Chapter 60: A sudden turn of events

Lin Sui walked out of the company gate with a big bag in one hand. She remembered that in TV dramas, people in the workplace would hold a cardboard box when they resigned. Looking at herself again, she found that the paper bag was a temporary one and there was almost no space for her cups, tea bags, pillows, etc.

Fortunately, she drove all the way to Hemu, feeling suddenly enlightened.

Everything seems to be solved. This is life. It gives you countless slaps in the face and then gives you a sweet treat, tempting you to move forward and forget the pain.

Arriving at Hemu, the secretary addressed her respectfully, calling her "Miss Lin." She was taken aback. How did she know she was being laid off? Then she felt like laughing. She was a little paranoid. It must have been Qin Chen who greeted her. Miss Lin was definitely more respectful and friendly than Reporter Lin.

She nodded to the secretary and turned to walk towards Qin Chen's office.

Qin Chen was taking a nap, sleeping on the sofa in the office, his brow furrowed. Lin Sui carefully walked over and covered him with a blanket. With just this light movement, Qin Chen opened his eyes.

"Coming?" Qin Chen's voice was hoarse.

Lin Sui nodded, turned around and poured him a glass of water.

"Drink some water. I can see that you didn't get enough rest last night. You have two big dark circles under your eyes." Lin Sui sat next to Qin Chen and handed him the cup of water.

Qin Chen took it, took a sip and put it down again.

"Are you here to explain your own logic to me?" Qin Chen went straight to the point.

"Yes and no." Lin Sui kept the question in suspense.

"What's the meaning?"

Lin Sui smiled and moved Qin Chen's face over to face her. She raised a finger and slowly slid it down from Qin Chen's forehead.

"Do you think God also thinks that we should be together?" Lin Sui's fingers rested on Qin Chen's beard, she looked up and looked into Qin Chen's eyes, she said with a smile.

"I was laid off, and the compensation I received was just enough to pay Zhou Dang back."

Qin Chen was a little confused. He asked, "Really?"

Lin Sui nodded.

"That's great! Sui Sui!" Qin Chen hugged Lin Sui tightly. Both of them felt difficulty breathing, but neither of them wanted to let go.

"What about you? What did you say to Fang Zhiyou? Did it go well?"

Qin Chen froze. Lin Sui realized something was wrong and pushed Qin Chen away. "What's wrong? She doesn't want to?"

Qin Chen blinked, his face unnatural, "She's pregnant."

Lin Sui couldn't believe his ears, "What? What are you talking about?"

"She's pregnant." Qin Chen rubbed his eyebrows and repeated.

"I knew it..." Lin Sui murmured. She knew that everything would not go so smoothly. God would never stand by her side. She should have known that.

"Don't worry, I will let her have an abortion and then compensate her." Qin Chen's tone was heavy.

"If you don't want to, we can raise the baby." Lin Sui said.

"Really?" Qin Chen looked at Lin Sui in surprise.

"That's fake." Lin Sui looked into Qin Chen's eyes. "I just said that. I won't raise someone else's child. If you can't bear to let her go, you can continue to be with her."

Qin Chen was stunned by Lin Sui's expression change in just over ten seconds. His head hurt even more. Is every woman so difficult to deal with?

After a pause, he said, "I don't want a child. If we wanted, we could just have one. But it's still a life, and I can't help but feel guilty."

"I understand."

There was silence.

Lin Sui and Qin Chen leaned on the sofa, neither of them spoke. The two were silent for a long time, probably thinking about the same question.

The arrow is on the string, should we shoot it?

Sunk costs, can they really afford it?

"Or, let's just forget it." Lin Sui said first. She couldn't bear to be an executioner and indirectly end a child's life.

"Don't talk nonsense, just get through this period of time. You can start preparing for divorce. I don't think it will be smooth for you." Qin Chen sighed.

Yes, how could Lin Sui forget that she still had a tough battle to fight.

"Then I'll go first." Lin Sui stood up. She suddenly felt that her extramarital affair with Qin Chen was quite innocent. Apart from a kiss, they had only hugged each other afterwards.

"Well, feel free to contact me if you have any difficulties."

Lin Sui nodded and walked out of Hemu.

She told herself that tonight was the time. Since Qin Chen had already made up his mind, she couldn't be a coward. She would have a showdown with Zhou Dang tonight.

She decided to cook for Zhou Dang one last time, so she went to the vegetable market and bought a lot of vegetables like an ordinary woman. She went home and worked hard in the kitchen to make four dishes and a soup.

They are all very light, which suits Zhou Dang's taste.

Sitting at the dining table, Lin Sui looked at the layout of the villa and suddenly sighed. In five years, she seemed to have never taken a close look at the villa. She probably never thought of it as her home deep down in her heart.

Zhou Dang returned on time, at six o'clock sharp, and his car pulled into the garage and parked. As he entered, he saw Lin Sui sitting at the dining table, and he suddenly had a bad feeling.

He smiled and said, "Why, the sun is rising from the west today? How do you have the leisure time to cook?"

Lin Sui walked forward, took the coat from Zhou Dang's hand, and put it on the sofa.

She pointed to the bathroom and said, "Go wash your hands and come eat quickly."

Zhou Dang sighed.

After washing their hands, the two sat at the table and looked at each other. Zhou Dang picked up his chopsticks and picked up a piece of bitter melon and pork stir-fry.

"Not bad, it tastes good, you are a good cook."

Lin Sui nodded proudly, "Of course, I've been cooking since I was a child. Don't look at my age, but I'm very experienced!"

Zhou Dang smiled awkwardly and nodded in agreement.

"Zhou Dang, have I never told you about my past life?" Lin Sui was in high spirits today. Without waiting for Zhou Dang to speak, she started talking on her own.

"You know my dad and I depended on each other, but you probably didn't know that before he got sick, my life was actually pretty good. I had 5,000 yuan a month for living expenses, which was quite a comfortable living for a college student. Back then, everything I bought was very expensive. I wouldn't even consider clothes that cost less than 500 yuan. Later, as you know, God couldn't stand me sucking my dad's blood, so he took him away."

Lin Sui poked at the rice in the bowl.

"Sometimes I wonder, have my lives been hard these past five years? It doesn't seem that hard at all. Thanks to you, I live in a villa and don't have to rent a house. Although I don't make much, I can save some every month. I'm still far from a truly hard life. You brought me all this, and I should thank you."
