I don’t know if they were lucky or God heard their cries, but it was drizzling and snowing all day long. The snow was like snow seeds and not heavy. The next day was the same. Xiaohua then kept chanting to herself every day.
On the third day, the rain stopped and slightly larger snowflakes began to fall. "It's already this heavy, please don't let it get any heavier. We still have two days to reach the village. If we want to rest, we have to wait until we get there."
Although it snowed all day on the third day, they were still able to travel smoothly. On the morning of the fourth day, the ground was covered with white.
"Xiaohua, the snow is getting heavier. Why don't we just rest here?"
"Miss, let's keep going. The snow isn't heavy yet. If I'm careful on the road, we can reach the village by evening. If we stay here and the snow doesn't stop, and something unexpected happens, we won't be able to move forward or backward, which will be very troublesome." She pointed to the road, "Look, there are cars on the road."
Chunxiao actually wanted to keep going, as arriving at the village at night was the safest way. "Okay, let's keep going. Be careful on the road."
The road was white and the horse was indeed a little slippery when walking. She didn't dare to drive the horse too fast. Fortunately, it was just a slight slip. When they arrived at a place at noon, there was a pothole covered with snow. Xiaohua didn't pay attention and almost overturned the car. Fortunately, the car stopped after a violent shake for a while.
"Miss, our car's wheels are stuck in the mud. Please wait, I'll go down and push the car out."
"How can you do it alone? I'll go too."
The two of them got out of the car and started pushing it forward, but after pushing for a long time, there was no movement. "I'll push from the back, Xiaohua, you drive the horse and let it pull forward."
The two of them used all their strength to get the car out of the mud pit, and Chunxiao's shoes were wet.
She gave Xiaohua a helpless smile and said, "On a day like this we should be staying home and relaxing by the fire, but we're still rushing here. Don't you think we're miserable?"
She returned to the carriage and began to change her shoes and socks.
Xiaohua continued on her way, "Miss, this isn't miserable. Don't you think this is quite interesting? Driving a carriage in the snow, how many people have had such an experience?"
"You're quite good at finding joy in hardship, very good." Luckily, Xiaohua had prepared a lot of things, including two or three pairs of shoes. She quickly changed into her shoes and socks. "I wonder if we can make it before dark."
"Miss, don't worry, we will definitely get there." Now that they have walked so far, they can overcome any difficulty in half a day. They have now entered Su County.
In the evening of that day, the carriage finally appeared in Fangjia Village. The ground was now completely white, and the snow was falling heavier and heavier.
"Miss, we're finally here." Xiaohua was almost moved by herself. She didn't expect that she finally did it.
"Look over there, young lady! It seems our village has built a special road leading to the outside. We don't have to go around the village anymore." She smiled excitedly, "There's even a gate at the front."
Chunxiao opened the curtains and looked out. "They really built a road. This is not bad."
The carriage arrived at the checkpoint, but there was no gatekeeper. They had to get off the car to call for help. If they had known earlier, they would have gone around the village. They were stopped at the door.
"Miss, please wait for me in the car. I'll ask someone to open the door."
Xiaohua got out of the car and shouted twice, but still no one showed up. She raised her voice and shouted a few more times until her throat felt sore.
Finally, a few people came out from the yard in the distance, and she waved and called out to them.
Those people started walking, and gradually they started running. One of them probably slipped and fell, which made Xiaohua anxious.
"Miss, look at them. What's there to worry about? They've all fallen down."
"Don't shout! The more you shout, the more anxious they'll get. Just wait here for them to come over. They look close, but they still have a long way to go. I thought you wouldn't respond, but you actually did."
"It's so quiet on a snowy day, but it's a little far away. How come there's no one to watch over us when we're stuck here?"
"Who would have expected us to come back in such a snowy day? It would be foolish to stay here in the snow."
They waited for almost an incense stick of time before the people from the other end came up to them. "Why are you the boss?" The three of them were surprised. "We just saw someone calling over here but couldn't see who it was. It turned out to be Miss Xiaohua." They opened the door and Xiaohua drove the carriage in.
"Close the door and get in the car, Xiaohua. This road only has a short distance to go. Be careful and don't overturn the car in front of your house and make a fool of yourself."
"Miss, don't worry. Even if you flip over, they won't dare to laugh at you."
Several people got on the car, each wrapped up so tightly that Chunxiao could only see two of the women. "We finally made it to the village in the snow. If we hadn't arrived earlier, we would have been stuck on the road."
"Boss, Miss Xiaohua, you are really brave. It's so dangerous to travel outside in such heavy snow."
"The snow wasn't this heavy yesterday, it only got heavier today. I thought if I was careful I'd be able to get there, but I didn't expect my gamble to fail. It's easier to do anything if I stay in my own farm."
"Boss, are you cold?"
Chunxiao smiled and shook her head. "I'm not cold. Look how warmly I'm dressed. I'm wearing more than any of you. How's the harvest at the farm this year?"
When talking about the harvest, everyone laughed, "The harvest is good, very good. We paid more than 50,000 kilograms of cotton tax. Even the county magistrate came to our place."
"The county magistrate is here. What are you doing here?"
"I came here after I paid my taxes. The cotton harvest was almost over by then. I asked about the cotton production. When I found out I hired people from three villages, I praised Nineteen. I was so happy at that time."
