Chapter 228 Extra: The Modern World (Part 2)

At the Yan family home, Yan Qingran went to her bedroom to take a shower, while Ruoruo wandered around the house, familiarizing herself with the place.

Only Mr. Yan was in the living room. Ruoruo mustered up her courage, leaned closer to him, and whispered a soft "mmm" to him.

Grandpa, Ruoruo is very well-behaved.

Mr. Yan frowned and waved to Ruoruo, "Go away, go play somewhere else."

Ruoruo lowered her head in disappointment, sobbing, "Grandpa doesn't like Ruoruo."

No! Ruoruo must try harder!

Ruoruo Cat cautiously took a step toward Father Yan.

Okay, Grandpa didn't notice. She took another small step forward and found that Grandpa still didn't look up.

So she excitedly took a big step forward.

Mr. Yan frowned and looked up: "I told you to go play somewhere else."

He put away the book, intending to go to the study to read, without waiting for his mother.

Ruoruo got anxious, took two steps forward, and buried her head between his legs.

Mr. Yan stumbled and almost tripped. Before he could get angry, he saw Xiao Mao immediately order a set of clothes, then rolled over and revealed his white belly.

The white belly was clean, without a speck of dust.

The kitten looked at him expectantly and meowed.

Suddenly, Mr. Yan couldn't get angry anymore.

This kitten looks so clean, it shouldn't be dirty, right?

He turned his head and glanced around, but didn't see his wife and daughter.

With a serious expression, he squatted down and patted Ruoruo's belly.

Hmm, it does look very comfortable.

With a stern face, Daddy Yan patted his belly a couple more times, and then, as if by magic, rubbed his tail and head.

"Old Yan." It was Yan's mother's voice that suddenly came from upstairs.

Mr. Yan immediately withdrew his hand and threatened Ruoruo, "Stay away from me, understand?"

Then he hurriedly left with the book in his hand.

Ruoruo looked completely bewildered after her cat was petted by Yan's father.

Does Grandpa like her or not?

Yan Qingran laughed uncontrollably when she found out: "That's just your grandfather's personality. If he's willing to let you into the house, it must mean he likes you. Don't worry about him."

At night, Ruoruo, feeling thirsty, groggily got up to find some water.

When I got to the living room, I bumped into Yan's mother, who had also come to get a drink of water.

Seeing the kitten's sleepy eyes and unsteady gait, its mother couldn't help but chuckle and rub its head.

Looking at the tall water dispenser, Ruoruo raised her head and said to her mother, "Grandma, Ruoruo wants to drink water too."

Mrs. Yan's hand, which was stroking the cat's head, froze. She looked at Ruoruo with a hint of fear in her eyes: "What did you say?"

"Ruoruo is thirsty, Grandma, Ruoruo wants to drink water." Ruoruo repeated.

Mother Yan screamed, dropped the water glass in her hand, and turned to run back.

"Old Yan, get up quickly, there's a monster!"

Huh? Ruoruo rubbed her face blankly. "Mom said there are no monsters in this world. What is Grandma afraid of?"

A dozen minutes later, the whole family, all dressed in their pajamas, sat together in the living room.

Yan Qingran rubbed her temples helplessly: "I was thinking of telling you after a while..."

Who knew that the sleepy kitten would poke it open so easily.

"Ruoruo, turn back into human form," Yan Qingran said.

Ruoruo transformed back into her little girl form amidst the tense and terrified expressions of Yan's parents.

The pretty and adorable little girl greeted them somewhat shyly: "Hello, Grandpa and Grandma. I'm sorry, Ruoruo didn't mean to scare you."

Mr. Yan hugged Mrs. Yan, who was trembling slightly, and looked at Yan Qingran seriously: "Tell me, what happened?"

Yan Qingran had no choice but to explain the whole story of her time travel clearly, but she omitted the dangerous parts.

But Yan's father and mother were not stupid. How could they not know that their daughter must have secretly suffered a lot while she was alone in a foreign land, but she just didn't tell them?

The family chatted for a while, and then Yan's mother hugged Ruoruo in her arms: "My dear girl, I'm sorry. Grandma wasn't afraid of you. Grandma just didn't know you were Grandma's good girl."

"It's okay, it's Ruoruo's fault. Ruoruo scared Grandma." Ruoruo secretly glanced at Grandpa, "Besides, Grandpa doesn't like Ruoruo..."

"Nonsense! My granddaughter, how could I not like her?" Mr. Yan asked Yan Qingran angrily, his face stern. "Why hasn't that man come back? Is he treating you badly? If something's wrong, we won't go back."

Yan Qingran smiled helplessly and explained for a long time before she was able to calm her parents down.

The next morning at breakfast, Yan's mother specially asked the cook to make a children's meal for Ruoruo and placed it next to Yan Qingran.

Ruoruo had never eaten the food here before. She slurped up a mouthful of saliva, then ate it with great satisfaction.

Yan's mother received a phone call and returned with a worried look on her face.

“The cleaning lady took the day off today. She said her daughter encountered a white tiger in the downtown area last night and injured her leg while trying to escape. She’s taking care of her daughter at the hospital.” Ms. Yan sighed. “I don’t know how she managed to escape from the zoo.”

"Are there white tigers in this world too?" Ruoruo excitedly raised her head. "Let me see if they look similar to Fourth Brother."

Yan Qingran picked up her phone and scrolled through it, her expression freezing for a moment.

Ruoruo tiptoed and tugged at Yan Qingran's hand, exclaiming, "How come he looks exactly like Fourth Brother? Isn't that bird on his head Third Brother's head?"

Yan Qingran sighed, wondering why these two had followed them.

The internet is currently flooded with their trending topics, and the silly antics of the tiger and bird in the photos and videos make Yan Qingran both laugh and cry.
