"Soak in water?" This was the first time Wangzu heard that soaking was necessary before planting.
"When I saw her soaking the seeds, I had the same reaction as you. I thought the seeds would spoil if they were soaked overnight. But then look at the cotton seedlings behind us. They are growing fast and densely. It's really good. If you believe me, try it. If not, just do it the same way as before. They will eventually sprout anyway."
When the two heard this, they actually ran to the back of the field to take a look.
When I came back, I was a little shocked. “How come cotton is being planted now?”
"So soaking helps the seeds germinate quickly. You can trust that. Chunxiao has read a lot of books and hasn't planted much, but she knows more than us."
Chunxiao felt a little embarrassed by her father's compliment. "It's time to go back. Dad, I'm going to town with my second brother tomorrow. Do you have anything to bring? Remember to ask Uncle Wu for a table."
"Nothing to bring. What are you going to town for tomorrow?"
"I'm going to buy some food and some paper. We need some paper for accounting at home."
"When we harvest wheat in the second half of the year, we can use some of it to exchange for refined rice. Then we won't have to buy grain anymore."
After work, everyone in the family except Zhou left.
In the evening, Zhou sat in her room making a spring shirt for Chunxia. "The colors of these two pieces of fabric are really pretty. They will definitely look good when made into outerwear."
Chunxiao sat next to her mother and said, "Mom, we were busy making charcoal before and had no rules, so we asked you to help with the work. Now that we don't make charcoal anymore, I think you should go back to live there, otherwise Dad will say something after a while."
Zhou sighed, "I was thinking about going back these days. I've been so comfortable living with you for so long that I don't want to go back." Zhou smiled, "I've been here all day, so I don't spend much time over there."
"When I build a new house, I'll set up a room specifically for you and Dad. Then you can live however you want."
"When did you think of the house?"
"Let's wait until April or May when we're not busy. By then we'll have over a hundred taels of silver and can build a big, nice brick house."
Zhou looked at the current house and said, "This house is actually quite okay to live in." The house had only been under construction for a few months, and it would be a pity to demolish it.
"Of course there's no problem living there, but the room is too small. Look, we can't even put it in the utility room. Where are we going to store the food and cotton in the future? This thatched house will easily deteriorate over time."
Zhou thought about it and realized there really was no place to put it. "Just do it. Figure out what kind of design you want. I'll talk to your father about this as well. Ask him to inquire about the materials for the brick house in advance."
