"I heard it from my second brother." Chunxiao shook Zhou's hand. "Mom, what do you mean?"
"What could I possibly mean?" Zhou suddenly became anxious. "I don't know the child well. He's handsome, but he said both his parents are gone, and that he only came to Pengdong with your help."
Zhang was also watching her from the side. "Little sister, this matter is really a bit sudden. Without the eldest sister-in-law here, we can't make the decision. What do you think my mother and I should come up with?"
"Mother, sister-in-law, to tell you the truth, I asked him to come here today."
"You asked him to come?" Both of them were shocked.
"Yeah, didn't you all say that Shufeng was acting strangely? I thought about it carefully, and the only one who could have frequent contact with her was this guy, so I tricked Shufeng a while ago, and it really worked. Look, he came back today, probably because he heard what Shufeng said and came to my place. I said I couldn't make the decision, so I asked him to apologize to you first, and then go to Qingzhou to propose marriage. From the looks of it, he should be planning as I said."
"You kid, you didn't even warn us ahead of time, and you scared us. When he came, he knelt down in front of us, saying that he shouldn't covet our daughter and that he wanted to marry Shufeng. I asked him a few questions and then let him go. I really don't know him well, so I'm not sure."
"Little sister, you are familiar with them, tell me if this guy is capable or not."
Chunxiao nodded. "I think it's feasible. He's very down-to-earth and never relies on others. Look, he's bringing up his sister on his own. Now he has enough money to buy a house. Although he can't compare to us, he's young after all. Ability is the most important thing. Most importantly, he likes Shufeng, and Shufeng likes him too, right?"
After hearing her say this, Zhou felt more at ease. "I knew you could definitely help make a decision. Since you think it's feasible, then it should be a good idea."
"Then mother, my sister-in-law is not here now, how are you going to answer him?"
"Listen to Chunxiao and let him go to Qingzhou to propose marriage. We agree, but it mainly depends on your eldest brother and sister-in-law."
"It just so happens that I haven't been back to Qingzhou for a year, so I'll go with him."
"I'll go back with you, too. Shufeng will naturally follow. I'm afraid I'll have to leave the shop here to you, the second son's wife, for a while. If not, you can transfer someone from the farm."
"What about Shuwen?"
"Forget about Shuwen. It's just a proposal, not a marriage. We don't know what the outcome will be. What if your elder brother and sister-in-law have other ideas in their minds? If the matter is settled, the marriage may not take place so early. By then, not only Shuwen but the whole family will have to go back." As they were talking, there was a noise coming from the back door of the main hall, followed by hurried footsteps.
Zhang covered her mouth and smiled.
"How come this child has no sense of shame at all?" Zhou was helpless with her.
Zhou's attitude was determined, and Yang Huaitian soon learned the news and was extremely happy.
Lian Xiaoxue was very happy. She knew that there was something unclear going on between her brother and Shufeng. She didn't expect that she would soon have a sister-in-law.
After this incident, Zhou called Shufeng back from the store, saying that she wanted to avoid suspicion. Yang Huaitian came to find Shufeng again and asked about the departure date. He now knew that he was anxious and said that he would take Xiaoxue with him this time.
Chunxiao counted the days and it was already late March, so she told Yang Huaitian to leave on the last day of the month and asked him to sort out his business and follow their carriage.
She told Meiman that she would go back to visit at the end of the month, but the specific return date was uncertain, so she asked her to continue to look after Zhuangzi.
At the end of the month, Yang Huaitian drove Dahe's large carriage and set off with five people. Xiaohua looked at the people in the carriage and whispered to Chunxiao, "Miss, they are all so nervous."
Chunxiao glanced at her sideways and smiled, "Mom, if you're not comfortable sitting here, you can pull the stool out a little wider and lean against it. There's a layer underneath that can be widened."
"It's okay. I've only been sitting for a while and I'm already tired. What should I do later? I'm still in good health." She looked at Xiaoxue who was sitting next to Xiaohua. "How old is Miss Xiaoxue this year?"
"Grandma, you can just call me Xiaoxue. I'm one year younger than Shufeng, and I'm 16 this year."
Mrs. Zhou really liked this little girl. "You are so pretty, little girl. I heard that you and your brother are from Sanchuan County. Are you not going back now that you have left? Has your brother told me where you will settle down in the future?"
Shufeng glanced at Xiaoxue and then looked out the window as if nothing had happened. Chunxiao was trying to suppress her laughter. She must have been feeling uncomfortable the day before.
"My brother said that if we can settle down in Qingzhou, then we should do so. He said that since we don't have a home now anyway, if my uncle and aunt are willing, we can buy a piece of land in Sister Shufeng's village and build a house. That way, Sister Shufeng will be close to home and won't have to miss home so often. We will all be Qingzhou people in the future."
Zhou was particularly satisfied with her answer. She glanced at Yang Huaitian, who was driving the carriage outside, and said, "Does your brother really think so? Then he would become a live-in son-in-law."
"That's what he really said, grandma. This isn't a live-in son-in-law either. My brother said he can make Sister Shufeng live a good life with his own abilities. So this isn't a live-in son-in-law either."
Xiaoxue's voice became weaker and weaker as she spoke. She didn't know if the old man would be unhappy if she said this, and her brother was outside and couldn't help.
Chunxiao felt that she probably touched Zhou's heart. Although Zhou didn't say anything else, there was a smile in the corners of her eyes and eyebrows.
Two days later, the car arrived in Sanchuan County. Shufeng asked them if they wanted to go to the farm to find Shuwen. After thinking about it, they decided to do it. Now they were in a hurry to go back, so it would be better not to delay on the road. That night they stayed at the largest inn in Sanchuan County.
