Chapter 322 Let's Make Up
Although Fu Yan had subdued Jin Ting, he still had to deal with two knife-wielding thugs, which put him in a dangerous situation.
With his exceptional reflexes and fighting skills, he narrowly avoided fatal attacks, but his arms and back were still slashed several times, and his clothes were instantly stained with blood.
Lu Yuwu was tied up to the side, watching with a pounding heart. Tears streamed down her face as she made anxious whimpering noises, struggling desperately but unable to break free of the ropes.
Jin Ting was pinned down by Fu Yan, watching him get injured while protecting another woman, seeing the resoluteness and undisguised disgust in his eyes, and her last shred of reason completely collapsed.
Taking advantage of the moment when Fu Yan was parrying another thug's attack, she suddenly broke free of one hand, pulled out a small dagger that she had prepared beforehand from her waist, and stabbed it toward Fu Yan's back with a frantic look in her eyes!
"Ugh!" Fu Yan sensed the danger behind him, but it was too late to dodge. He could only try his best to turn to the side, and the dagger pierced deep into the area below his right shoulder blade.
He groaned, his movements slowing instantly.
Another assailant seized the opportunity and slashed his abdomen with a knife.
"Ah!" Lu Yuwu screamed in terror as she witnessed this scene.
Jin Ting pulled out the dagger, stared at the blood gushing from Fu Yan's shoulder and his pale face from the pain, paused for a moment, then burst into maniacal laughter.
She stood up unsteadily, still clutching the blood-dripping dagger in her hand.
Jin Ting seemed to have forgotten the fighting around her, immersed in her own world. She walked step by step to the edge of a second-floor platform in the center of the factory, which had no railings and led directly to the concrete ground below. She murmured, "It's good that you're dead. If you're dead, you'll be mine forever..."
Just then, a resolute glint flashed in Lu Yuwu's eyes.
Everyone's attention was on Fu Yan and Jin Ting.
Especially since Jin Ting was standing with her back to her on the edge of the completely exposed platform.
With all the strength she had left, Lu Yuwu kicked Jin Ting hard in the lower back.
"Ah!" Caught off guard, Jin Ting let out a short scream, instantly losing her balance and falling straight off the edge of the second floor, crashing heavily onto the hard concrete ground below.
She twitched twice and then stopped moving; it was unclear whether she was dead or alive.
This sudden turn of events stunned the remaining two thugs, causing them to pause in their movements.
Despite the excruciating pain in his shoulder and abdomen, Fu Yan seized the opportunity to snatch the dagger from the assailant in front of him, subdued him, and glared fiercely at his terrified accomplice.
The tape on Lu Yuwu's mouth had loosened a bit when she kicked it hard. She twisted her head forcefully, rubbed off the tape, and, ignoring the burning pain, yelled at the two panicked thugs.
"Your boss is finished! The police are on their way! Surrender now and you might get lenient treatment! If you hurt us again, you're dead!"
Her voice was hoarse from excitement and lack of oxygen, but it carried an undeniable air of authority and composure.
The two thugs were just a bunch of ragtag people hired by Jin Ting. When they saw that Jin Ting's life or death was unknown, they immediately lost their fighting spirit. After looking at each other, they actually threw away their knives and squatted down on the ground with their heads in their hands.
Seeing that the situation was under control, Fu Yan breathed a sigh of relief, swayed, and slowly slid down to the ground against the wall. Blood was still flowing from the wounds on his shoulder and abdomen, and his face was as pale as paper.
"Fu Yan!" Lu Yuwu shouted anxiously at the two thugs squatting on the ground, "Hurry up and untie him! Do you want to wait until he bleeds to death?!"
The two men then realized what was happening and scrambled over to untie Lu Yuwu's ropes.
As soon as her hands were freed, Lu Yuwu rushed to Fu Yan's side. Seeing the blood gushing from his body, tears streamed down her face like broken beads.
Her voice trembled violently: "Fu Yan! Fu Yan, how are you? Don't scare me!"
She futilely pressed her hand against the wound on his abdomen, trying to stop the bleeding, but the warm liquid continued to seep out from between her fingers.
Fu Yan raised his uninjured hand and gently touched her cheek, forcing a weak but reassuring smile, his voice barely audible: "Don't cry, it's good that you're alright..."
"Hold on! You have to hold on!" Lu Yuwu cried, turning to the two terrified thugs and yelling, "My phone! Give me my phone! Call the police! Call an ambulance! Quickly!"
One of them hurriedly pulled out his phone and handed it to her. Lu Yuwu's fingers trembled, almost unable to hold the phone, and she quickly dialed the police and emergency numbers, giving them the address of the abandoned factory.
After doing all this, she threw away her phone, hugged Fu Yan tightly again, and pressed her face against his cold forehead.
Lu Yuwu repeatedly whispered in Fu Yan's ear, "Hang in there, Fu Yan, please hang in there. You can't get hurt. We haven't made up yet..."
...
The hospital corridor was filled with the distinctive, cold smell of disinfectant, and the lights were blindingly white.
Time stretched endlessly in the agonizing wait, each minute and second feeling like torture.
Lu Yuwu, wearing the coat that Shang Wu had hastily brought her, huddled on a bench in the corridor, her hands clasped tightly together, her knuckles white.
Her face was still streaked with tears and dust, her eyes staring blankly at the bright red indicator light above the operating room, her body trembling slightly uncontrollably. Fu Yan had been wheeled in for almost three hours; every second felt like a slow, agonizing torture.
Shang Wu and Lu Rang stayed by her side, one on each side, constantly offering soft words of comfort.
Lu Rang's face was solemn, his brows furrowed, while Shang Wu's eyes were red as she tightly held her daughter's cold hand.
