Chapter 5 A false alarm!

Chapter 5 A false alarm!

It was Tai Yongning who dragged his limp leg and lowered his head.

Yang Lihua couldn't bear to see her son like this, so she quickly stuffed the well-fed little girl into his arms.

Holding the sweet and soft little girl in his arms, Tai Yongning immediately forgot his frustration.

After dinner, Tai Jizu set off with his three boys.

Tai Yonglu and Tai Yongyue came up to their sister and patted their chests to make a promise.

"Sister, wait, I'll catch a pheasant for you!"

"And rabbits! Fourth Brother will catch you a nest too!"

Yang Lihua was clearing the table when she heard this. She patted the two boys on the back and said, "Even if you can't catch pheasants and rabbits, you are still Zhuzhu's brother!

"You were indeed wrong about what happened yesterday, but Zhuzhu is now sober and you caught some fish, so you've made up for it."

Tai Yonglu and Tai Yongyue felt guilty, shrank their necks, and had red eyes.

They thought their family members didn't know.

I was tortured by guilt all day and all night, and I was worried that my sister would suddenly become stupid again. It was worse than death...

It turned out that the two brothers were responsible for taking care of their younger sister yesterday, and they took her out to play because they were bored.

As a result, he got into an argument with the village boys over a trivial matter.

After the fight, I turned around and found that my sister had been pushed down by Gou Shenger...

If they hadn't been so playful, my sister wouldn't have hurt her head!

Grandpa Tai picked up his pipe, tapped his grandson on the head, and began to set the tone for what had happened earlier. "I know I've let Zhuzhu down. Be nicer to her from now on. If you do it again, I'll break your legs."

"No, Grandpa, we won't dare to do that again."

"Yes, we definitely won't dare!"

Tai Yonglu and Tai Yongyue nodded their heads quickly and made assurances like chicks pecking at rice.

This made Zhuzhu clap her chubby hands and giggle, and the whole family started laughing too...

Although the New Year has passed, spring is still a long way off in the north.

The snow in and around the village was so thick that there was no sign of melting at all.

Tai Jizu was walking in front, stepping into the snow pits, leaving footprints one by one. The broken snow soon filled his shoes, but he still walked forward firmly.

Tai Yongan and the other three boys followed closely behind, following in the footsteps, which saved a lot of effort.

The north wind was blowing in our faces and no one dared to speak.

Otherwise, if you fill your stomach with cold air, it's no joke. Unless you lie on the kang for half a day, you will easily get a stomachache or catch a cold.

Whistling white air gushed out of the four men's mouths and quickly fell on their eyelashes and eyebrows, condensing into a layer of white frost. The white frost melted slightly and then froze into ice chips again.

The sufferings of the north are beyond the imagination of the people in the south.

It’s no wonder that the people of the north are so tough. If they were just a little bit weak, they wouldn’t be able to survive the battle against the sky, the earth, and the wind and snow!

As soon as he reached the foot of the back mountain, Tai Jizu saw an old man chopping wood.

Perhaps hearing the noise, the old man turned his head and smiled, revealing a mouthful of yellow teeth.

Tai Jizu quickly greeted him, "Uncle Dumb, are you out of firewood at home?"

The old man nodded and gestured with his hands for a long time, looking enthusiastic.

Tai Jizu guessed what he meant and said with a smile, "Thank you for your concern, Uncle Dumb. My Zhuzhu is much better now.

"I'll bring the boys over here to see if we can hunt some rabbits and pheasants to nourish Zhuzhu."

The mute nodded, pointed to the north side of the mountain, and gestured again.

Then he walked away carrying the firewood on his back. His tattered raincoat was blown open by the wind, revealing his red, frozen arms.

Tai Jizu asked the boys to follow him north, "Uncle Dumb said there are the most bird nests in the north, let's go and see if we can get any eggs."

Tai Yongan and others cheered and scrambled to run forward.

Tai Yonglu still hasn't forgotten to shout, "Sanpang said he smelled meat on Uncle Dumb. Uncle Dumb must have been out stealing prey a lot, so he knows where the good stuff is!

"Hurry up and go! I need to get some bird eggs and cook them for my sister!"

Tai Jizu followed behind, smiled and didn't take it seriously.

Uncle Dumb’s surname is not Tai. He is just a person from another family who fled from the south many years ago.

But he couldn't speak, and he was always willing to help anyone who needed work, and he had a good temper, so the villagers allowed him to stay, and he has lived in the village until now.

It’s just that Uncle Mute is old and occasionally goes to the city to beg.

It takes two or three days to walk dozens of miles back and forth. How can I have the energy and skills to hunt?!

Every family in the village was having a hard time. The children were starving, and everyone they saw looked like meat, eager to take a bite...

The four of us finally stepped on the snow pits and crawled to the north of the mountain. Sure enough, the forest here was very dense, and there were many bird nests in the treetops.

However, birds build nests and lay eggs to hatch their chicks in spring, and take them south in autumn. They may not leave a few eggs for the north wind to freeze.

But Tai Jizu looked around and saw that the snow under the woods was smooth and there was not even a footprint of a small animal. There was no hope of setting a trap for hunting.

They had to try to get the bird eggs no matter what, otherwise their trip would be in vain.

Tai Yonglu and Tai Yongyue didn't think about it at all. They each hugged a tree and started climbing.

Unfortunately, they all got nothing.

Tai Yongan also picked a tree and climbed up, and in the end he did the same as his younger brothers.

Tai Jizu searched for a while and finally found the thickest tree on the edge of the cliff. There were three bird nests on the tree.

He simply took off his heavy coat, let his son hold him, and then climbed up with a cloth bag in his mouth.

Maybe God finally opened his eyes, and there were bird eggs in all three bird nests, totaling more than twenty!
