Chapter 172 Jealousy is like a mad dog guarding its food
The figure drew closer and closer.
In my field of vision, I saw Lu Rang's somewhat cold expression.
What's the meaning?
Should I chase after her and break up with her?
Shang Wu suddenly took a step back and stepped on a floor tile that was missing half of its surface.
The two greeters couldn't support her, but Lu Rangxian quickly grabbed her arm.
"Be careful." Lu Rang looked down and stared intently at her.
This time, Shang Wu avoided his gaze and stammered, "Why, why are you here?"
Upon seeing this, the two greeters silently withdrew.
Lu Rang didn't answer, but pulled her directly into the hotel.
Inside the elevator, there were staff members helping to press the floor buttons, and a couple in love kissing passionately, regardless of the occasion.
Shang Wu stood beside Lu Rang, unsure where to look.
Once inside the room and with the lights on, she found another pair of disposable slippers and placed them in front of Lu Rang.
He almost tripped over Lu Rang again when he looked down.
Lu Rang helped her up.
Perhaps because she was slightly tipsy, Shang Wu noticed that Lu Rang's gaze was very unusual, as if he was holding something back.
Lu Rang asked in a low voice, "Why haven't you replied to my messages?"
"I told you before takeoff that I had to go on a business trip because of an urgent matter. I've been very busy these days, attending dozens of meetings, big and small."
"What about tonight? You should be free to call me tonight, right?"
"I was so tired last night that I just collapsed and fell asleep. If you don't believe me, ask Aying. She's been handling all the company's affairs for me these past few days. I haven't even contacted her."
After Shang Wu finished speaking, she stood at attention in front of Lu Rang, looking down at their very close toes.
Lu Rang smiled enigmatically: "You've even thought of how to answer this in advance."
Shang Wu gazed at him with hazy eyes.
"You just don't want to contact me, do you?" Lu Rang leaned against the door, still half a head taller than her, and slowly loosened his tie.
Shang Wu stiffened slightly, knowing there was no way to avoid it, so she simply brought it up.
"Yes, I'm deliberately avoiding you. The business dealings have all been exposed online and by the media. I don't know how to face you, and I'm afraid you'll break up with me."
Lu Rang tore off his tie, took off his coat, and went inside.
Are you afraid I'll break up with you?
"Um."
Shang Wu paused, not wanting to burden him, and quickly added, "I am afraid, but I respect your decision. So, if... if you can't bear such a blow, if you can't get over that hurdle in your heart, you can break up with me."
"I respect all your choices. As long as you feel better, it doesn't matter if we break up."
After she finished speaking, the room fell completely silent.
Lu Rang sat on the sofa and opened a bottle of wine.
Shang Wu was taken aback, then quickly walked over: "You can't drink alcohol."
As soon as she approached, Lu Rang, like a hunter casting bait, seized the opportunity to pull her to the inside of the sofa and flipped her over onto it.
His eyes were dark and deep, brewing a storm of uncertainty.
"Then let's break up. I really can't get over it."
As the deep voice fell, Shang Wu felt a pang in her heart and her eyes burned intensely.
A flood of emotions welled up inside me.
She struggled to hold back her rapid breathing and blinked slowly: "Okay."
Lu Rang narrowed his eyes dangerously: "From now on, we'll be strangers. Never contact each other again."
Shang Wu nodded, too distressed to speak.
Both are fine.
Anyway, she had been anticipating this worst-case scenario.
Rather than pretending not to know anything and watching Lu Rang try his best to overcome those heavy memories and be with her, it's better to part ways amicably.
As long as Lu Rang can have an easier life.
Lu Rang held Shang Wu's wrist, stared at her for a moment, and then stood up.
"Then come with me and pack your things to go back. We'll break off our engagement and officially announce our separation."
Without saying a word, Shang Wu got up and started packing her luggage.
Lu Rang finally lost his temper, pulled her back, pinched her chin, and gritted his teeth: "You're so indifferent to breaking up with me, aren't you?"
"No, I have something to say..."
"Who was it that wanted to marry me three days ago while looking at wedding dresses?" Lu Rang interrupted her, his voice carrying a dangerous undertone. "Who was it that said they would always be with me? Now you're saying you don't want me anymore? Is it fun to start something and then abandon it?"
Shang Wu's breathing faltered slightly, and she stared at him blankly without saying a word.
Lu Rang released her: "Don't you have anything to say?"
Shang Wu nodded.
Lu Rang looked down at her and said, "Speak."
"Drinking really does seem to cause problems, I don't even know what to say anymore." Shang Wu was dizzy.
Lu Rang laughed angrily and straightened up: "Then I'm leaving. Anyway, you don't plan to want me anymore. It's a waste of your time to come here and hide from me."
After saying that, he turned and left.
"Wait a minute, Lu Rang!"
Shang Wu chased after him, grabbed his hand from behind, her breath slightly ragged, and a hint of confusion in her eyes.
"Lu Rang, you don't mind what happened in the past, are you still willing to be with me?"
She walked up to Lu Rang, looked up, and stared directly into his eyes.
"When you look at my face and into my eyes, do you really not think of my birth mother, or those things from the past?"
Lu Rang pursed his lips, his expression darkening: "I get upset when I think about the past."
Shang Wu's heart sank.
