"What are you doing?" Ye Yanran frowned and watched Mu Hanfeng's next move. It was not what she expected, right?
"Just as you thought, I'm signing a contract with this rabbit." Mu Hanfeng seemed to have guessed what Ye Yanran was thinking. He answered verbally, but his hands did not stop moving.
Scar Rabbit's eyes widened. Was he mistaken? How could someone be so careless as to sign a contract just for picking up a random rabbit? Although I'm not just any rabbit, how could someone be so careless?
"You, you... do you know what kind of beast this is?" Ye Yanran nearly jumped up. Signing a contract to acquire a pet was such a serious matter, and yet Mu Hanfeng was so casual? And this contract paperwork wasn't cheap, was it? This contract Mu Hanfeng was using must have been crafted by some master alchemist, and it must have cost a fortune. And yet he just casually gave it to a rabbit? And a rogue scar rabbit?
"I don't know." Mu Hanfeng answered confidently.
"Then you still..." Ye Yanran was shocked.
"I signed it precisely because I didn't know." Mu Hanfeng said this with more confidence.
Huh? That makes so much sense, I'm speechless?
Ye Yanran looked up, blinked, and recalled Mu Hanfeng's words. Just because she didn't know, hadn't heard of him, this rogue Scar Rabbit was likely to be extraordinary?
While Ye Yanran was thinking, Mu Hanfeng had already completed the contract.
"Okay." Mu Hanfeng threw the rabbit in his hand rudely to the ground.
"Does this rabbit have any skills?" Ye Yanran looked at the scarred rabbit on the ground in confusion.
"How dare you look down on me? Believe it or not, I will..." The rogue Scar Rabbit jumped up unconvinced when he saw that he was being looked down upon, but as soon as he jumped up, he was slapped by Mu Hanfeng and lowered his head.
"Return my master? Whose master do you want to be?" Mu Hanfeng asked coldly.
"Take it as my own." Scar Rabbit said timidly.
Ye Yanran, however, had a look of horror on her face.
"Mu Hanfeng, he, he, he's talking!" Ye Yanran screamed in horror. How could an ordinary exotic beast possibly speak?
"That's right." Mu Hanfeng disagreed, "I told you before, this is not an ordinary beast."
"That's right, this...this little master is not an ordinary beast. Don't confuse this little master with those low-level beasts." Scar Rabbit said proudly. He originally wanted to say this master, but when he saw Mu Hanfeng's eyes turned cold, he quickly changed his words. It seemed that there was no difference between replacing this master with this little master.
"Do you want to add another scar on your face?" Mu Hanfeng asked coldly.
"Oh, no, no, no, I made this scar myself. Master, don't you think it's manly? Two scars are enough, but that's a sign of weakness and corruption." Scar Rabbit shook his head in a flattering manner, and then expressed the consequence of two scars with disgust.
Ye Yanran's mouth twitched, and she didn't want to talk anymore.
Mu Hanfeng suddenly regretted the contract he had just signed. No matter how powerful this rabbit was, was it really okay for it to be so stupid?
"I'm very powerful. Master, you don't have to regret signing the contract with me." Scar Rabbit obviously felt Mu Hanfeng's emotions at the moment and said, patting his chest.
"Since you're so powerful, why did you just let Mu Hanfeng sign the contract without even struggling?" Ye Yanran asked disdainfully. She didn't believe this Scar Rabbit was so powerful. Even though he chased her around in circles just now, that was because she hadn't used her true strength, okay?
"My master thinks so highly of me that he just picked it up and signed it. I can't let my master down. I will definitely make him proud." Scar Rabbit puffed out his chest.
"Okay, then you'll be the one clearing the way for me from now on." Mu Hanfeng said with a serious face, "Now, go pick some edible wild fruits for me."
"What?" Scar Rabbit's eyes widened. Shouldn't we face powerful enemies together? Picking fruit?
"If it's not sweet, I don't want it." Mu Hanfeng added.
Scar Rabbit's eyes widened again.
"Are you going or not?" Mu Hanfeng's voice suddenly turned cold.
"Go, go, go!" Scar Rabbit jumped and ran forward.
Mu Hanfeng calmly sat down to rest, without any embarrassment of ordering a rabbit to find fruit.
Ye Yanran also sat down with peace of mind. She was still resentful of Scar Rabbit for trying to take advantage of her.
Then, the two of them and the rabbit began their joyful adventure. (Not joyful, Scar Rabbit said.)
…
As for Mu Hanyan, she had no idea her brother and Ye Yanran had met. After shopping, she returned home and lazily prepared to eat and take a nap. As for the order from the Supreme Elder, Mu Hanyan hadn't thought about going back so soon. In the yard, she saw the three lackeys practicing hard. Mu Hanyan noticed especially their appearance. The difference between him now and before was too great. He used to be always smiling and doing all kinds of funny things, but now he was much more depressed, with a determined look on his face as he practiced hard.
Mu Hanyan sighed inwardly, knowing that he was worried about his fiancée. Mu Hanyan thought for a moment, then turned and headed to Mu Beichen's yard. She hadn't heard anything about Zirong's fiancée in the past few days.
When they saw Mu Beichen, before Mu Hanyan could say anything, Mu Beichen spoke first: "I know you are here because of your guard's fiancée."
"Yes, grandpa, is there any news about Zirong's fiancée now?" Mu Hanyan asked worriedly.
"We're stepping up our investigation. Don't worry, we'll have news soon." Mu Beichen comforted.
Mu Hanyan nodded. Since Grandfather said there would be news soon, it meant there would be news soon. Hopefully, it wouldn't be bad news.
Mu Beichen seemed to see Mu Hanyan's worry and said, "Don't worry too much. According to the information we received, his fiancée should be safe now."
"That's good." Mu Hanyan nodded. "Then, grandpa, I'll go back first." Mu Hanyan said and was about to leave.
"Wait." Mu Beichen called out to Mu Hanyan, "It's already noon, don't you want to have a meal with grandpa?"
Mu Hanyan smiled and agreed: "Okay."
Mu Beichen ordered the meal to be served, and soon the servants had laid out a table full of food. Mu Beichen and Mu Hanyan sat opposite each other and began to eat. While they were eating, Mu Beichen spoke.
"Hanyan, can you please tell grandfather who Ye Lanxun is?" Mu Beichen asked solemnly.
Mu Hanyan was slightly startled, then smiled: "Grandfather, it's not that I don't want to tell you, but I still don't know who he is."
"What? You don't know either?" Mu Beichen really didn't expect that Mu Hanyan didn't know either. He asked in surprise, "You don't know, and you're still with him..."
