Chapter 57 Thank you very much

The man was wearing a baseball cap, had long hair and a pale face, and was wearing an oversized beige sweatshirt and washed jeans.

Zhao Mei and Qiu Jiahe heard her call Xu Yan and turned to look in her direction. Xu Yan stopped typing and took off her glasses. "Your arrival really brightens up my humble studio, Xi Yun."

Qiu Jiahe, who had just finished eating the melon, couldn't help but turn his head to ask Zhao Mei, and Zhao Mei could only desperately wink at her to indicate that she didn't know either. The two of them had a wonderful tacit understanding that made them wink at each other while not forgetting to eat the melon quietly.

Xu Yan didn't stand up to greet this unexpected guest, but looked up at her: "So, what's wrong? Do you understand how I felt back then? Are you here to repent?"

Before she finished speaking, Xu Yan covered her mouth and laughed, refuting herself: "Oh, I forgot, how could you regret it?"

Xi Yun bit her lower lip tightly at Xu Yan's mockery, and her hands clenched slightly in her hoodie sleeves. "Xu Yan, please let me go. I've already been fired from Alice Company. What else do you want?"

Xu Yan's eyes suddenly turned cold, her smile disappeared, and she stared at Xi Yun.

Xi Yun hadn't anticipated Xu Yan's reaction. Unable to tolerate the tense atmosphere, she continued, "I can't even do my favorite job anymore. That's enough, Xu Yan! Do you really have to push me to the brink of death?"

Looking coldly at Xi Yun's red eyes, Xu Yan felt for the first time that she could be so calm in front of this person: "Is that all you want to say to me? If so, then you might as well just turn around and leave. Don't waste time."

Xi Yun, who didn't get the result she wanted, looked at the indifferent Xu Yan, tears welling up in her eyes. "It was the company, it was clearly the company that ordered me to steal. What could I do? Yanyan, you know me. How could I possibly rebel against the company like you did?"

"I finally found a job at such a big company. My abilities don't allow me to start a brand like you. I just faced the reality. I know I was wrong, Yanyan. Please let me go."

Xu Yan held her cheek and laughed sarcastically, "I won't say anything else, Xi Yun. What do you mean by threatening you because of the company? Do you believe it?"

"You can lie to others, but don't lie to yourself. If you hadn't taken the initiative to tell the company, how would they know you found my manuscript? Our relationship was very strained before I left."

Xu Yan ignored Xi Yun's sudden choking expression and continued to speak: "Just because it's not easy for you to find a job like this, does that mean my brand and I should die?

"Besides, I asked you before I resigned. I told you that as long as you're willing, you can come and help me make patterns and clothes. What about you?"

"I've given you so much, so much sincerity, so much seriousness, and what did you give me in return? Not only did you ignore this matter, but you also stabbed me in the back."

"I will never forgive you, Xi Yun."

Xi Yun looked at the expressionless Xu Yan in astonishment. She gritted her teeth and retorted, tears streaming down her face, "They're just some sketches! You could always draw more! And just because I took some of your garbage, you're so heartless?"

"You actually brought up what happened back then. You clearly just mentioned it casually. Who knows what the consequences would be if I resigned with you!"

"And you sound good when you talk about pattern maker and assistant, but to put it bluntly, aren't you looking down on me? I've been your shadow for long enough since college, Xu Yan. Since college, people can only remember your work and your name. I'm by your side, but I'm like an invisible person." Probably knowing that the purpose of her coming here today would not be achieved, the nervous Xi Yun became more and more frustrated as she spoke.

"Even if I was finally remembered a few times, it was all because of your charity. I'm not completely ignorant, Xu Yan. I even know about the two homework assignments you secretly drew."

"Do you think I'll be happy? Not at all! I only see your arrogance! Who needs your cheap charity?"

Xu Yan's calm and indifferent face finally showed some cracks. She lowered her head, covering her face with her hands, and laughed non-stop: "Xi Yun, I never knew you thought of me this way. Thank you for your honesty. It made me realize that, at least in the future, I was completely wrong."

"My memory of you was still stuck in our freshman year. You were a sweaty girl making the bed in the dormitory alone. I dragged my suitcase and opened the door, and you turned around and smiled at me. I will always remember it."

The eyes that peeked out from between Xu Yan's fingers were filled with nostalgia: "Later, we went to buy food together, attended classes, painted, and went on trips. Your cheerful personality was something I had never experienced in my first half of life. At that time, I was curious about how someone could be so cheerful and optimistic."

"And this you, it seems, is forever stuck in the year you graduated from college. I think my time has also been stagnant there."

"But I got over it a long time ago. Seeing you now, it's like I'm saying goodbye to my past self. In a way, I'm very grateful to you, Xi Yun."

Xu Yan's eyes when she looked at Xi Yun were no longer cold, but full of compassion. Xi Yun seemed to be hurt by this warmth. She shuddered, and her tears were scared away, leaving only dry eyes.

Xi Yun didn't dare to look Xu Yan in the eye anymore and turned around in panic. The gaze behind her seemed to be filled with high temperature, trying to burn her heart.

The hesitant Xi Yun finally waited for the elevator, lowered her head and hurriedly left the place. She went downstairs and turned on her mobile phone. Before she could search, a news popped up on the browser: "A man broke into a house late at night and stole gold bars. The police arrested him within six hours and he was eventually sentenced to three years in prison." With a snap, the phone was thrown to the ground by her trembling hands.
