Chapter 4 Ahua

Looking at my parents, who were filled with satisfaction, I nodded smugly at the little boy playing in the mud in the yard, grinning foolishly. My face clearly showed that I was different from him and that I wasn't a fool.

I found this kid's immortal body so quickly.

Judging from his foolish state, it must be because his other souls have scattered. As long as I find his soul, I can regain my magic power and freedom.

However, they completely disregarded the fact that they needed to seek God's forgiveness to be relieved of the divine punishment.

I can't take him away like this, and I happen to have nowhere to stay right now.

So I have to stay here and keep an eye on him. Well, that's a pleasant decision.

So in the days that followed, I not only learned to help the couple with farm work, chopping wood, washing clothes, and cooking,

There's nothing I can't do, only things you can't imagine. I'll repay you with this, so I have a reason to shamelessly stay here.

However, this week, the old couple saw that I was just a mute girl who couldn't speak and wasn't mentally challenged, yet I was so capable. They reasoned that someone in the family must have taught me.

They started trying various ways to communicate with me, asking if I had any family members, and kindly began to arrange for me to find them.

They kept saying that I would definitely miss my family if I got lost like this, and to their questions, I could only shake my head and wave my hands anxiously.

I want to stay here, can't you see that? Why don't you understand? Why are you helping me find my family?

As I rubbed my throbbing forehead, pondering what reason I could find to stay here long-term, I was filled with worry.

When my neighbor Aunt Wang, who was passing by, saw how capable I was, she helped me find another reason to stay: "Old Zhou, you two are so lucky. In your old age, you not only found a handsome son, but now you've found a capable and good daughter-in-law."

After covering her smile, Old Mrs. Zhou said seriously to the neighbor, "Don't talk nonsense and ruin that girl's reputation."

My neighbor, Aunt Wang, was drooling as she watched me, completely captivated by the innocent and handsome face of that pretty boy.

With a wicked grin as if he could read my mind, he said, "Whether it's a daughter-in-law or not, just ask the girl if she's willing, and you'll know."

When everyone turned to look at me, waiting for my answer, I finally snapped out of my daze.

He wiped the drool from the corner of his mouth, embarrassed, and gave them an awkward, enigmatic smile.

As long as I have a reason to stay here, I don't care about being a daughter-in-law.

He nodded at them with satisfaction.

At this moment, the silly boy seemed to cooperate with me, smiling with a clean and sunny smile like a crescent moon.

He tucked a small red flower, which he always carried with him, into the bun on top of my head, and called out to me, "Ah Hua."

The words "Ah Hua" that came out made everyone present burst into laughter.

The neighbor, Aunt Wang, laughed even more heartily: "Look at your Zhou Lang, he's so excited that he can even talk and knows to put a red flower on his wife. You two should hurry up and get things done."

When the Zhou couple saw that their son, who had never spoken before, had actually spoken for them today, they lifted up my hands and the boy's hands and covered them with their own, tears streaming down their faces with emotion.

Having received this kid's approval, they then used "Ahua" as my name. Although it's a bit corny, I am still a beautiful flower fairy.

Uncle Mountain God used to call me "Ghost Girl" all the time. Anyway, I don't have a proper name. Let them call me Ahua if they want. It sounds better than "Ghost Girl".

Soon after, Wen Heng and I were inexplicably pulled to wear bright red robes and had our hair and makeup styled in a more dignified manner than usual.

After being bowed to heaven and earth and to one's parents amidst a chorus of music played by a group of people, and then being pushed onto a bed covered with a bright red wedding quilt.

It was only then that I realized that the "wife" they were talking about was another way of referring to the wife or maiden in the storybook I had read, after the two lovers got married.

I stared blankly at the handsome young man with his clear, star-like eyes, who was having a great time playing with the red flower on my head.

I slapped my forehead and lay down on the bright red wedding quilt, lamenting repeatedly, "How hasty, how hasty, what a disaster!"

I was so hasty in marrying this guy; I didn't think it through at all.

"You're lucky," I thought, sitting up with a disgruntled expression and pinching the boy's innocent-looking face to vent my frustration.

His clear, bright eyes blinked at me innocently as always. I shook my head in disbelief. Having such an innocent face was truly a heart-wrenching thing.
