Chapter 257 Coming for Revenge

Chapter 257 Coming for Revenge

Lu Rang's kiss was rough and forceful, completely lacking his usual gentleness, which made Shang Wu freeze instantly.

She pushed hard against Lu Rang's chest, trying to break free, but Lu Rang was too strong, and she couldn't move him at all.

Lu Rang's hand slid down her waist, his intentions clear: he wanted to have sex with her and keep her by his side in this way.

Shang Wu was completely panicked and furious. She never expected Lu Rang to lose control to this extent.

The man who once cherished her and promised to protect her for life would actually hurt her in this way.

Taking advantage of Lu Rang's inattention, she raised her hand and slapped him across the cheek with all her might.

The sharp "snap" sounded particularly jarring in the quiet living room.

Lu Rang was stunned by the slap. He let go of Shang Wu and looked at her incredulously. A clear handprint quickly appeared on his cheek.

Shang Wu was also stunned for a moment. She looked at her hands and then at Lu Rang's face. She felt a mix of emotions, but she didn't say anything. She turned around and walked towards the bedroom.

Lu Rang stood there, watching her back, his throat tightening, wanting to say something, but unable to utter a single word.

In the bedroom, Shang Wu leaned against the door, tears finally streaming down her face. A corner of her heart seemed to have shattered completely with that slap.

That night, the two were in the same bedroom, yet separated by the greatest distance between them. Neither spoke, and a suffocating silence filled the air.

Shang Wu woke up just as dawn was breaking.

She looked at Lu Rang, who was still fast asleep beside her, her eyes devoid of their usual tenderness, only filled with coldness.

She got up quietly, her movements very soft, afraid of waking Lu Rang. Then she took a few of her usual clothes from the wardrobe and packed them into a small suitcase.

She left no note, nor did she glance at Lu Rang again. Carrying her suitcase, she gently pushed open the bedroom door and walked out of the villa.

Sunlight streamed through the clouds and fell upon her, but it brought her no warmth whatsoever.

She took a taxi to her design studio.

This is a place she decorated herself, and it's the only corner where she can feel at ease.

Pushing open the studio door, Shang Wu took a deep breath, placed her suitcase in the corner, and then walked to the window, looking at the street outside.

When Lu Rang woke up in the villa, he found that the spot next to him was already cold.

He panicked and immediately got up, searching the villa, but couldn't find Shang Wu.

When he noticed the missing clothes in the closet, he realized that Shang Wu had left, quietly departing while he was asleep.

He sat on the sofa, looking at the empty villa. The slap mark on his cheek still throbbed faintly, but his heart ached even more than his face.

On the second floor of the studio, Aying was hunched over her computer organizing design drafts when she heard a noise. She looked up and saw Shang Wu standing at the door with a suitcase, and her eyes widened instantly.

"President Shang? What brings you here? And with your suitcase, are you moving in?" Aying put down her mouse, walked over quickly, her face full of shock.

Shang Wu nodded, placed her suitcase in the corner, and sounded a little tired.

"Okay, I'll stay here for a while."

Seeing the bloodshot eyes and the undisguised loneliness in her eyes, Aying couldn't help but ask, "Did you have a fight with Mr. Lu? Why do you suddenly want to move out?"

Shang Wu walked to the sofa and sat down, her fingers unconsciously stroking the armrest. After a few seconds of silence, she slowly spoke: "Do you remember when I was unconscious last time?"

Aying nodded: "Of course I remember. You were in the hospital for several days, and we were all worried sick."

Shang Wu's voice trembled slightly, and tears welled up in her eyes. "When I was unconscious, he didn't discuss it with me. He signed the surgical consent form on his own, choosing to save me and abandon the child."

Aying was stunned. She opened her mouth, but didn't know what to say.

“I know he meant well, but I’m the child’s mother.” Shang Wu sniffed, tears still falling. “Even knowing that my body might be damaged, I wanted to protect that child. It’s my child with him. From that moment on, it felt like a thorn was stuck in my heart, and I couldn’t get over it.”

She raised her hand to wipe away her tears and continued, "Later, he got close to Lin Ruan and stayed out all night at Lin Ruan's place. I didn't suspect anything at first, but yesterday, he even suspected that I had something going on with Chunzhi, thinking that if I changed my clothes and went out with Chunzhi, it meant we were on a date."

