Chapter 69 Her People Are Not Honest

Chapter 69 Her men are not being honest.

Upon seeing that it was a call from the branch office, Shang Wu immediately stood up.

"Mom and Dad, you should get some rest. I still have to go to the company."

After saying that, she left in a hurry.

When she arrived at the company, several branch employees gathered together and handed her the documents with solemn expressions.

"Take a look at this. Our branch has been reported for allegedly falsifying accounts and evading taxes in two projects."

Shang Wu's heart sank. She took the document, opened it, and placed it back on the table.

"Isn't this a project that hasn't even started yet? It hasn't even reached the point of submitting a budget, so these amounts aren't real. How can it be considered falsifying accounts to evade taxes?"

The staff member shrugged: "But someone labeled this document as a real project of our branch and submitted it to the supervisory department to report us. The person in charge of the investigation just left, and it took us a lot of effort to explain the problem clearly."

Shang Wu paused slightly, "The most crucial question now is, who compiled and leaked this project information?"

She turned and sat down at the table, saying casually, "If you suspect anyone, just say so and produce the evidence directly. Don't speculate among yourselves and cause internal discord."

The two staff members exchanged a glance, surprised that Shang Wu knew what they were about to say.

"Yes, we all suspect that someone inside is deliberately sabotaging us."

Shang Wu was about to pick up the coffee candy on the table when she heard this, her fingertips froze, and she withdrew them.

She looked up at them.

Who are you talking about?

Staff member: "Attorney Lu."

Shang Wu's eyes darkened slightly: "He has no connection with the finance department, and this thing couldn't possibly have passed through his hands, so why is he involved?"

The group started to get anxious.

“I have evidence!” A staff member from the finance department stepped forward. “I ran into Attorney Lu before and gave him these financial statements, asking him to pass them on to Assistant Aying.”

“Attorney Lu had only a brief ten minutes to take over the case. During that time, if he intended to obtain this evidence, it would have been easy for him to report us!”

Shang Wu still held onto the coffee candy and slowly peeled it open.

“We’re all on the same side here, except for Attorney Lu, who came from Dingfeng. It’s normal for Lu to do something like this, betraying his own people, just to get revenge on Jinshui. Maybe he was infiltrated from the beginning.”

“I’ve already checked Attorney Lu’s resume. He’s a true legal genius. Someone like him would have dozens of big cases coming his way every day. Why would he come to our branch to be a free legal advisor instead of being based at his own firm?”

"Although he makes a lot of money, it's not as much as he does from taking on a single case, is it? This whole thing seems abnormal!"

After listening to their words, Shang Wu put the candy in her mouth, and the bittersweet taste spread in her mouth.

"I will investigate thoroughly. You should all go back now."

Upon hearing this, everyone became somewhat anxious.

But under Shang Wu's calm gaze, the group dared not say anything more and all left one after another.

Shang Wu lowered her eyes and stared thoughtfully at the documents on the table.

Aying watched her from the side and hesitated before asking, "Does President Shang trust Attorney Lu?"

Shang Wu looked at her with a half-smile.

"No one can be trusted before the matter is thoroughly investigated, but haven't you considered this?"

Aying blinked and asked curiously, "What is it?"

“This branch is mine now. If Lu Rang wants to target Chengzhou, he should go after headquarters. Why does he have to target my branch?”

"You mean, our internal staff suspected something wrong? But they also said that this document only passed through Lu Rang, an outsider." Aying couldn't understand.

“That means there’s a mole in our finance department.” Shang Wu raised an eyebrow.

Aying suddenly realized what was going on and was about to speak when Shang Wu made a shushing gesture in front of her and got up to head to the finance department.

Two employees from the finance department are chatting.

"Do you think Miss will make a move against that man this time? She seems to have a pretty good relationship with Attorney Lu."

"Attorney Lu is quite favored by the young lady. I really don't know if what I did this time was right or wrong..."

"But legal counsel is easy to find. If one leaves, there are plenty more waiting for Miss to choose from. We'll just take a little money and do a little work, which won't cause any loss to the company. We just want Attorney Lu to pack his bags and leave. It shouldn't have any impact, right?"

Shang Wu stood outside the door and heard these words clearly.

Her eyes flickered for a moment, then she pushed the door open and went inside.

"Don't you think doing this has caused any trouble for the company?"

The two employees were trembling with fear, and their faces turned pale when they saw Shang Wu there.

“Once the company has a violation record, don’t expect to have an easy time in the future. The supervisory committee will conduct a special investigation into the company. You can just watch as the company’s approval process is three days later than other companies!” Shang Wu slammed the table, her voice sharp and biting, like a chilling wind that could hurt people.

The two employees were so frightened that they trembled and quickly lowered their heads.

"We...we were confused for a moment. We thought Attorney Lu had ulterior motives in our company, so..."

"Come on!"

Shang Wu interrupted them and rubbed her temples.

She gets a headache whenever she gets angry, and she takes deep breaths to calm herself down.

“Lu Rang is someone I personally brought in. The trust between us is very important. No one is allowed to wrong him again! You are long-time employees of the business, so I won’t fire you, but you will be given a six-month probationary period.”

The two had nothing to say to each other and lowered their heads.

"Also, tell me who instigated you to do this." Shang Wu glanced at them.

With the brains of those two veteran employees in the finance department, they would never have thought of such a treacherous scheme.

Someone must be deliberately interfering and trying to sow discord between them.

She needs to know who it is and eliminate this cancer quickly and decisively.

