"I understand. I'll get it myself." Chunxiao put the backpack in the corner of the room, took out the bowls inside and went to the kitchen.
"Where did you get this axe?" Zhou lowered her head and saw what was in the backpack.
"I borrowed it from someone." Chunxiao didn't want to explain too much and answered casually.
"You're quite capable. You've only been back for a short time and you're already borrowing things from others. This axe looks quite new. Who did you borrow it from?"
"Oh, why is there so much meat in my bowl? You haven't finished the meat from lunch yet." Chunxiao came out with the bowl.
"You mentioned this and I should have scolded you. Your sister-in-law said you told her to give all the meat to the children, right? I told you guys don't know how to live. Just buy the meat. Who would cook a whole pound of meat for one meal like you? Even a landlord wouldn't dare to live like that."
"I cooked all the meat at noon, and my mother scolded me a lot." Tian walked to her side and said softly.
"I'm sorry, sister-in-law." Chunxiao apologized hurriedly, then turned to look at her mother. "I told sister-in-law to cook the whole thing. Every time we eat meat, it's cut into cubes, and the flavor is gone. If you want to eat it, it should be cooked in big pieces. There are so many people in our family, and a pound of meat is not enough for each person to eat a bite. Please don't mind it, mother."
"I'm not being picky, I just think it's such a waste to eat like this, and it hurts me."
"That's enough. We've already done it and eaten it. There's no point in talking about it anymore." Yan Bingfa advised.
"Mom, although Chunxiao is a bit extravagant, it is all for the sake of her children. Please don't say anything." Yan Dashan also spoke.
"You guys, forget it, I won't say anything more, you're a bunch of losers."
Chunxiao's bowl was filled with several large pieces of meat. She called the little ones over, asked them to open their mouths, and gave each of them a piece.
"Auntie, the meat is delicious."
"Don't feed them, just eat by yourself. They have already eaten. There are only a few pieces in total. What's there for you to eat after you feed them? You guys go and play." Tian sent the children away.
"Sister-in-law, I chopped a lot of wood today. I'm afraid I'll be busy all day tomorrow and won't be able to help in the fields."
"It's okay. We have enough people working in the fields, and the soybeans at home are almost harvested."
She looked at Zhou again and said, "Mom, I will cook for myself from now on. I won't come here unless necessary. Please pick two cabbages for me when we leave."
"Okay, you can start the fire yourself. I'll go pick some for you now and pick two radishes by the way." After saying that, Zhou went to the vegetable garden.
Chunxiao finished her meal and sat in the yard to digest it. The children began to change and wash. Zhou put the cabbage and radishes she had picked into her backpack. "We have plenty of vegetables at home, but they won't fetch much. If you come here to pick them, your vegetable garden won't be able to recover in a short time."
"I understand, mother. I'll go back then. There's a pot at home, so I can boil water and wash it myself."
Zhou sent her out of the yard.