“He doesn’t trust me at all, and he can’t see my sadness.” Shang Wu’s voice turned cold. “Right now, I just want to move out, calm down for a while, and figure out if we can still go on.”

After hearing this, Aying clenched her fists in anger: "Lu Lu went too far! Even if it's for your own good, he can't make decisions without consulting you! And that Lin Ruan, anyone with eyes can see that something's wrong with her. Since he knows you misunderstood, why didn't he just fire Lin Ruan? Why keep her around to cause trouble!"

Shang Wu shook her head, her eyes weary: "He has his reasons, and there's no point in talking about it now."

Seeing her like this, Aying felt both angry and heartbroken. She could only sigh and say, "Then stay here and make yourself at ease. If you need any help, just let me know and I'll take care of it for you."

Shang Wu looked at her gratefully: "Thank you, Aying."

Meanwhile, at Lu Rang's law firm, Lin Ruan, carrying a glass of warm water, gently pushed open the door to his office.

Dressed in a well-fitting business suit, with just the right amount of guilt on her face, she walked to Lu Rang's desk: "Attorney Lu, are you still busy? I've made you a cup of warm water."

Lu Rang looked up, his eyes bloodshot, clearly having not slept well all night.

Looking at Lin Ruan, he recalled Shang Wu's departing figure, and his agitation intensified.

Lin Ruan placed the water glass in front of him, lowered her head, and said in a wronged tone, "Attorney Lu, I'm sorry, it's all my fault. The problem in your relationship with Miss Shang is because I let you stay at my place last time, which caused Miss Shang to misunderstand."

Her words seemed to remind Lu Rang, and he frowned sharply, a question suddenly popping into his mind.

He's clearly allergic to alcohol. He got dizzy after just two drinks at the last party. How could he have gotten so drunk that he was unconscious and then woke up in Lin Ruan's apartment?

Moreover, apart from a headache, there was no allergic reaction after waking up.

He looked up at Lin Ruan, his eyes turning cold: "Was there something wrong with the alcohol I drank at the last party? I'm allergic to alcohol, so why didn't I show any allergic symptoms after I got drunk, and why was I able to stay in your apartment all night without any problems?"

Lin Ruan's heart skipped a beat, but she maintained her aggrieved expression.

Her eyes instantly reddened: "Attorney Lu, how could you think of me like that? How could I do such a thing? Last time you drank too much, I was just worried about your safety going home alone, so I let you rest at my place for a while. I stayed on the sofa in the living room the whole time and didn't touch you."

"You didn't touch me?" Lu Rang stared at her, his tone icy. "Then why was I so drunk? I can't even remember how I got from the restaurant to your apartment? If you didn't tamper with anything, we'll go check the security footage from the restaurant and the apartment building right now to see what really happened."

When Lin Ruan heard the words "check the surveillance footage," she panicked even more, but she still tried to remain calm as tears streamed down her face.

“Attorney Lu, you’ve really misunderstood me. The surveillance footage can be reviewed, but I really didn’t do anything. I just thought of you as my boss and wanted to help you. I never expected it would cause you and Ms. Shang so much trouble.”

Seeing her crying and sobbing, Lu Rang felt a surge of irritation and pinched the bridge of his nose: "Stop talking."

He paused for a few seconds, then said firmly, "Within half a month, hand over your work and leave the law firm. Your presence has already caused Shang Wu and me too much unnecessary trouble."

Lin Ruan was both shocked and angry upon hearing this, but dared not show it.

She could only bite her lip and nod sadly, "I understand, Attorney Lu. I will hand over my work as soon as possible. I'm sorry to have troubled you."

After saying that, she turned and walked out of the office. The moment she closed the door, the grievance on her face vanished without a trace, and a fierce glint flashed in her eyes.

She took out her phone, dialed a number, and said in an icy voice, "The plan needs to be sped up. Lu Rang wants me to leave the law firm within half a month. We need to get Shang Wu completely away from Lu Rang before that happens, so we can avenge my cousin!"

A deep voice came from the other end of the phone: "Don't worry, I've made arrangements. We'll make them break ties completely very soon."

Lin Ruan hung up the phone, a cold smile curling at the corner of her lips.

She won't leave so easily. In the next two weeks, she's determined to cause something big so that Lu Rang and Shang Wu will never have a chance to turn back.
