Chapter 30: Trading Vehicles, Black-Hearted Merchants
"You encountered it too?!" Daisy looked at Nanxing in surprise. She grabbed her shoulders and looked her up and down, then asked worriedly, "They didn't do anything to you, did they?!"
She was quite familiar with Lin Li's personality. All the classmates knew that she was introverted, quiet, submissive, and extremely weak.
Even though she was forced to drop out of school and go home by her uncle and aunt, she didn't dare to resist except crying.
Daisy was very disappointed with her, but after all, it was a family matter, and Lin Li had accepted it herself, so she couldn't do much.
"No, there are a lot of them." Nan Xing said in a low voice, tugging at the corner of his clothes nervously.
"Where are they?" Daisy's voice suddenly became much louder, which attracted the attention of others.
"They are all dead." Nanxing's voice was barely audible.
"Daisy, what's wrong?" someone asked.
"Nothing." Daisy shook her head and pulled Nanxing into the factory, asking as they walked, "Dead? How did he die?"
"Someone put drugs in the food. After they ate it, they had stomachaches and started fighting." Nanxing pursed her lips and said in a low voice.
"I ran away at daybreak."
"Didn't you eat?" Daisy noticed this keenly and asked.
"I just had a little bread and water, nothing happened."
Daisy nodded. That was right. With Lin Li's personality, she didn't pose any threat.
"Where are their bodies?"
"There was a car in good condition at the nursing home. I had another one, but I took it home and then I drove it to the quarry and it ran out of gas."
Nanxing leaned closely against Daisy and honestly told her everything he knew.
"Did you take that tricycle from the quarry?"
"Yeah." Nan Xing nodded, pulled Daisy's clothes again, and then asked in a low voice, "Daisy, can you return the car to me when I get home later?"
"Where are your uncle and aunt?"
"They're all dead."
"Turn into a zombie?"
"No wonder." Daisy looked at Nanxing sympathetically, but their death couldn't be considered a complete bad thing.
At least no one bullies her anymore, but it would be difficult for such a weak girl like her to survive on her own.
"Lily, do you want to join us, right here?" Daisy asked.
"I want to wait for my brother at home. He said he would come back to pick me up." Nanxing lowered his head and spoke in a low voice.
"You can wait for your brother here. Just leave a letter at home."
Nanxing shook her head stubbornly, refusing to agree to Daisy.
Seeing this, Daisy stopped trying to persuade them. Their relationship wasn't that good, and Lily was most likely a drag.
"Daisy." A strong middle-aged man with a shaved head walked over.
"Dad!" Daisy waved happily and proudly introduced him to Nanxing, "Lily, that's my dad. You've met him. He's the leader of our team."
"Yeah." Nanxing huddled behind Daisy and looked cautiously at the middle-aged man in front of him, "Hello, Uncle Bert."
"Hello." Burt nodded casually, looking at his daughter half scolding, half doting, "Daisy, have you been running out to play again?"
"No, I don't. Look, this is Lily, the niece of Lin Wen, the owner of Split Rock Farm."
Bert smiled at her kindly and asked no further questions.
At this time, a little girl came out by herself, and he knew very well what was going on.
What a pity, he wanted to exchange some food with Lin Wen.
"Dad, Lily is out looking for food. Do we have any extra food to exchange for her?"
"What did she exchange for it?"
"Lily provided the whereabouts of two cars, intact."
"It's very strong, but there's no oil left." Nanxing added in a low voice.
"Really?" Burt was a little surprised. He didn't know why, but before the end of the world, more than 90% of the vehicles in the town were destroyed.
Now the repair shops are so crowded that it is difficult to find a car in good condition.
"Of course it's true. Lily would never lie, right Lily?" Daisy raised her head with a smug look on her face.
She helped the team find two cars, and it was because of her that Lily told the story about the cars.
"Two cars, if what you said is true, I will give you..." Bert glanced at the delicate and thin Nanxing. Poor child, she was about the same age as Daisy, but her thighs were not as thick as Daisy's arms.
"I'll give you a box of canned meat."
There are 24 cans in a box.
"Is this, is this too much? I..." Nanxing twisted her fingers nervously, looking at Daisy and Bert with wet eyes, her eyes full of confusion.
"It's okay, you don't know what our car looks like. Come on, I'll take you to see it." Daisy pulled Nanxing away. Nanxing looked back at Bert, who was talking to several other men.
The factory is very large, surrounded by a tall and thick concrete wall, with dormitories, machines, a canteen and other facilities.
There is still enough open space to develop land.
The situation here is really incomparable to the sanatorium, quarry, and farm. There are definitely a lot of zombies inside.
I guess they spent a lot of effort to clean it up.
Nanxing's gaze drifted across the busy people, including men, women, young and old, but without exception, all of them were healthy and strong, and none of them would fall behind.
No wonder the father and daughter look down on her.
"Look, that's our car." Daisy pointed to the two shabby school buses in front, which had many scratches on them and some broken windows.
"Oh my God."
"Yeah! I don't know how we escaped from this small town alive." Daisy muttered softly, "It's a good thing you've always lived in the suburbs."
“Are there a lot of zombies in this town?”
"There were so many people there, no one knew where they came from, and everyone fled the town."
"Where are the others?" Nanxing asked curiously.
"Some went to Old John's shelter, and some went to the Rael Brothers' place."
"Also, there are a lot of people gathered at Moonlight Prison. You must not go there, it's very dangerous, you know?" Daisy warned.
"Yeah." Nanxing nodded quickly, which means that they can go to Old John's Shelter and the territory of the Leir brothers.
"And Brother Leir, by the Moon God, these two bandits."
"What's wrong?"
"Do you know how much they cost to repair a car?"
"They actually want ten boxes of canned meat!" Daisy complained to herself.
Nanxing's eyes flashed. Ten boxes of canned food, so black.
She was referring to brothers Bert and Rayle.
However, it seems that the Rail Brothers can be traded, but the fees are a bit expensive.
By the way, the name of the Leir brother seemed to be mentioned in Lina's diary. Did she say that she beat her brother up?