The two looked somewhat shocked, not expecting Shang Wu to be so perceptive as to guess that someone was deliberately causing trouble behind the scenes.

One of them tremblingly uttered his name.

After hearing this, Shang Wu turned and left, heading directly to Dingfeng Law Firm.

Upon arrival, she pushed open the office door and went inside.

Lu Rang was sitting at the table looking at the case, and didn't even look up when he heard the sound.

"Yan Yue, if you don't know how to knock on the door with your hands, you might as well chop them off."

Shang Wu pulled out a chair and sat directly opposite him, emanating a chill from the outside.

Zhou Yanci then looked up at her, the coldness in her eyes vanishing without a trace when she saw the person in front of her clearly.

He raised an eyebrow: "What brings you here?"

"Do you know Lu Wuwei?" Shang Wu picked up a steaming cup of coffee from the table. "Never had it before?"

Lu Rang nodded subconsciously.

Shang Wu then drank it directly.

Lu Rang's eyes darkened slightly: "I haven't finished speaking yet. That's my cup."

Shang Wu put down her coffee cup, noticed the obvious lipstick stain on the rim, and coughed awkwardly.

"I'm sorry, please get a new one."

Lu Rang ignored her, then noticed her expression was off. "Did you just mention Lu Wuwei?"

Shang Wu nodded: "Who exactly is this? He's been instigating the branch employees to target you and try to get rid of you. They both have the surname Lu, so he's not some relative of yours, is he?"

Lu Rang's eyes darkened, and he said indifferently, "He's not a relative. He works at Jinshui Law Firm, and he's one of its members."

"No wonder he suddenly targeted you. It seems Zhou Yanci doesn't like you. Have you had any conflicts with him recently?" Shang Wu asked.

Zhou Yanci was in a hurry to deal with the matter of the Sleeping One, so it was definitely not because of a trivial matter that she noticed Lu Rang at this time.

Lu Rang stared at Shang Wu and thought about it seriously.

“I offended him at the company gate.”

"At the company entrance?" Shang Wu blinked. "What's wrong?"

Lu Rang said calmly, "Zhou Yanci warned me not to covet someone I can't have. You'll marry him sooner or later."

Lu Rang crossed his arms and leaned back in his seat in a somewhat casual manner.

"Is that so?" he asked.

Shang Wu was taken aback, her gaze hardening.

“I will not marry him. He is my enemy. You know the answer to that question.”

Lu Rang: "Yes, I knew you wouldn't marry him, so I told him that someone like him who can't control his lower body should deal with the mess around him first."

Shang Wu was stunned for a moment, then leaned over and leaned on the table, smiling as she looked at him.

"I never expected that Attorney Lu, who usually seems so well-mannered, could be so scathing in his insults."

Lu Rang glanced down at her and asked in a low voice, "For whom is this?"

Shang Wu blinked. "Is it alright if you do it for me? Thank you, Attorney Lu, for standing up for me. But is he really going to target you because of those two sentences?"

Lu Rang's expression was somewhat subtle.

He unlocked his phone and said casually, "He also said he could tell that I have other feelings for you."

Shang Wu had just taken another sip of coffee when he heard this, and he choked on it, coughing violently.

Lu Rang handed over a tissue and said calmly, "I will deal with Lu Wuwei."

Shang Wu gave him a strange look, and after meeting his gaze, she felt inexplicably uncomfortable.

She stepped back: "I'll do it. If he wants you to leave me, I have to make him disappear first."

She got up to leave.

Lu Rang said unhurriedly from behind, "You helped me deal with him, so naturally I have to repay you. I heard that you were called in by the Zhou family and made things difficult for them?"

"It's not that you're making things difficult for me, it's that you're just trying to disgust me. What, are you going to disgust the Zhou family for me?" Shang Wu turned around and looked at him curiously.

Lu Rang said in a low voice, "Zhou Yanci's mother went around looking for people to buy a kind of dandelion. She said it was left behind by an old Chinese medicine doctor many years ago. There are only three of them in the world. It's very effective in treating headaches. The medicine is with me. You can decide what to do with it yourself."

He placed the item in Shang Wu's palm, then closed his large hand around it, enveloping Shang Wu's hand as well.

Shang Wu pressed the back of her hand against his burning palm, surprised, and looked up at him.

"Did you already plan to help me out?"

Lu Rang didn't deny it, but gave a half-smile: "Yes."

Shang Wu didn't expect him to admit it so readily.

She lowered her eyes, avoiding looking at Lu Rang: "Thank you."

Lu Rang reached out and lifted her chin: "Look at me before you speak."

Shang Wu met his clear, piercing gaze, and parted her red lips slightly: "Thank you, Lu Rang."

No sooner had he finished speaking than Zhou Yanci suddenly called.

Shang Wu woke up with a start, slapped Lu Rang's hand away, and answered the call.

"Awu, there's something wrong with that lawyer Lu next to you!"

Shang Wu paused, looking at Lu Rang's calm expression: "Is there a problem?"

"You'll know when you get here," Zhou said, feigning mystery.

Shang Wu was impatient and wanted to leave.

Lu Rang frowned slightly, grabbed her arm, and shook his head silently.

Don't go.

If you know it's slanderous lies, then don't go.

Shang Wu understood what he meant.

She paused: "If Lu Rang has any problems, send the evidence to my email. I'm very busy right now. Zhou Yanci, don't bother me unless it's important."

Shang Wu hung up immediately, annoyed. "What's wrong this time?"

As soon as she finished speaking, her email account buzzed.

Shang Wu glanced at Lu Rang and clicked on it.
