Chapter 30 Spiritual Practice with Me

When the ghostly thing climbed onto Wen Heng's head, a terrifying black crack appeared on the back of his head, which had been injured a few days ago. This terrifying demonic energy greedily poured into his body from that crack.

"It's that damn thing again!" It actually used puppetry to lure Wen Heng here, taking advantage of his previous injury.

I looked at Wen Heng, who was still several feet away from me and was being haunted by evil spirits. I hated myself for not being able to use magic, and could only grit my teeth and speed up my climb.

Even though I was fast, I couldn't keep up with the speed at which the demonic energy completely flooded into Wen Heng's body in the blink of an eye. I watched helplessly as Wen Heng was surrounded by a misty demonic energy, twisting his neck strangely from side to side. Then, a fierce crimson glint flashed in his eyes, his lips curled up, and his face became ferocious.

Wen Heng then clasped his hands together, his lips slightly parted as if chanting a spell, and a demonic energy array surged around him as he unleashed a powerful demonic energy formation.

In no time, a wisp of golden, cloud-like shadow was drawn from afar by the demonic energy array. In an instant, the golden light transformed into a white-robed young man with a face exactly like Wen Heng, standing on the array in front of Wen Heng, who was radiating demonic energy.

A Wen Heng shrouded in demonic energy and another radiating golden light stood facing each other at the summit. What was going on? Was that thing setting up an array to summon back Wen Heng's soul? I was somewhat dazed, and I used almost all my strength to continue running towards the two of them.

"Wen Heng, how have you been?" A haughty woman's voice rang out from the demonic Wen Heng's ferocious face.

Isn't this thing a man? How come it's started having a woman's voice? I wondered, but the aura of this spirit was clearly the same as the previous ghost.

"It really is you." Wen Heng, who was shining with golden light, was slightly surprised, but quickly regained his usual calm demeanor.

"You never expected that the Demon King's son who once loved you so deeply would now appear as a woman's spirit to take your life, did you?" Demon Wen Heng's tone was full of arrogance and disdain.

"You exhausted your own energy to summon back my soul and consciousness, was it to destroy me? Or to prove to me that you are now a female ghost without a body? You are still so stubborn!" Jin Guangwen Heng, however, was unmoved and directly exposed the thoughts of the demonic Wen Heng in front of him.

This thing and the God Wenheng are old flames? And his old flame is actually a demon man in disguise? I just managed to climb to the top of the mountain and I got such a big surprise.

I said that before, this thing had a deep male voice, but now it has turned into a female voice, which makes sense!

The two of them stood in the magic circle, and a repulsive current made it impossible for me to get close. I could only hide behind a rock and was forced to become a bystander.

"You, a soul with no spiritual power, dare to be arrogant here? Aren't you afraid I'll swallow you whole?" Demonic Wen Heng, seemingly having his thoughts exposed, became even more arrogant and domineering.

"Heh!" Jin Guangwenheng coldly scoffed, devoid of any emotion or disdain.

"Then go die!" This cold rebuke completely enraged the demonic Wen Heng.

After saying that, a ball of demonic energy surged out of Wen Heng's head with great force, like a demon's mouth reaching out to surround and devour the golden-faced Wen Heng.

Wen Heng's immortal body, like a discarded, tattered rag doll, collapsed backwards towards the bottomless abyss behind him. My heart skipped a beat, and I panicked, thinking only of Zhou Lang's safety. The ghostly thing in front of me that had devoured a part of Wen Heng's consciousness seemed to have nothing to do with me and was very annoying.

I charged headlong toward the cliff edge where Wen Heng was about to fall. At the same time, I vaguely heard a strange, cold laugh in my ear. Then, it seemed as if a strange, powerful aura was helping me slam into the formation from behind. Using the force from my back, my body actually broke through the magic formation of this damned thing.

With a loud "boom!"

The sound of me forcefully breaking through a powerful barrier was so loud that the ghost, myself, and Wen Heng's consciousness all experienced a massive explosion once again, as if we had seen it before.

As always, that wretched thing had been blown away somewhere. Only the woman's angry and resentful curses could be faintly heard: "It's you again, you damned little flower spirit!"

My and Wen Heng's spiritual consciousness exploded in the direction where Wen Heng's immortal body fell.

My consciousness was somewhat blurred by the explosion; I only felt my body plummeting straight down the cliff without any sense of gravity.

