Lin Sui felt something wrong with her stomach in the morning. The pain was very similar to the first day of her period. She picked up her phone, opened the app and started counting her contractions. Zhou Dang was sleeping soundly beside her. She was too lazy to call him because he didn't know how to do anything and would just take her to the hospital as soon as possible.
She was afraid it was a contraction, so she kept counting. At first, the contractions were irregular, but later her stomach became more and more painful and the contractions became more and more regular, so she pushed Zhou Dang awake.
"Zhou Dang, I seem to be giving birth."
Zhou Dang jumped up and asked her if she had any bleeding or her water broke.
"None of that, but I've started to have regular contractions." Lin Sui was secretly surprised that Zhou Dang also knew about spotting and water breaking.
"Okay, I'll get the delivery bag, and then we'll go to the hospital." Unexpectedly, Zhou Dang did not panic, he was very calm and composed.
After Lin Sui changed her clothes, she boarded Zhou Dang's car and headed straight to the hospital. It was a little after five in the morning, and the road was clear. Lin Sui's stomach ached more and more, and she was sweating profusely. She kept taking deep breaths to calm herself down.
After arriving at the hospital, doctors and nurses were waiting at the hospital entrance. Lin Sui sat in the wheelchair they pushed over and went straight for a check-up. The check-up was shocking; she was already two fingers dilated.
"Hurry up and move to the delivery room, and prepare for the epidural."
Lin Sui gritted her teeth, feeling in great pain, and arrived at the delivery room where the anesthesiologist was already waiting.
"Come, bend your body into the shape of a shrimp, and don't move. No matter how painful it is, don't move, because if you move you will be paralyzed."
Lin Sui did as she was told. When the needle entered her waist, she trembled uncontrollably, but she gritted her teeth and didn't let herself move. Zhou Dang stood by and watched Lin Sui suffer, feeling extremely anxious, but unable to help. He could only squat beside her, holding Lin Sui's hand and encouraging her.
Slowly, slowly, the painkiller started to take effect, and Lin Sui finally felt less pain. But then something else happened: she started vomiting. She hadn't had time to eat anything, and she vomited up all the acid in her stomach. The nurse said she was responding to the painkiller and that an antiemetic injection would be enough. After the injection, she did feel better.
However, Lin Sui began to feel sleepy. She seemed to have been knocked unconscious and could not wake up no matter how hard she tried. As she slept, she was sweating all over and had no strength at all.
When she woke up again, it was already three o'clock in the afternoon. Zhou Dang quickly asked her if she wanted to eat. She shook her head and had no appetite at all.
The doctor came to check on her and saw that she was already nine fingers dilated. "Get ready for delivery," he said, then took a cotton swab and broke her water.
Lin Sui was stunned. Damn, how could she be dilating even in her sleep? Because of the painkiller, she couldn't feel it at all.
There was really no other way. She had no strength in her body. She asked Zhou Dang to bring her the food. She took a few big bites, ate a few bites of meat, and then drank a few sips of functional drinks. She was ready to give birth.
The doctor asked her to put her feet on the footrest and taught her how to use her strength.
"Every time a contraction comes, you push. Got it?"
Lin Sui did it several times, but she gave up halfway each time because she couldn't feel the contractions at all. Although she could see the curves on the small TV, it was all in vain because she couldn't feel them herself.
"Please help me remove the epidural." Lin Sui said.
"Ah?" Zhou Dang was shocked. "Are you crazy? How painful must that be?"
"Yes, Ms. Lin, it will be very painful to remove the epidural. Why don't you just watch the small TV and slowly push yourself?" The doctor also said so.
"Let's withdraw. I don't have much strength left. The pain is just right. It allows me to exert the right strength."
Facts have proved that this choice was right. After the epidural was removed, Lin Sui finally felt the contractions. Every time a contraction came, she held her breath with all her strength, and veins bulged on her face.
Zhou Dang held Lin Sui's hand, his eyes were red. Lin Sui was forced to cry physiologically, and some of the veins on his forehead had broken, oozing out blood.
"Okay, okay, that's great, great." The doctor asked the nurse to wrap Lin Sui's body with the blue cloth used during surgery.
"It's coming out soon, keep trying!"
“Ah——————!” Lin Sui felt that the baby was about to come out, because she felt that her whole body was about to be burst. The pain she had never experienced before made her want to die, but she could not retreat. This feeling of being unable to go up or down made her collapse directly.
"Wuwuwu... I can't take it anymore, Zhou Dang, I can't take it anymore." Lin Sui cried.
"Sui Sui, Sui Sui, how about we do a cesarean section, okay?" Zhou Dang also cried.
"No, no, I won't have a caesarean section. I can do it, I can do it." Lin Sui refocused his distracted eyes, gritted his teeth and made a final effort.
"ah----!"
"It's out, it's out! Pull it back in, don't push hard, breathe out, breathe out."
“Ha…ha…ha…” Lin Sui did as he was told.
"Time, four thirty-seven! Boy!"
"Wow..." Following a cry, the doctor lifted up a little boy dressed in snow-white, who was crying with his mouth wide open.
"Dad, come and cut the umbilical cord!" The doctor handed Zhou Dang a pair of scissors.
Zhou Dang picked up the scissors and cut off the last connection between Lin Sui and the child.
"6.6 jin!" the nurse weighed the baby. "Let's take the baby to bathe." The nurse wrapped the child up.
"Zhou Dang, follow me, follow me, don't lose my son!" Lin Sui panicked.
"No, my mother and sister-in-law are here and waiting outside. They will follow." Zhou Dang held Lin Sui's hand and looked at her affectionately.
"Don't worry, the child will be washed here and won't go out." The doctor was stitching Lin Sui's wound. "It's a very minor tear. Two stitches will heal it." Lin Sui nodded.
"Here, come and see your mother." The nurse brought the child over. Lin Sui took a look at him and tears couldn't stop flowing down.
"He is so white." Lin Sui murmured to himself.
"Yeah, like you." Zhou Dang said, looking at the child.
"Come, let me take a picture of your family of three." The nurse picked up the camera and pointed it at Lin Sui.
"Do you need me to help you clean up?" Zhou Dang asked.
"No need, now is the most real."
The camera freezes at this moment of happiness for a family of three.
The child and Lin Sui were pushed back to the ward. Zhou's mother and sister-in-law were waiting there early. When Zhou's mother saw the child, she was so happy that she couldn't stop smiling.
"Oh, these eyes are exactly the same as Xiaodang's when he was a child. Let grandma hug you!"
Lin Sui was lying on the hospital bed. Zhou's mother and sister-in-law seemed to have not seen anything at all. They praised the child without even looking at Lin Sui.
"That's enough. Lin Sui still needs to rest. You guys can go back." Zhou Dang could sense that Lin Sui was unhappy.
