The days passed quickly, and it was already late June. There was only a week left until Lin Sui's due date. She was ready to take maternity leave early. Standing in Gu Yuan's office, the two looked at each other.
"Are you going to give birth so soon?" What Gu Yuan actually wanted to say was that if he took such a long break, the two of them wouldn't be able to see each other again.
"It's so fast! I've been thinking about it day and night." Lin Sui smiled as she looked at her belly.
She felt that this was a good time as it was not yet the hottest part of summer and it was not particularly hot. She felt in her heart that her children still cared about her.
"Normal birth or caesarean section?" Gu Yuan asked.
"Of course it will go smoothly. It seems that natural birth is better for the health of the baby." Lin Sui was talking to an old friend.
Gu Yuan knew that Lin Sui would definitely not be able to take care of him now, so he simply approved the maternity leave and gave it to Lin Sui.
"Come back soon."
"No, stop showing off your capitalist face." Lin Sui took the leave note and walked out of Gu Yuan's office with a smile.
On her last day at work, she treated Jasmine and Lily to dinner. They didn't eat anything expensive, so they just found a nice restaurant downstairs from the company.
Lin Sui understood that if she invited them to a very luxurious restaurant, they would probably see more of a show of wealth. She had restrained herself a lot recently and no longer spoke to them as openly as before.
The three of them clinked glasses with tea instead of wine.
"I wonder if your boss will hire again after you go on maternity leave," said Lily.
"It's okay. Mai Sui is so rich now. The worst that can happen is that I just quit." Jasmine added.
Lin Sui smiled and said, "I'm protected by the law. What do I have to be afraid of? Don't worry, I'll be back after my maternity leave."
She will not give up her job, even if the money she earns now is no longer enough for her. She always believes that work is a way to prove that she is still valuable. Although some people may not need this kind of proof, everyone swims in his or her own pool throughout his or her life. She doesn't care about others, she needs to prove her own value.
After dinner, Zhou Dang came to pick up Lin Sui to take home. When he saw Lily and Jasmine, he greeted them with a smile. The two exchanged glances, and the meaning was the same: Damn, this guy is so handsome.
As they drove back to the villa, Lin Sui kept smiling. Zhou Dang glanced at her and said calmly, "I think you are very motherly now."
"Really?" Lin Sui asked with a smile, "Is this the mother smell everyone is talking about now?"
"What's this mommy-daddy-sounding stuff? I don't know what you're talking about." Zhou Dang couldn't keep up with the trends on the Internet at all.
Lin Sui laughed to death, "You're out."
"Impossible, you will never be out of date if you have money!" Zhou Dang said arrogantly.
"Okay, don't forget what to do tomorrow morning." Lin Sui suddenly put away his smile.
"Um."
Tomorrow is the day Zhou Dang and Wen Yue will get their divorce certificate. Zhou Dang originally had a good plan: after getting the divorce certificate with Wen Yue, he would get a marriage certificate with Lin Sui, but Lin Sui disagreed.
She thought it was too dramatic and wanted to wait until after she gave birth to the baby.
Zhou Dang also felt that this kind of thing didn't seem very auspicious, so he simply followed Lin Sui's idea.
The next morning, Zhou Dang went out early. He made an appointment with Wen Yue at 8 o'clock. Almost as soon as the Civil Affairs Bureau opened, he went to get the divorce certificate. This was the time agreed by Wen Yue.
When Zhou Dang arrived, he found Wen Yue already waiting at the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau. She had lost a lot of weight and was wearing a long floral dress. Her long, straight black hair fell to her waist, making her look very gentle and cool.
When she saw Zhou Dang, she smiled, with the corners of her mouth raised, but her eyes were as calm as water.
"You're here so early." Zhou Dang made small talk.
"Well, I couldn't sleep, so I went out early." Wen Jing's voice was calm and emotionless.
"The air in the morning is nice and not too hot." Zhou Dang continued the conversation.
"Yeah." It was obvious that Wen Yue didn't want to say more.
The two people walked into the Civil Affairs Bureau silently. When the staff saw them, they looked a little surprised. They had seen people coming early in the morning to get married, but they had never seen anyone coming early in the morning to get divorced.
The two of them quietly received their divorce certificates and walked out of the Civil Affairs Bureau under the watchful eyes of the staff. At the door, Wen Yue extended her hand to Zhou Dang generously, "Let's shake hands."
Zhou Dang held it and inadvertently saw that there was something like tape stuck on Wen Yue's wrist. He frowned.
"What happened to your wrist?"
"Nothing." Wen Yue pulled her hand away.
She smiled and took a deep breath, "I heard your wife is about to give birth."
Zhou Dang nodded.
"Congratulations." Wen Yue smiled palely.
"I only found out about her child after you and I got married. Neither she nor I thought she would be pregnant." Zhou Dang wanted to explain. After all, Wen Yue had just lost her child, and he wanted to make her feel better.
"It's okay, it's all over." Wen Yue's eyes turned red. She looked up at the sky and forced back her tears.
Zhou Dang suddenly felt that Wen Yue was as thin as a piece of paper, as if she could fly away at any time.
"That's it, I'll go first." Wen Yue turned around first.
"Take good care of yourself." Zhou Dang instructed Wen Yue from behind.
Wen Yue froze for a long moment before she replied, "I will, and you too."
She slowly walked away, like a butterfly flying away. Zhou Dang stood there, watching Wen Yue's back until she took a taxi and left.
He felt sad. One should not feel guilty towards others, otherwise one will never feel good in the rest of his life. He finally understood this truth. During this period, he had not seen Wen Yue, and his happiness was very specific. When he saw her today and found that she was not doing well, the pain in his heart came out.
Zhou Dang sighed, found his car and drove away.
Little did she know that Wen Yue had been standing on the other side of the road from the Civil Affairs Bureau. Her car circled around and came back. She didn't know why she did this, but she probably just wanted to say goodbye to this marriage properly.
During this time, she hadn't gotten a full night's sleep, suffering from insomnia until dawn, only getting two hours of sleep each day. Her weight had dropped dramatically, and fearing her parents' worries, she was living alone in a house in the city. Her father had threatened to commit adultery even at the cost of his life when she divorced him. Although she tried to dissuade him, she secretly hoped her parents would actually do something.
However, after Zhou Dang gave his father some business help, his father let it go and even said that he listened to her advice.
Haha, she has always been called the most favored little daughter in the family and the apple of their parents' eyes. Only she knows that her parents' apple of their eyes will always be money, and she is just the personality of their beloved daughter.
