Chapter 71 The Matchmaker Arrives

When the other party heard that they were sincere about wanting to build more than one, they immediately and warmly welcomed them into the house and asked their daughter-in-law to pour them tea.

"Master Zhong, I heard that your company has the best reputation in our town for building houses, so I came to you. You have to give me a real price."

"Don't worry, big brother. We're trustworthy. Once we take a job, we'll definitely do it well. There's no need to ruin our reputation just for profit." He took the blueprint and looked at it again. "Your drawing is quite clear, but the dimensions of the house are not specific. I still need to see if the land is big enough to build on."

"This place is definitely big enough. I can't say much about the proportions of the house, so I'm afraid I'll have to trouble you to take a look as soon as possible. This house belongs to my daughter, so you can ask her directly when you get there. After seeing it, you can make a plan on what to prepare."

Master Zhong looked outside the yard and said, "How about you two stay at home for a while? I'll finish the work over there and then go back home with you guys. That way you can prepare in advance. I can start work right away after I finish my work here."

Yan Bingfa nodded quickly to indicate that this was the best approach.

After Master Zhong left, Yan Bingfa asked Dashan to go to the agreed intersection to find Dahe and ask someone to drive the ox cart over to pick him up later.

When Yan Bangfa led his men back, Chunxiao and the others had just finished working in the fields. They were called back by her father and found out that it was the builder who had been invited back.

Master Zhong walked around the house and asked, "Where does the boundary of your land deed end?"

Chunxiao smiled and told her that all the land within the outer fence was her homestead. The house and the surrounding vacant land were about two acres.

The master, though surprised, didn't show it. He simply smiled. This was a good thing for them, considering they'd met a wealthy village lord. He pointed to the blueprints and confirmed the house's size with Chunxiao. Chunxiao took him inside to look around, telling him that the five rooms in the front should only be half the size of the current one, and the two rooms in the back should be twice the size of the current one. Then he took her to see the kitchen, which needed to be enlarged, ideally two or three times the size of the current one, so they could build two stoves later.

After knowing the size of the house, Master Zhong asked her how big the courtyard wall should be and whether brick walls should be built in the front and back. She checked the size and gave a ratio on the drawing and was very sure that brick walls should be built. The front yard and the house should be paved with stone slabs, but not the back yard.