“But I will try not to think about these things. You and your mother are not the same kind of people. You just happen to be her daughter. I believe that even if my mother were still alive, she would accept you unconditionally. I believe that one day I will reconcile with all of this.”
Lu Rang stared intently at Shang Wu, his breath catching in his throat.
"So, are you willing to overcome these difficulties with me and move forward together?"
Shang Wu was breathing rapidly and couldn't speak.
She was drunk and somewhat disoriented, unaware of what would happen next or where their relationship would lead.
But as Lu Rang said, they just need to work hard to overcome the difficulties they encounter.
They were in love.
Their relationship has endless possibilities.
"You're not avoiding me anymore?" Lu Rang pressed.
Shang Wu shook her head: "No...no, I didn't hide."
"Being stubborn will be punished."
Lu Rang raised an eyebrow slightly, the implication clear.
Shang Wu blushed slightly: "Now?"
Lu Rang picked her up and carried her towards the bathroom...
...
Once in bed, Shang Wu realized that Lu Rang was still angry and was giving her a hard time.
When she woke up the next day, her back was so weak that she almost couldn't get up. When she opened her eyes, all she saw was Lu Rang's coat hanging there, but he was nowhere to be seen.
Shang Wu rubbed her eyes, got dressed, and went out to look for someone.
Before she could find Lu Rang, she spotted a familiar car at the hotel entrance.
Shang Wu looked closely and was a little puzzled.
That was the car that brought her back last night.
Is Chen Chunzhi here?
She subconsciously looked around, and suddenly someone tapped her on the shoulder from behind.
"Mr. Shang! You weren't looking for me, were you?"
Shang Wu turned around and saw Chen Chunzhi's enlarged, radiant smiling face, and breathed a sigh of relief.
"I saw your car and knew you were here. What brings you here?"
Chen Chunzhi handed her a breakfast package in a brown paper bag, which smelled of bread.
“It just so happens that a friend of mine is also here on vacation and is staying at the same hotel as you. I thought you had to catch a flight back today and didn’t have time for breakfast, so I brought you a famous local sandwich.”
Shang Wu took it and smiled politely at him: "Thank you, you're so thoughtful."
"You're welcome." Chen Chunzhi touched his nose, seemingly wanting to say something but then stopping himself.
Shang Wu asked curiously, "What's wrong?"
Chen Chunzhi put his hands in his pockets and smiled, "Um, I just wanted to ask you, are you single right now..."
Before she could finish speaking, a man suddenly appeared beside Shang Wu.
Lu Rang stood beside Shang Wu with his arms crossed and a cold expression on his face.
At first glance, it looks like they're about to fight.
Chen Chunzhi was taken aback by his superior appearance, but when he saw his intimidating gaze, he took a step back with some apprehension.
"And this is...?"
Shang Wu glanced at Lu Rang beside her and breathed a sigh of relief.
"He is my fiancé."
She opened the brown paper bag, saw two sandwiches inside, and smiled at Chen Chunzhi.
"Would you mind if I shared some with my fiancé?"
Chen Chunzhi's expression immediately soured, and he forced a smile.
"No, I don't mind."
Shang Wu nodded: "Then I won't disturb your appointment with your friends. Let's go up first, and see you when we sign the contract back in China."
Chen Chunzhi nodded in agreement.
The two walked two steps side by side, then Lu Rang stopped.
"You go up first, I'll go buy you some drinks."
Shang Wu agreed and went into the elevator.
After she left, Lu Rang immediately turned around and stopped Chen Chun before he got into the car.
Chen Chunzhi almost placed his hand on the spot where Lu Rang was blocking the car door, but pulled it back as if he had been electrocuted, and asked inexplicably, "What, what are you doing?"
Lu Rang asked expressionlessly, "Didn't you come here to see a friend?"
Chen Chunzhi was even more baffled: "What does this have to do with you?"
"Don't even think about it," Lu Rang warned coldly.
As a fellow man, he immediately saw through Chen Chunzhi's intentions.
Chen Chunzhi frowned. He had never seen Lu Rang act so aggressively before. He was like a mad dog guarding its food, extremely fierce.
He scoffed lightly, a surge of defiance rising within him.
"You're her fiancé now, so you should feel very secure and wouldn't be so hostile towards her admirers!"
Chen Chunzhi raised an eyebrow: "Or is it that you've also realized that Miss Shang doesn't like you that much, or that you're afraid because I'm a fellow man and a strong competitor?"
Lu Rang narrowed his eyes: "Even if flies don't bite, they can still be annoying, understand?"
"You can try what happens if you covet my woman."
He slammed the car door shut and turned to leave.
Once everyone had gone far away, Chen Chunzhi suddenly came to his senses and immediately flew into a rage.
"What nonsense are you spouting! Who are you calling a fly!"
Inside the car, the driver timidly poked his head out and looked at him.
"Young Master Chen, it seems he's insulting you."
Chen Chunzhi maintained his smile: "Do you think I can't tell? Do you think I'm mentally challenged?"
The driver silently shrank back.
Chen Chunzhi put his hands on his hips and snorted angrily.
"I refuse to believe it! I'm more charming than him! He came over to warn me, but I'm going to show him my charm. I'm determined to steal him away!!"
The driver sighed.
You can't stop someone from courting death.
