Chapter 280 Lure the snake out of its hole

Chapter 280 Lure the snake out of its hole

"Remember what you said." Shang Wu glanced at her coldly, no longer looking at the disheveled woman, and turned to give Lu Rang a wink.

They walked out of the bedroom together, leaving Li Li, who was limp on the floor, alone in the room.

Once in the study and behind closed door, Lu Rang could no longer suppress his murderous intent.

"I shouldn't have just ruined his reputation in the first place."

His eyes were sinister and terrifying; it was unimaginable what would have happened if Shang Wu hadn't been alert, or if Lu You hadn't noticed the clues in time.

"Awu, we can't keep this woman around any longer. She's too dangerous. I have to get rid of her immediately!"

Lu Rang turned around, his tone resolute and unwavering.

He must eradicate any potential threat completely.

"Lu Rang, calm down."

Although Shang Wu was also terrified, she was more clear-headed than Lu Rang at this moment. "Dealing with Li Li now will only alert him. Wang Yun is in the dark, while we are in the light. If we fail this time, he will come up with other ways. We will be unable to guard against him."

She walked to Lu Rang's side, grasped his white-knuckled hand, and said in a steady voice, "Why don't we turn the tables and make Li Li work for us? She's a scaredy-cat right now, and she won't dare disobey us in order to protect herself."

Through her, we can find out Wang Yun's movements and even obtain evidence that he ordered the assault.

Only when we thoroughly expose him and send him to prison can we truly feel at ease.

Looking into Shang Wu's calm eyes, Lu Rang's violent temper subsided slightly.

He knew Shang Wu was right; to nip the problem in the bud, one must eliminate it completely.

But allowing such a treacherous person to continue staying by Shang Wu's side, even if it's just an act, is something he finds hard to tolerate.

“But your safety…” Lu Rang frowned, full of worry.

“I will be extra careful. As for the food, I will have Aying take charge of it herself, or have a nanny we trust handle it. Li Li will no longer be able to touch the core. She only needs to act and spread false information.”

Shang Wu had already thought of a solution. "Besides, aren't you here? You'll protect me and the baby, right?"

Her trusting gaze was like a clear spring, extinguishing the last restlessness in Lu Rang's heart.

He took a deep breath, gripped her hand tightly in return, and finally nodded with difficulty.

"Okay, we'll do it your way, but you have to promise me that you'll never be alone with her under any circumstances, and if anything seems amiss, tell me immediately."

"I promise you," Shang Wu solemnly promised.

After calming Lu Rang down, Shang Wu immediately called Lu You.

The first thing she said when the call connected was, "Sister, thank you."

Lu You on the other end of the phone paused for a moment: "Thank me for what? What's wrong, A-Wu? Is it that Li Li...?"

"Yes." Shang Wu told Lu You everything that had just happened.

Lu You gasped in shock on the other end of the phone, followed by barely suppressed rage.

"That bastard Wang Yun! How dare he! I won't let him get away with this!"

She paused, her tone shifting to one of lingering fear and relief, "Thank goodness you and the baby are alright."

"Why thank me? It was just a lucky accident. It's mainly because you were alert enough. Don't worry, leave the investigation of that Wang guy to me and Cheng Zhou. We'll dig three feet into the ground to find him!"

The next day, before they could take any further steps, there was a knock on the study door.

Aying nervously announced from outside the door, "Sir, Madam, the master has arrived. He looks very unwell and has gone straight upstairs."

Lu Zheng is here? The news spread so fast?

Shang Wu and Lu Rang exchanged a glance. As soon as they opened the study door, they saw Lu Zheng walking over with a stern face and brisk steps.

Cheng Zhou, looking worried, followed behind him.

It was clearly him who notified Lu Zheng.

"Dad, what brings you here?" Lu Rang greeted him.

Lu Zheng ignored him and looked directly at Shang Wu with urgency.

"Awu! Are you alright? How's the baby?"

He received an extremely urgent call from Cheng Zhou, saying that something terrible had happened to Shang Wu and that someone might be trying to harm her and her child. He immediately put aside all his affairs with the Yu family and rushed over without stopping.

"Dad, I'm fine, the baby is doing well, don't worry," Shang Wu quickly reassured him.

Lu Zheng breathed a slight sigh of relief, then his face darkened, and his sharp gaze swept over Lu Rang, filled with undisguised rebuke.

"Lu Rang! How did you take care of A-Wu?! How could you let such a treacherous person infiltrate your circle! And almost... if A-Wu hadn't discovered it herself, the consequences would have been unimaginable! You have disappointed me greatly!"

Lu Rang pursed his lips and quietly clenched his hands at his sides.

It was indeed his oversight that caused this, and he had nothing to say about it.

"Please don't blame Lu Rang." Upon seeing this, Shang Wu immediately stepped forward and explained softly, "No one wanted this to happen. The other party was scheming and disguised it so well that it was impossible to guard against."