I was thinking that if Wen Heng and I fell, we would definitely be smashed into two piles of minced meat.

Despite her resentment, she could only resign herself to her fate, closing her eyes and awaiting her inevitable demise.

Just when I was in utter despair, someone suddenly lifted me up around the waist and placed me in a warm, broad embrace.

I opened my eyes in disbelief to find Wen Heng carrying me as we floated down through the air.

"Are you Wen Heng?" I recognized at a glance that the person in front of me was no longer the Zhou Lang with the simple and pure eyes I usually saw. I remembered that the eyes of the God Wen Heng were just like they were now. Although they were pure, they had a bit more coldness and determination, as if they kept people at a distance.

It must have been that a fragment of Wenheng's divine consciousness had just returned to Zhou Lang's body.

He didn't reply to me, because his expression began to turn serious, and the hand holding me became weak and powerless. So he carried me and floated down to a cave halfway up the mountain.

As soon as we landed, we both staggered a few steps and saw him leaning weakly against the stone wall at the cave entrance.

"How are you? Are you alright...?" I anxiously leaned closer to him, asking if he was safe.

"Don't speak!" He waved his hand, signaling me not to come closer, and the three short words he uttered silenced my unfinished sentence.

The sun had already set, casting a red glow on his stubborn and unyielding face. I had only seen that familiar expression on his face when he was undergoing the tribulation of heavenly lightning.

If he hadn't been in extreme pain, he probably wouldn't have suppressed his emotions like this.

I knelt down in front of him, but my heart grew increasingly tense as his pained expression deepened.

He struggled to remove his clothes, revealing an upper body covered in hideous, terrifying black veins that slithered like maggots, spreading outwards from his heart area.

He sat cross-legged and began to regulate his internal energy, while I could only sit in front of him and watch him quietly.

It wasn't until the bright moon hung high in the sky at midnight that his writhing black veins slowly stopped spreading.

The solemn expression on his face, which had been restraining him, gradually began to soften.

"Do you like me?" These were the first words Wen Heng, the High God, spoke to me after his consciousness returned to his body. His tone was very indifferent, devoid of any emotion, and he didn't even glance at me with his eyes closed.

He is truly no longer the Zhou Lang who would gaze at me with burning eyes even when he spoke.

I lowered my eyes in disappointment, my voice dejected: "I only love Zhou Lang, not you."

"Zhou Lang is me, and I am Zhou Lang." His tone was as indifferent and ruthless as ever.

"So, have you fully recovered your health now?" I asked, somewhat unwilling to give up, avoiding his question.

"Considering your meritorious service in saving me just now, I will give you a chance to atone for your sins." He didn't even answer my question, and suddenly blurted out such a sentence. Was he starting to settle old scores with me?

"You were the one who robbed me of my spiritual power like a bandit. What sins do you want me to atone for?" I roared, looking at the person who kept everyone at arm's length under the moonlight.

At this moment, the person who had been disdainful of looking at me suddenly opened his eyes. The bright moonlight shone on his thick eyelashes, casting two shadows on his eyelids. His exposed eyes seemed to see right through me with just one glance. He stared intently at my forehead, as if he could see the mark of divine punishment that mortals could not see.

His eyes were clear, yet also held an imposing, unyielding authority: "Just as I expected, you little flower spirit dared to use forbidden techniques on me that even demons and monsters wouldn't dare touch!"

I was so taken aback by his words that I hurriedly explained, feeling a little guilty: "If I don't use forbidden techniques, am I supposed to let you drain my spiritual power and watch my spiritual body dissipate bit by bit? And you even drained the mountain god's spiritual power, are you a vampire?"

"As a mountain god, if I hadn't been away from my original place for decades, making it impossible for me to detect my mountain god aura, people who didn't know the truth would have thought that you, little flower spirit, stole the mountain god's seal in an attempt to take a shortcut to quickly cultivate into an immortal!"

"That was given to me by the Mountain God, who asked me to help him guard the mountain range," I said urgently.

"Whether it's the mountain god's dereliction of duty or not, handing over the mountain god's seal to a little flower spirit at will is already against the way of heaven and violates the rules of heaven. You and the mountain god should be punished! And you little flower spirit dare to argue with me about right and wrong?"

"I..." I was speechless, because everything he said was true.

But she still stubbornly retorted loudly, "Haven't I already incurred divine punishment and been transformed into a mortal body unable to use magic? What more do you want from me?"

