Chapter 57: Rescue Cinderella Let’s go home
This happened too long ago, and Gu Zhi felt there was no need to bring it up again.
If he could go back on time, he would put aside his sensitive, teenage self-esteem and continue to go to the crew to find her like a spoiled child.
Although he didn't say it, Jiang Ziyi was actually looking forward to Gu Zhi's visit to the set.
She would jog to a position where Gu Zhi could see her, then walk up to him with dignity and listen to him talk about what happened at school, nodding or frowning with a strong sense of involvement.
As the date of leaving the country approached, both of them were worried about the upcoming separation.
Gu Zhi's withdrawal reaction was to leave his own traces around Jiang Ziyi;
Jiang Ziyi's desensitization method is to prepare in advance for the fact that he will leave forever.
They shouldn't have lost contact at such an important moment, Gu Zhi thought with some regret.
"It's okay. Even if you are Pinocchio, your nose will only get a little longer." Jiang Ziyi thought he was still reflecting on the little lie he had told.
Gu Zhi was amused by her wonderful metaphor.
Jiang Yanhuan asked Yu Huating "Which stage of life is the happiest?"
"Not now anyway." Director Yu's voice was filled with grievance.
"Can we sign a 'mutual non-marriage treaty'?" He stretched out a tentative hand towards Du Xiaofang with trembling hands.
"Remember to watch the show when you go home tonight." Du Xiaofang sighed and held his forehead.
Wang Zihe's question was: "What is the most thoughtful thing you have ever done?"
He told a story in incoherent terms about how Luo Pan cried herself to sleep due to postpartum depression and how he covered her with a quilt every night.
Jiang Yanhuan's interview ended and the recording finally came to an end.
The Yu Du couple are going to City C to attend the college film festival. Luo Pan and Wang Zihe are going back to their hometowns. Jiang Ziyi and Gu Zhi are returning to City S along the same route. They all say goodbye at the airport.
Walking to the VIP exit, the blue and orange banners blend into a bright ocean, dotted with sparkling lemon yellow in the middle.
After being guided by the two, the fan leaders of both sides actually knew that the relationship between Jiang Ziyi and Gu Zhi was much better than the rumors. Except for a few toxic fans, Jiang Si and Qian Zhihe kept to themselves most of the time.
But they had never stood together so closely as they did now.
"Do you have a pen?" Jiang Ziyi skillfully took the stack of posters and cards from Dafen [Ginger Ale].
"Oh, here it is." [Ginger Ale] handed a bag full of fan letters to her sister, quickly turned around, and motioned for her to take out a marker from the outermost pocket of her backpack.
Jiang Yiyi's fingers touched a cold metal badge. She spread the cloth flat and found two cartoon animals, a fox and a cat, pinned to [Ginger Ale]'s backpack:
The fox smiled and made half a heart with his paw. The cat turned his face away coldly, but the curve of its tail just completed the heart.
"You climbed the wall?" Jiang Ziyi lowered his voice, "Then don't dance in front of me, it's hurtful."
"What?" [Ginger Ale] touched his back in confusion, "Oh, this is made by the Zhi Zi Zhi Hand fan site, the black cat is you, and the fox is Gu Zhi."
"See that biggest yellow flag? The pattern on it was painted by the same lady." [Ginger Ale] motioned for her to look into the distance.
On a soft cloud, the fox and the black cat were sitting head to head, each holding one side of a heart-shaped pillow.
The fox's left eye was slightly open, and it seemed like it was pretending to be asleep.
Not to mention, one can indeed see some of Gu Zhi's charm.
Jiang Ziyi cast an affirmative look at the lady who was holding up the flag, and [Director of the Fox-Cat CP Observation Bureau] blushed with excitement.
Jiang Ziyi signed autographs and chatted with fans.
"Are you all fans of 'Holding Your Hand'?" She discovered that most of the Jiang fans were carrying CP products.
"The food my wife produces is so delicious."
"Just looking at their looks, they are a perfect match."
"There are too many sweets, and I got them if I wasn't careful."
"After watching two episodes, I couldn't help but start to laugh."
"I always disliked Gu Zhi before...Okay, I admit that I was too pretentious."
Everyone talked at once.
Gu Zhi beside him was writing a to signature for the CP fans of "Holding Your Hand".
A flag of a fox and a cat sleeping in each other's arms was also passed to him.
"These two little animals... I seem to have seen them on Huahua's schoolbag." Gu Zhi raised his eyebrows slightly.
Jiang Ziyi was worried that he hadn't yet realized that this was their cartoon character, and was about to go over to explain.
Gu Zhi specially picked up a white paint pen and signed his name on the belly of the sleeping little black cat.
He also noticed that the fox secretly opened its eyes and drew a small highlighted heart in its vertical pupils.
It was sold so naturally that [Director of the Fox-Cat CP Observation Bureau] almost fainted.
"Would you like to sign too?" Gu Zhi handed her the pen with a smile.
Jiang Ziyi wrote "Gu Zhi, stupid liar" on the fluffy fox tail.
The ginger silk and paper cranes were passed around, and the sound of "tsk tsk" could be heard one after another.
"We're getting ready to leave. It's easy to catch a cold these days because of the cold weather, so remember to wear something thicker." [Jiang Hongtang] handed the canvas bag filled with fan letters to Jiang Ziyi and reminded him.
"You too," Jiang Ziyi rubbed his stiff face, "If you are not in a hurry to leave, go to the cafe at the subway entrance and sit down. I'll ask Alex to order hot drinks for you. Please help take care of those who live far away and the young ones, and persuade them not to come over in the future..."
