It has never been an easy task to wake up Qiu Jiahe from a deep sleep, but Zhao Mei has been familiar with it for three years.
Zhao Mei took out a face towel, wet it, and wrung it out slightly. She walked to Qiu Jiahe, gently patted his face, and then she could enjoy his jumping performance.
Qiu Jiahe sat up with a sudden movement: "Zhao Meili! Be gentle, Zhao Meili!" Then he took off the washcloth from his face.
"Student Qiu Jiahe, this is the last resort we agreed upon after I failed you for the fifth time. Besides, my home is a bit far from school, so hurry up."
"Of course, if you want to miss Zhao Jing's breakfast, you can just sleep for another ten minutes." After saying that, Zhao Mei waved her hand and went downstairs. She sat steadily in front of the dining table full of breakfast, waiting quietly.
After a while, the scene Zhao Mei was waiting for appeared. Qiu Jiahe rushed down the stairs, shouting, "It's already this late! Zhao Meili! Am I going to miss out on the loving breakfast made by this handsome guy?"
Zhao Mei looked at her helplessly: "Don't worry, I expected you wouldn't be able to get up on time, so I asked Zhao Jing to make you a sandwich to eat on the way. Go put on your coat and let's go."
Qiu Jiahe ran over and gave Zhao Mei a bear hug, then ran to the sofa, put on his coat, and got into the car with Zhao Mei.
The capital's horrific morning rush hour forced the two of them to enter the classroom almost at the exact moment the bell rang. Looking at the professor's sullen face, they could only smile and hope that the professor would show mercy.
After class, Zhao Mei asked Qiu Jiahe to wait for her in the cafeteria for dinner, while she went to find the counselor.
The counselor's office was on the third floor of the main teaching building. Zhao Mei knocked on the door and went in.
The instructor glanced at Zhao Mei and asked, "What's the matter?"
"Counselor, I plan to donate money to the school."
"Are you alone?" The instructor stopped what he was doing.
Zhao Mei nodded: "Yes, in my personal capacity."
“How much do you plan to donate?”
"About eight figures?"
"...Eight digits? Eight digits?!" The instructor was so frightened that he almost dropped the mouse in his hand. "Wait a minute, I'll take you to see the principal..."
Zhao Mei anticipated this outcome. It would be more accurate to say that her original purpose was to find the principal through the counselor.
After arriving at the principal's office and waiting for a while, Zhao Mei saw the principal rushing over.
After standing up and shaking hands with the principal, and after everyone sat down, Zhao Mei went straight to the point.
"Hello, President. My name is Zhao Mei. I'm a student in the Department of Chinese Language and Literature. I'm about to graduate, and I hope I can donate 20 million yuan to our school in my personal name."
"Hello, Mr. Zhao, donating money is no joke, you know?"
"I know. I believe no one would dare to make such a big joke."
After Zhao Mei finished speaking, she took out her Huaxia Bank black card from her bag. She didn't expect that the first time she would use it would be in such a grand occasion.
"And I can transfer the money right away. I also hope that the thank-you ceremony can be held at the orientation party tonight. After all... my parents really want to see it."
Speaking of parents, the principal immediately showed an understanding expression, and instantly showed a little more trust.
"Thank you so much for your contribution to education. Your dedication will be remembered by our school."
Zhao Mei politely responded, "No, no, it's my duty to contribute to my alma mater. However, there's one more thing..."
"Recently, because my parents no longer let me experience life, my life has returned to the old standard, which seems to have become a means for some people to attack my reputation."
"I'd really like to not care, but my parents can't. I'm only telling you this because I might file a lawsuit soon. I hope the school doesn't mind."
The principal was also puzzled by Zhao Mei's inexplicable remarks, but he still expressed his understanding: "Protecting one's personal reputation is the right of every citizen. I have no right to stop it."
Zhao Mei nodded and thanked the principal. The principal stood up and shook hands with Zhao Mei again, then politely invited her to dinner. Zhao Mei politely declined and followed the principal out. The school finance department got the school account and asked Zhao Jing to transfer the money.
After taking a few photos with the school's finance department as usual, Zhao Mei said goodbye and went to have dinner with Qiu Jiahe. Of course, the school didn't keep her waiting for long. Before the afternoon class, Zhao Mei saw a message on the school's official account: "Thank you to Zhao Mei, a student from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at Capital University, for donating 20 million Chinese Yuan."
Since the thank-you ceremony hadn't taken place yet, the only picture included was a hastily taken group photo in the morning, but the forum still went wild.
"Did you see the push just now? A college student donated 20 million to the school!"
"Stop it, stop it. Comparing yourself to others is frustrating. Others have already donated 20 million to the school, and I'm still worried about how I'm going to pay back my Huabei loan this month..."
"That Zhao Mei from Chinese Language and Literature? Wasn't she the one who made such a fuss yesterday about having plastic surgery and being a mistress?"
"You listen to a dog barking? Just watch it for fun. No one will really believe it, right? Just waving your hand for tens of millions, and you tell me you're being kept?"
"To be honest, if they can come up with 20 million, even if they really did it, it's just their own doing, and they didn't touch your face."
Zhao Mei raised her eyebrows at the reversal of public opinion, looked at Qiu Jiahe who was still unaware of the situation, and considering the surprise at the evening party, she silently put her phone in her pocket.
Because the school had just started, the afternoon and evening were filled with classes. It was not until the end of the evening classes, when there were only three hours left before the evening party, that Zhao Mei accompanied Qiu Jiahe to the final rehearsal. This was also the first time Zhao Mei saw Yan Zhi at work.
Zhao Mei escorted Qiu Jiahe backstage, and then entered the small auditorium from the side back door. Under the stage of the small auditorium, Yan Zhi was sitting in a row. From the side, her frowning face could be clearly seen.
