Lin Sui stared at Qin Chen, tears streaming down her face like beads from a broken string. She didn't know how to say it, to prove that she wanted a divorce and that her feelings for Qin Chen had never changed.
She couldn't prove it either.
After making a great decision, she sighed.
"Qin Chen, my father had leukemia back then, and our family had no money for treatment, so I became a barmaid. Later, I finally found a compatible bone marrow donor, but I didn't have the money for surgery. It just so happened that Zhou Dang was my barmaid, and he said he could marry me..."
Qin Chen frowned and held Lin Sui's shoulders tightly.
"What? What are you talking about? Isn't your father an engineer? How can your family be without money? You have good food and everything you need!"
Lin Sui smiled bitterly. She knew that one lie required countless lies to cover it up, and when explaining it, she had to break it down one by one.
"I was pretending! My father was a migrant worker, working on a construction site. He was only 42 years old when he died. I took him to the hospital and the nurse asked him if he was in his fifties. Hahaha..." Lin Sui kept smiling, but his tears never stopped.
"I deserve all of this. I'm vain and didn't let my dad go to the parent-teacher conference. I'm vain and spend a lot of money every month. I want branded clothes for every piece of clothing. My dad hasn't rested even for a single day for me, and as a result, his health has collapsed... This is karma."
Lin Sui's voice was very soft when he said the last sentence, with a tone of resignation.
"I've been looking for you for a long time. Are you here catching up with President Qin?" Zhou Dang stood at the balcony door, glancing at the two people and asked with a smile.
Lin Sui wiped away her tears and walked past Qin Chen towards Zhou Dang.
"Don't go."
Suddenly, Qin Chen grabbed Lin Sui's wrist. He turned around and repeated it again.
"Don't go."
Lin Sui's tears came again. Zhou Dang walked over, grabbed Lin Sui's other wrist, and looked at Qin Chen with a smile.
"Boss Qin is drunk. This is my wife. Your fiancée is still running around in the banquet hall for your company."
Qin Chen's eyes flashed, and the hand holding Lin Sui obviously loosened. Lin Sui shook his head, broke free, and followed Zhou Dang out.
"go home."
Zhou Dang walked out the door with a cold face, holding Lin Sui in his arms. Lin Sui was like a puppet, letting him take her wherever he wanted.
She had already sold it to him anyway.
Qin Chen stood behind them, watching them get into the car and leave. He felt that what Lin Sui had just said was too much information, and he needed time to digest it.
He was in a mess, staggered a few steps, and almost knocked over the champagne tower. Fang Zhiyou thought he was drunk, and hurried over to help him. Qin Chen saw Fang Zhiyou's worried face and suddenly felt that everything seemed wrong.
He pushed Fang Zhiyou's hand away, rubbed his temple, and said, "I'm too tired today. I'm leaving now. You can go home by yourself. Sorry."
After saying that, he strode towards the door and finally even ran.
Another boss who knew Qin Chen asked Fang Zhiyou what happened to Mr. Qin. Fang Zhiyou quickly smiled and said, "Oh, he had an urgent matter at the company, so he went back."
As he spoke, his eyes were still looking in the direction Qin Chen left.
Her intuition told her that the matter must be related to Lin Sui, but now she was really powerless. She turned to look at the CEOs of Qin Chen's partners. These were all people she needed to protect for Qin Chen, and these were the cards in her hand.
So she put on a proper smile again, walked towards Vanity Fair in high heels and holding a glass of champagne.
Lin Sui was stuffed into the car by Zhou Dang, and the car drove out.
Zhou Dang sneered without saying a word, and the driver didn't even dare to breathe. Lin Sui knew that Zhou Dang was angry, but she couldn't care less now. Let him do whatever he wants.
Sure enough, when they arrived at the villa, Zhou Dang directly pulled Lin Sui out of the car. Lin Sui was wearing high heels and could not keep up with Zhou Dang's pace at all, and almost sprained her ankle.
"Slow down!" Lin Sui shouted.
Zhou Dang looked back and saw Lin Sui bending down and covering her ankle, and subconsciously asked, "Twisted your ankle?"
"Almost." Lin Sui moved his ankle. Fortunately, it was not serious, just a twist.
"There are so many things to do." Zhou Dang stretched out his hand and picked up Lin Sui horizontally.
Then he went straight into the house and went upstairs. Lin Sui was thrown onto the big bed in the master bedroom by Qin Chen. Lin Sui was like a dead fish, without any struggle. If Zhou Dang wanted to force her, it didn't matter. What difference did it make if it was once or a hundred times?
Zhou Dang stood by the bed, glancing at Lin Sui's face. He took off his suit, threw it casually, and began to untie his tie.
"Did I go at the wrong time? If I were any later, would you two have reconciled and hugged each other?"
Lin Sui looked at the ceiling and murmured, "Maybe."
"Oh, what? Next you want to divorce me and turn around and fall into the arms of your old lover, right?"
Lin Sui shook his head woodenly, "I haven't saved enough money to pay you back."
"Isn't your old lover rich? Why is he unwilling to spend this little money for you?" Zhou Dang laughed.
"I don't need his money. This is for my father's medical treatment. It should be paid by me. I don't need to use anyone else's money."
Lin Sui laughed. "You all say I'm stubborn, and I admit it, but I will stick to this matter to the end. I won't divorce you until I save enough money to pay you back."
Zhou Dang's heart suddenly trembled, followed by a sharp, stabbing pain. This feeling was unfamiliar to him, something he had never experienced before. He pulled a cigarette from his pocket, lit it, and took a puff. It seemed to ease a little. He sat on the lazy couch beside the bed, puffing out a cigarette.
"What's so good about Qin Chen? He's capable, but that's all. He's handsome, but I'm not bad either. My family is better off than his. Besides being ten years older than him, I can't find any way I'm worse than him. Besides, being ten years older isn't necessarily bad. Aren't mature men more attractive?"
Lin Sui didn't bother to pay attention to Zhou Dang's shocking remarks and was still in a daze.
"Honestly, it's not like I can't change. As long as you're devoted to me, I've already grown tired of all those other girls out there. Wouldn't it be nice for us to have two children and live a good life together?"
Lin Sui burst into tears again without realizing it.
What a perfect life, everything sounds good except that she doesn't love Zhou Dang.
"What's the point of loving or not? Isn't that what life is all about? Can you possibly get anything? How many people pursue wealth and power in their lifetime? I don't believe in the saying that love is enough to satisfy all. You just haven't experienced hard times with Qin Chen. Don't think you can still have a good life with him now. I can't kill him!"
Lin Sui turned to look at Zhou Dang, he didn't look like he was joking.
She suddenly felt that everything she had struggled for seemed meaningless.
"Why bother? You don't love me, so why not let me go?"
Lin Sui no longer had the strength to roar.
Zhou Dang smiled and said, "Who said I don't love you? Maybe I love you very much, but I didn't realize it."
