Lin Sui's heart was touched by Zhou Dang. She looked at the man before her, thinking about how they had spent five years together. He was the only man besides Qin Chen who had been in her life for that long. He was also the man who had offered her a helping hand when she was most helpless. Regardless of whether he had threatened her before, his help could not be ignored.
"Zhou Dang, thank you." Lin Sui thanked Zhou Dang solemnly.
Zhou Dang was stunned for a moment, then stood up and touched Lin Sui's forehead. "You don't have a fever, why are you talking nonsense?"
"Are you sick?" Lin Sui rolled his eyes at Zhou Dang.
"That's you." Zhou Dang smiled in a way that made him want a beating.
Lin Sui really didn't have the energy to joke with Zhou Dang. She was so weak that she fell asleep soon. Zhou Dang sat by her bed, watching over her silently.
In the morning, after the doctor made rounds and confirmed that Lin Sui was fine, Zhou Dang breathed a sigh of relief and sent Lin Sui back home. He asked the driver to buy a bunch of imported fruits and vegetables to fill Lin Sui's refrigerator. "You're pregnant, eat something good. Don't let the child suffer with you."
Lin Sui snorted, "Stop pretending to be nice. If I didn't have to pay off my debt to you, would I be living like this?"
Zhou Dang smiled, "Stop slandering me. I can tell you right now that as long as you come back to me, all our scores will be settled."
Lin Sui was stunned for a moment. She had never expected Zhou Dang to say that. She was silent for a moment, not knowing how to respond.
"Don't rush to agree, you can think about it."
Zhou Dang looked at Lin Sui's overflowing refrigerator and said, "How about I call an aunt to make three meals for you? She'll make them for you when you go to work and put them in the refrigerator so you can take them with you?"
Lin Sui pursed her lips and had to admit that she was moved.
"It's settled." Zhou Dang knew Lin Sui too well. He knew what she wanted just by looking at her expression.
"Just lie down. I'll make you some porridge." Zhou Dang pushed Lin Sui's back and led her to the bedroom. Then he turned and went to the kitchen, put on Lin Sui's apron, and started to cook porridge.
Lin Sui lay on the bed, silently shedding tears. It wasn't that she wasn't moved. She didn't know what she was thinking, why she was so stubborn and didn't want to get back together with Zhou Dang.
Even after she discovered that she had a crush on Zhou Dang, she still didn't want to get back together with him. She thought that she probably had a strong force that kept her going in front of Zhou Dang, and that was to avoid being looked down upon by him.
When they first met Zhou Dang, he thought she would definitely fall in love with him, but she stopped trying to show him that she would definitely not fall in love with him; after they got married, he thought she would definitely submit to him and live a good life with him, but she insisted on calculating every penny with him and saved money every day to pay him back; now, she tried every means to leave him and get back together with Qin Chen, but they broke up again so soon. He must have thought that she would come back to him soon, but she didn't, and stopped trying to develop a relationship with Gu Yuan.
But now, this momentum has subsided...
After Zhou Dang finished cooking the porridge, he brought it to Lin Sui's bedside. He couldn't do such a thing as feeding Lin Sui, so he just put it on the cabinet beside the bed and let her eat it by herself. Then he got up and went home. Lin Sui silently looked at his back and did not try to keep him.
Zhou Dang stayed up all night and went straight back to the villa. Aunt Wang had just prepared breakfast. He washed his hands and sat directly at the dining table. When Wen Yue came downstairs, she was shocked to see him.
Zhou Dang raised an eyebrow, "Why, you don't recognize your husband?"
Wen Yue smiled and said, "I just didn't expect you to come back so early."
"I stayed up all night last night because of something, and now I'm so sleepy. After dinner, I'll go upstairs to catch up on my sleep." Zhou Dang drank a few mouthfuls of oatmeal porridge, ate a piece of toast, took a sip of orange juice, and hurried upstairs.
He took a quick shower, fell onto the bed and fell into a deep sleep. He had to admit that he might be really old and couldn't stay up late.
Wen Yue's mood brightened with Zhou Dang's return. She hummed a song while arranging flowers downstairs. The thought of Zhou Dang sleeping in their shared bed lifted her spirits. Seeing the smile on Wen Yue's face, Wang Ma also felt happy and busied herself in the kitchen, preparing Zhou Dang's favorite dishes.
After arranging the flowers, Wen Yue took a picture and sent it to her small group of sisters. Yunjuan and Yunshu could see that she was in a good mood today and asked her if there was any good news. Yunshu was even more direct and asked her if she was pregnant.
Wen Yue felt embarrassed when asked, so she quickly replied in the group.
Wen Yue: Isn’t it okay to just be in a good mood? Can you please not link my mood to Zhou Dang?
Yunshu: Isn’t that the truth?
Wenyue:......
Wen Yue wanted to say no, but she couldn't seem to refute it. She unconsciously glanced at her belly. It had been almost three months since she got married, and how come there was still no movement? She remembered her mother asking her to take Zhou Dang for a pregnancy checkup, but she had never been able to tell Zhou Dang.
Zhou Dang slept until the afternoon. Wang Ma had cooked a table full of dishes. Wen Yue hadn't eaten lunch yet, so she was waiting for him to have dinner. Zhou Dang, dressed in dark blue silk pajamas, casually went downstairs. Seeing Wen Yue, dressed in a creamy white housedress, crouching like a little bunny in front of the Christmas tree, he noticed that a huge Christmas tree had been placed in the corner of the living room at some point, with a colorful ladder next to it, presumably for Wen Yue to decorate the tree.
When Wen Yue saw Zhou Dang, her eyes smiled into two small crescent moons. She jumped forward and hugged Zhou Dang. Zhou Dang also smiled. He hugged Wen Yue with one hand and rubbed Wen Yue's head with the other hand.
The two hugged each other for a long time before going to eat together. Zhou Dang looked at the table full of dishes and smiled.
"Auntie Wang, I remember it's not Chinese New Year today, right?"
Wang Ma wiped her hands and replied with a smile, "It's rare for the master to be home all day. The mistress is happy, and so am I. When I'm happy, I do a little more."
Zhou Dang smiled as he took his seat. Wen Yue didn't sit across from him today, but sat next to him. Their chairs were tightly pressed together. Wen Yue chattered away, sharing with Zhou Dang the recent fun happenings of her friends. Zhou Dang listened with a smile. He'd had a good sleep and was in a good mood. He thought Wen Yue's chirping was like a little bird, quite adorable.
"By the way, I want to hold a party at our house on Christmas Day. What do you think?" Wen Yue turned her head and asked Zhou Dang with shining eyes.
"Sure." Zhou Dang answered straightforwardly.
"Then don't forget to come back. I'm going to invite everyone I know over so we can have some fun together, hehe."
