Chapter 66 Spring Plowing

"Yeah, your father is really arrogant. He wanted to use the cow but I had to bring it to his door without even asking." Yan Bingfa said jokingly, "Hurry up and plow the land at home. We won't lend it to you when we need it."

"Thank you, Uncle Bingfa. I'll plow the fields at home and come back soon. There are people at home who can do the sowing. It will only take two days."

"Well, remember to come back at 9:00 PM to lead the cow, and come back in the evening. Also, make sure to feed my cow well, don't let it starve."

Dongsheng saw Yan Bingfa looking at him and quickly stood up straight. "Uncle Bingfa, I'll schedule it for the day after tomorrow. It will only take one day."

Yan Bingfa smiled and said, "Alright, that's it. Let's get busy. We still have a few days to work in the fields."

The next day, a light drizzle began. The river flowed quickly, and Wangzu came to retrieve the cattle. The family continued transplanting the seedlings. Yan Bingfa and his men had agreed with the butcher that if it rained heavily, they would go every other day. Each trip would yield about 140 kilograms, and the cattle would be needed every other day. On busy days like these, they tried to pick up the cattle once a day.

Fortunately, it rained lightly in the next few days. When Dongsheng returned the cow on the second day, all the cotton in the house had been transplanted.

The family started soaking and sowing wheat seeds and plowing the land.

These past few days, Zhou's lunches have been either steamed buns or steamed bread, or even pancakes with egg soup. Just as she said, she's doing whatever's most convenient, and no one has any objections, especially Wangzu and Dongsheng. The food they eat at Zhou's house is much better than at their own. It's mostly fine noodles and refined rice, with the occasional mixed-grain rice. Sometimes, they feel a bit guilty about eating it, since they eat so well every day while their family only has to eat porridge.

These days it has been raining and sunny, with no fixed weather. Only then did she realize that Qingming Festival is approaching.