"Besides helping me regain my immortal body and soul, don't forget that you also need a letter of understanding stamped with my immortal seal before you can be freed from the heavenly punishment and restore your spiritual body, otherwise..." He narrowed his eyes, revealing a wicked smile.

"So what do you want me to do? Don't beat around the bush with me." I really hadn't taken getting his forgiveness seriously, but I never expected it to be used as leverage today.

"Cultivate spirituality with me," he said, getting straight to the point.

I was speechless: "Spirit...Spirit...Cultivation...?"

I never expected him to make such a request, and so seriously at that!

Although it was unbelievable, my eyes couldn't help but look at his strong, well-defined upper body.

"I don't sell myself!" I swallowed hard. Although I had been lusting after his body for a long time, I couldn't bear to lay a hand on the innocent Zhou Lang because of my conscience and moral bottom line. Otherwise, I would definitely have ravaged him in this regard!

But the fact that he brought it up first made it feel like he was being taken advantage of.

Are you kidding me? Do you think I'd let someone else take advantage of me first?

"..." He remained silent, his eyes narrowed, casting a deathly gaze.

The atmosphere became eerily quiet, with only the faint rustling of leaves in the wind reaching one's ears.

I was actually intimidated by his imposing manner and my tone softened: "Unless... give me a reason why you need to cultivate spiritually. Aren't you a god? Now that you've returned to your immortal form, do you still need to cultivate spiritually?" I began to probe his tone to find out if he had truly returned completely.

I thought he wouldn't tell me, but to my surprise, he said frankly, "In order for us to cooperate smoothly and avoid mistakes, I don't mind telling you." His gaze finally turned to look at the stars and the bright moon in the night sky.

With a slight smirk, he continued, "Right now, my consciousness has only temporarily returned to my body. The remaining one soul and four spirits are still wandering outside, but just now, my magic power was sealed by this demonic energy. If this demonic energy continues to spread throughout my body, my soul and spirits will probably also be sealed, and my immortal body will never be able to awaken again."

Now, only through spiritual cultivation, combining the sealed spiritual power within you to strengthen my own, can the seal be broken and the remaining souls have a chance to be recalled. However, if we do not engage in spiritual cultivation with me before dawn, my divine consciousness will dissipate again, and regrouping it will be extremely difficult.

"Oh, so even if I can choose not to cultivate with you, I can still live for eight hundred years, while you will never have the chance to return to your body again. Who gave you the audacity to be so rude and unruly in front of me?" Knowing that he had also lost his magic power, she raised her voice and became arrogant.

No sooner had I finished speaking than he pounced on me like a raging beast, pinning me to the ground. His strong, powerful body pressed down on me, one hand gripping my arm tightly above my head, making me unable to move, while the other hand pinched my chin, rendering me immobile.

Its speed was so fast that I had no chance to retaliate.

The moonlight shone on his back, and his face, backlit, came close to me, making his sharply defined features appear even more striking in the shadows.

Only his eyes, gleaming like a bloodthirsty jackal eyeing its dying prey, stared intently at me. His warm breath brushed against my face, carrying a hint of untamed arrogance and warning: "Then you can try. I only said that returning to my body would be difficult, but that doesn't mean it's impossible. Although I'm powerless now, if I want to, I can still crush your bones in an instant!"

"Heh." I turned my head and chuckled coldly.

What I dislike most in my life is threats and warnings. If someone reveals their weakness first and threatens you, it means they're desperate, and at that moment, I lose all respect and fear for them.

"What are you laughing at?" He frowned, looking puzzled.

I scoffed: "Spiritual cultivation is a union between two lovers, where spiritual power grows stronger through intimate acts. How could a dignified god resort to threats and warnings to achieve his goal! It makes me think you're a truly shameless and scoundrel! Rather than be defiled by a lecher like you, I'd rather die. Do whatever you want with me!"

Sure enough, as soon as I said those words, it was as if I had pierced his heart. His face darkened, turning as black as charcoal.

Just as I was feeling smug, the hideous, dark blue veins on his body bulged out again, writhing and spreading like maggots.

The face and lips of the deity Wenheng turned deathly pale instantly.

The hands that were gripping my head, arms, and chin loosened weakly, and his eyes lost their sparkle.

"Ah Hua, save me, Zhou Lang is in so much pain." The God Wen Heng suddenly spoke in Zhou Lang's usual slow and clumsy tone.

"Zhou Lang?" I exclaimed in astonishment!