Lu had already been very careful with me, and he had always taken meticulous care of me.

Moreover, it was because he personally went to get tested immediately and stayed by our side the whole time to retrieve the results that we were able to discover the problem so quickly.

She looked at Lu Rang with eyes full of trust.

“After what happened, Lu Rang feels more guilty and more frightened than anyone else. Our most important task now is to find the mastermind behind this, not to blame each other. Dad, don’t you agree?”

Lu Zheng's anger subsided considerably, but his eyes still held a hint of shock and rage. He sighed and softened his tone.

“Awu is right, now is not the time to assign blame.”

He pondered for a moment and made a decision: "Here's what we'll do, A-Wu, you'll come back to the Yu family's old house with me right now. The security there is tight, and the servants are all long-time employees. We know them well, so it's absolutely safe. You can come back after things here are completely resolved."

Back to the Yu family?

Shang Wu was stunned for a moment, and subconsciously looked at Lu Rang.

Lu Rang also frowned.

"There's no need for such a big fuss," Shang Wu politely declined. "My pregnancy is now stable, and we already have a plan in place."

If I suddenly moved to the Yu family's house now, it would only arouse Wang Yun's suspicion and alert him. Lu Rang and I will strengthen security here and be more careful. Rest assured, we won't joke around with the baby's safety.”

Seeing that Shang Wu had made up her mind, Lu Zheng knew that she was very opinionated.

He sighed, unable to persuade her otherwise, and had no choice but to compromise: "Alright, since you insist, but you must promise me that you will call me every day to let me know you are safe, and if there is any disturbance, you must tell me immediately! I will send more people to protect you from the shadows."

"Thank you." Shang Wu smiled gratefully.

Lu Zheng gave Lu Rang a few more stern instructions before leaving with a worried expression.

After seeing Lu Zheng off, Cheng Zhou stayed behind and discussed the next steps of the plan with Lu Rang and Shang Wu in detail.

As night deepened, the villa appeared calm on the surface, but undercurrents were already surging.

Shang Wu stroked her slightly protruding belly, feeling the vitality of the little life inside, her eyes firm and calm.

No matter what storms lie ahead, she will never back down in order to protect her family and her children.

Lu Rang recalled the unquestionable order Lu Zheng gave when he left.

"Two days, Lu Rang. I'm giving you two days at most! You must drag this rat hiding in the gutter out of my sight! If you can't find out, you'll come back and check out the docks!"

After seeing his father and Cheng Zhou off, the atmosphere in the study was so heavy it could be squeezed out of you.

Lu Rang stood by the window, gazing at the deep night outside. His back was straight, yet exuded a chilling aura.

Shang Wu sat quietly on the sofa, not disturbing him, knowing that he was rapidly formulating a plan in his mind.

A moment later, Lu Rang turned around, his eyes regaining their usual calm and sharpness.

Beneath his calm exterior, a chilling aura surged within him.

He walked to his desk, pressed the internal phone button, and spoke in a calm, even voice.

"Aying, have Li Li come to the study now."

Within two minutes, Li Li appeared nervously at the study door.

Her face was pale, her eyes darted away, and she dared not look directly at Lu Rang and Shang Wu.

After the confrontation, she fully understood her situation and realized that she had no choice but to cooperate.

"Mr. Lu, Mrs. Lu," she greeted them in a weak voice.

Lu Rang didn't waste any words and directly gave the order: "You, now, contact the person behind you immediately."

Li Li's body trembled, and she subconsciously asked, "Contact him... What should I say?"

Lu Rang's eyes were sharp as he explained, word by word, "Tell him that Shang Wu suffered a sudden and severe abdominal pain after accidentally eating something unclean. She has been taken to the hospital, but despite her efforts, the baby could not be saved."

Shang Wu sat to the side, and when she heard Lu Rang's words, her heart still ached. She subconsciously touched her lower abdomen and felt the real fetal movement inside, which made her feel a little more at ease.

Li Li was clearly surprised that Lu Rang would ask her to pass on such false information. She was stunned for a moment before realizing that this was an attempt to lure the other party into a trap.

She nodded quickly: "Okay, okay, I understand."

"Use your phone, put it on speakerphone, and make the call right here," Lu Rang ordered.

He wanted to hear the other person's reaction with his own ears.

Li Li didn't dare to delay. She took out her phone, her fingers trembling as she found the number without a saved name. She took a deep breath, pressed the dial button, and turned on speakerphone.

"Beep...beep..."

The waiting sound seemed to stretch on endlessly in the quiet study.

After a few rings, the call was answered, and a male voice with a hint of laziness and impatience came from the other end: "Hello? What's up?"

It was Wang Yun's voice.

Lu Rang and Shang Wu exchanged a glance, both receiving confirmation from each other's eyes.
