Chapter 104 Cousin Zhang Yuqing

After lunch the next day, Chunxiao took a piece of coarse cloth and a piece of fine cloth and went to Yan Dashan's house. Unexpectedly, Zhou and the others had already returned, and several of them were sitting in the shade of the yard to enjoy the cool air.

She saw her cousin Zhang Yuqing and her two children, and finally understood what her father meant.

"Dad, Mom." She walked over and looked at the thin woman sitting there with her head lowered. "This, must be my cousin."

The woman raised her head and looked at her. She looked 50% similar to Yan Erni, but her facial features were softer than Yan Erni's. She didn't have that sharpness, and her face was a little sallow. The two children leaned against her and were particularly quiet.

"Yuqing, this is your cousin Chunxiao. Do you remember her? You haven't seen her in many years."

Chunxiao took out a bag of snacks she had brought back from town that morning and handed it to the two children. "Here, your cousin will treat you."

The younger child stretched out her thin hand, then suddenly retracted it and glanced at her mother. The older child just looked at her without saying a word.

Chunxiao suddenly felt a little sad. She opened the snack bag and stuffed a handful into each of the two children's hands. "Eat it. There's more at my cousin's place. If it's not enough, I'll give you more."

"Thank you, cousin." The eldest spoke first, showing his white teeth.

"Thank you, cousin." The younger one quickly put one in his mouth and then smiled.

Chunxiao brought a stool and sat opposite. "Cousin, I have a lot of cloth. I'll give you two pieces to make clothes. Look, the child's clothes are shapeless and his shoes are torn. It's time to make him two more sets."

"You guys continue chatting, I'm going to the field." Yan Bingfa left.

"Did you marry into the village?" Zhang Yuqing finally spoke, probably because she was curious about Chunxiao.

"No, I got divorced and settled down in the village. I live at the end of the village."

Zhang Yuqing's expression finally showed some fluctuations. She stammered for a while but said nothing in the end. She looked up at the yard where she was and suddenly burst into tears.

"Yuqing, don't cry. The dead cannot be brought back to life. You still have to live your life. You have to think about your two children."

"Aunt, I was wrong. It was my fault. Why did I go to find my mother? I should have come to find my uncle. In this way, Fang Quan would not die. It was me who killed him." Tears of regret flowed uncontrollably.

"You, don't blame your mother entirely. She didn't have any money at the time and had to borrow 20 taels from us to get through. We were also at fault. We should have asked your mother about your situation at the time. Things were urgent at the time and no one paid attention to it."

"Aunt, you don't have to say anything good for her. She had about ten taels of silver, but she later took it back. In her heart, there will always be only her son's place, not me. She has no place for me in her heart."

Seeing her crying so hard, Chun Xiao took her hand and said, "Cousin, everyone has their own hardships. Just get through it. Look at me. When I divorced, I took five taels of silver home, and now I'm living a good life. Take a break and come visit me. I live in a remote place, but it's a big place. I have a lot of chickens on my land. You can go there and feel better."

Chunxiao handed the cloth in her hand to her arms, "Here, my father said that you should stay a few days longer when you come. We are going to harvest grain and cotton soon, and we are short of manpower. You came at the right time." After saying that, she looked at the two children, "You two should eat more recently. When the time comes, you should also help your cousin pick cotton. Your cousin is in need of help."

"Aunt, my brother and I both know how to work."

Chunxiao touched Mu Ming's head and said, "Really? Well, I need your help with something. Your aunt is going to make chicken soup for you later, and she asked me to catch the chickens. But the chickens there are running too fast, and I can't catch them. Go and help me, or you won't have any chicken soup to drink tonight."

When the two children heard that they could drink chicken soup in the evening after catching a chicken, they nodded quickly and said, "We'll help you catch it." Their lively expressions finally showed some childishness.

Chunxiao looked at the sun and said, "Mom, when the sun goes down a little, I'll take my cousin to sit with me."

"Okay, let's get familiar with the door so we can find it later."

At 3 p.m., Chunxiao took Zhang Yuqing and the two children to the end of the village. Villagers greeted her along the way, and Zhang Yuqing looked at her in confusion.

Chunxiao told her from a distance before she reached the fence that the fenced area ahead was her residence.

"Look, isn't it very remote? It takes two sticks of incense to walk to my mother. They thought it was not a good place for me to live at first, but later they envied me so much because it was a bit quiet."

"You are living on such a large piece of land by yourself, won't the villagers say anything?" Even if it is a small place, it is unlikely.

Chunxiao smiled and said, "I've bought all the land inside and am now growing cotton there. You'll see when you go in." She waved to the two children and said, "Catch whichever chicken you choose. Catch the older ones, and leave the younger ones alone."

"Cousin, you have raised several chickens. If you catch them and eat them, won't there be any big chickens left?" Mu Ming asked worriedly.

"My cousin has more than 100 chickens here. I'm not afraid of you catching them."

The group walked to the fenced yard, and Chunxiao opened the gate to let them in. Zhang Yuqing took a look and saw the field covered with white flowers, and then the house in the middle. "You have so much land?"

"Come in, take a look inside."

Meiman saw them enter the yard from afar and ran over from the edge of the field. "Miss, the cotton bolls in our cotton field are almost ripe. I think we can start picking them in two days."

She saw the person next to her and called her "cousin".

This address startled Zhang Yuqing.

"Cousin, Meiman is a family member who was bought to do the work. There is another one called Xingfu. She stayed up all night last night and is resting now."
