Buddha's eyes became brighter, and all the candles were flickering faintly.

Tai Jiye and the others were startled and quickly knelt down to pay their respects. The three boys followed their uncle and made random gestures, which made the Living Buddha laugh again.

"Please stand up, benefactor. It is my honor to meet you all today."

Tai Jiye kept saying that he didn't dare, and when he stood up, he pulled the three boys with him.

The three boys' eyes were full of curiosity. They tried hard to resist looking around and only dared to secretly look at the Living Buddha.

The Living Buddha motioned them to come forward, touched their heads, and chanted a mantra for each of them.