Lu Zheng and Luo Jun also rushed over.
A series of hurried footsteps came from the end of the corridor, and Chairman Fu and his wife rushed over.
Madam Fu's well-maintained face was now completely bloodless, and her eyes were filled with panic and tears.
"Where's Yanyan? How is my son?" Mrs. Fu asked in a trembling voice, almost unable to stand, and was supported by Chairman Fu.
"They're still trying to save him," Lu Rang replied in a low, grave voice. "The doctor said it's from excessive blood loss, and he has knife wounds to his shoulder and abdomen..."
Madam Fu's tears welled up instantly.
Just then, the operating room lights finally went out.
The door was pushed open, and the attending physician came out while taking off his mask.
Everyone immediately crowded around.
"Doctor, how is my son?"
"Doctor, is he alright?"
Looking at the anxious family members, the doctor reassured them, "Don't worry, the surgery was very successful. The patient is in good physical condition. Although he lost a lot of blood, fortunately, no vital organs were damaged. He needs to be sent to the ICU for observation overnight. If his condition is stable, he can be transferred to a regular ward tomorrow."
Hearing the doctor's words, everyone finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Mrs. Fu's legs went weak and she almost collapsed to the ground, but Chairman Fu held her tightly and she wept with joy.
Lu Yuwu's tense nerves suddenly relaxed.
Her legs went weak and she almost fell, but Shang Wu caught her in time.
Looking at Fu Yan, who was pale and unconscious, tears streamed down her face again.
The atmosphere in the corridor eased slightly after Fu Yan was safely transferred to the ICU.
Lu Yuwu took a deep breath, walked up to Chairman Fu and his wife, and bowed deeply, her voice choked with emotion and deep remorse.
"Uncle Fu, Aunt Fu, I'm so sorry... It's all because of me that Fu Yan is so badly injured. I'm so sorry..."
If it weren't for saving her, Fu Yan would never have been involved in this undeserved disaster and would never have almost lost his life.
Chairman Fu quickly offered a helping hand: "Child, don't be like this. It's not your fault. Those thugs are just heartless!"
Madam Fu wiped away her tears, stepped forward and took Lu Yuwu's hand. Looking at her pale and haggard face and red and swollen eyes, she felt both heartache and emotion.
She gently patted Lu Yuwu's hand, her tone tender yet firm: "Xiaowu, don't talk nonsense. It was Yanyan who willingly went to save you."
“You didn’t see it. When he found out about your accident, he looked like he was ready to fight anyone. I’ve never seen him care about anyone like that before.”
She paused, her gaze loving yet expectant, looking at Lu Yuwu, then at Shang Wu and Lu Rang beside her.
"After this experience, Auntie understands that this boy has set his sights on you. If you think our boy is alright, let's find a time to settle things between you two once he's better. Auntie sincerely hopes that you can become our Fu family's daughter-in-law."
These words were spoken so frankly and earnestly that they were practically a marriage proposal.
Lu Yuwu's face flushed red instantly, all the way to her ears. Her heart raced, and she lowered her head in embarrassment, her fingers unconsciously twisting the hem of her clothes. She didn't dare to look at anyone.
Shang Wu and Lu Rang exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with understanding and a hint of relief.
Lu Rang calmly replied, "Madam Fu, you flatter us. As long as the two children are willing, we, as their parents, have no objections."
Shang Wu gently put her arm around her daughter's shoulder and smiled at Madam Fu, "Yes, the children have been through so much, and we can see each other's feelings. As long as Xiao Wu agrees, we will naturally give our blessings."
All eyes fell on Lu Yuwu, who had her head down.
Encouraged by her mother's gentle touch, Lu Yuwu mustered her courage, raised her face, still shy, but with an unusually firm look in her eyes.
She looked at Madam Fu, whose eyes were full of expectation, nodded gently, and said, "Yes, I'm willing."
Madam Fu immediately beamed with joy and grasped her hand tightly.
The following afternoon, Fu Yan's condition stabilized, and he was transferred to a VIP ward.
When he woke up, the anesthesia had worn off, and the pain from his wound made him frown. But the first thing he said when he opened his eyes was in a hoarse voice, "Is Xiaowu alright?"
Madam Fu, who was by the bedside, felt both heartache and amusement. She scolded, "You're in such a state yourself, and you're still thinking about others! Xiao Wu is fine, she didn't suffer any minor injuries, all thanks to you."
Fu Yan breathed a sigh of relief, but then stubbornly said, "I want to see her."
Unable to dissuade him and understanding his thoughts, Madam Fu had no choice but to go out and call in Lu Yuwu, who was waiting anxiously outside the door.
Lu Yuwu gently pushed open the ward door and went inside.
Sunlight streamed through the window onto the hospital bed. Fu Yan, dressed in a blue and white striped hospital gown, was still pale, with thick gauze wrapped around his shoulders, and leaned weakly against the headboard.
When he saw her, Fu Yan's eyes lit up instantly, filled with the joy and tenderness of having regained what he had lost.
Lu Yuwu walked to the bedside, looked at the injuries on his body, felt a lump in her throat, and her eyes reddened again.
"Why are you crying? You look awful." Fu Yan's voice was low and hoarse from weakness, but it carried a hint of his usual teasing. He raised his uninjured left hand, wanting to wipe away her tears.
Lu Yuwu leaned down, carefully avoiding his wound, wrapped her arms around his neck, and buried her face in the uninjured side of his neck.
Feeling the real warmth and softness in his arms and the slight trembling, Fu Yan's body stiffened slightly, then relaxed, and he gently hugged her back with his left hand.
“Fu Yan,” Lu Yuwu’s voice was muffled, with a heavy nasal tone, “Let’s make up.”