At times like this, she was always gentle and thoughtful, even a little nagging.
“Sister, please think twice about divorce.” Gu Zhi’s big fan [Hundred Paper Cranes] said to her seriously.
"Don't get divorced, your husband is willing to do anything." Another big fan [Roll Paper] quoted Gu Zhi's drunken words.
"..." Jiang Ziyi could only smile at them.
She felt her hand lighten; it was Gu Zhi who took the canvas bag away.
"Let's go home." He was wrapped in a dark gray scarf, and his eyebrows were as soft as frost and snow that were about to melt.
Two figures, one black and one white, stood in front of the car.
The one in black was wearing a suit and had a pair of calm dead fish eyes under his silver-framed glasses.
"Just leave it to me." Agent Alex took Jiang Yiyi's suitcase.
"Did you have fun?" she asked like a parent picking up an elementary school student from school.
"Happy...happy?" Jiang Ziyi found it difficult to summarize his feelings.
"I think he's pretty happy too." Alex opened the car door for them.
The one in white is wearing all trendy brands and has a shaved head, with a beaming smile on his baby-sized face.
"Brother, sister-in-law, I miss you so much!" Agent Chen Bokang turned around in the driver's seat. He looks only in his twenties, but in fact he is nearly forty and is the father of two children.
Gu Zhi has become accustomed to his pretending to be young.
"Didn't I tell you to just send anyone to pick me up?" The heater in the car was turned on very high, and Jiang Ziyi's eyelids soon began to droop.
"This is more of a ritual." Alex said in a very human way.
"How is Robert?" Gu Zhi adjusted the seat back.
"Hey, it's full of energy," Chen Baikang snapped his tongue crisply, "It plays well with Dr. Huang and has fun on the lawn every day."
"'Doctor Huang'?" Jiang Ziyi suddenly opened his eyes, "Robert is sick?"
"'Doctor Huang' is the name of my golden retriever," Alex explained.
"When did you get a dog?" Jiang Ziyi asked his agent.
"Five years ago." Alex adjusted his seatbelt.
"Then why didn't you ever tell me about it? Otherwise, you would have made an appointment to play with Robert a long time ago." Jiang Ziyi knew very little about her private life.
"You didn't ask." Alex's voice was flat.
Jiang Ziyi: ...Hello? Apply for manual transfer.
"We'll take you to Meihe Apartment first, then I'll go to Marshmallow Entertainment, Mr. Gu and Mr. Chen will go back to the studio, and then we'll meet you at the entrance of Meihe Apartment." Alex checked the itinerary in the car. She has always handled her job impeccably.
"Well, I need to go get something myself." Jiang Ziyi nodded.
Jiang Ziyi is currently a contracted artist of Marshmallow Entertainment. Her boss is Sun Tianlong, the son of the chairman of the well-known model agency SQ.
Sun Tianlong is a loyal fan of girl groups. He founded Marshmallow Entertainment with the main purpose of cultivating girl idol groups.
Jiang Ziyi was signed into the company as a result. She found the contract relatively loose, the basic salary generous, the boss had a serious case of chuunibyou but was not a bad person, and with the support of SQ, the company had great fashion resources, so she signed the contract without much hesitation.
Room 405 of Meihe Apartment was originally the dormitory arranged by Marshmallow Entertainment for Jiang Ziyi. It had two bedrooms and a living room, and was shared by her and a member of a female group.
Sun Tianlong has a lot of enthusiasm but no experience in running a girl group. The "Marshmallow" girl group became obscurity soon after its debut. After all the members ran away, Jiang Ziyi lived alone for some time and used the money he saved to buy this apartment.
That was Jiang Ziyi’s first real “home” in his life.
She didn't have to worry about the landlord knocking on the door, being suddenly driven out, eating and showering quickly, or being afraid of chopsticks falling on the table or the sound of the chair rubbing against the floor.
Every corner of this house was decorated by Jiang Ziyi herself. She can recognize the shape of every chipped tile and peeling wall.
Jiang Ziyi liked this home very much. Even after she got together with Gu Zhi, she was reluctant to move out.

"Don't open the door too wide." Jiang Ziyi turned around and reminded, her expression very serious.
Gu Zhi carefully followed her into the house and discovered that in the narrow entrance behind the door, there was a nutcracker more than one meter tall hidden.
"What is this...?" From the perspective of residential traffic flow, this layout is simply inhumane.
"It's a guard, so it has to stand at the door." Jiang Ziyi said seriously.
She placed the key on the Nutcracker's tall black military cap and took out two pairs of slippers from the shoe cabinet next to it.
Jiang Ziyi’s shoe cabinet is not even as tall as the guard. It looks like a house, with the chubby cotton slippers pressed at the bottom of the house.
"The Wizard of Oz?" Gu Zhi guessed.
"No, those are the feet of the house." Jiang Ziyi straightened the high heels that were falling like dominoes.
Sitting on the sofa are a teddy bear wearing a bow tie and an elephant with a pink trunk. In front of them is a set of brightly colored polka-dot teapots, as if they are having a tea party.
Gu Zhi walked around the center of the living room, not knowing where to sit.
Jiang Ziyi moved two small stools from behind the TV and placed them next to the sofa.
She squatted in front of the coffee table and poured water into the cup, like the pink elephant's maid.
"Let's live together." Gu Zhi had the urge to rescue Cinderella.
