The next day, they got up and headed straight for the farm in the suburbs. They didn't need anyone to tell them the way. She found the place by following the scent of flowers.
Only when I got there did I realize that the scenery was not only pleasant, but also a rare beauty in the world.
The hundred acres of land were full of colorful flowers. There were many people who looked like farmers watching the fields. They were not the only ones who came here to enjoy the scenery. There were many carriages parked on the roadside, which seemed to have attracted many talented men and beautiful women.
"Wow, auntie, this is so beautiful!"
"Your reaction is a bit slow. You're only reacting now."
"I was so shocked just now that I couldn't think of how to describe it. This is as spectacular as your cotton fields."
This silly boy said, "How can this compare to the cotton field? The cotton field is far inferior to this." They walked along the edge of the field, the air filled with the fragrance of flowers. It was a pity that such a beautiful scene could not be photographed.
"Auntie, you said that all this land is used to grow flowers, but these flowers can't be eaten. What a waste."
"Perhaps the owner of the village is rich and wants to plant some beautiful flowers."
A young woman walking nearby smiled and said, "I think you two must have just arrived from out of town. This farm is very famous here. The owner is in the rouge and powder business. They own the largest rouge shop in Sanchuan County."
Chunxiao was embarrassed and thanked the woman who was explaining her problem. She turned out to be a cosmetics seller. No wonder. They walked around for a while and suddenly found a crowd of people gathered on the road ahead.
"Aunt, there's something going on up ahead. Let's go take a look." Without waiting for Chunxiao's response, Shuwen had already pulled the carriage forward. Before he got there, he heard the sound of quarreling.
"You little thief, I finally found you today. You're so brave that you even dared to steal the flowers from our fields and sell them."
"Oh, stop it, it's just a few flowers, and you see marks all over both of their bodies."
"My dear readers, you may not know that this is not the first or second time they have stolen flowers. They are incorrigible. If we don't teach them a lesson, there will be another time. It's not easy to grow flowers here."
Shuwen couldn't get close with the horse, so he had to jump up to take a look.
Chunxiao walked forward and finally squeezed in. She saw two teenagers squatting on the ground, their clothes torn. The boy was holding the girl in his arms, holding a few withered flowers. She looked closely and saw that this was the duo she had encountered on the outskirts of the city yesterday. How could they have turned into flower thieves now?
"I caught you today, so you have to pay me."
"No, no money. We just picked a few flowers. We weren't the ones who stole the flowers before."
"There's no point in quibbling. Pay the money quickly, or I'll make sure you don't suffer the consequences." After saying that, he waved the whip in his hand.
The onlookers tried to persuade him a few words, but when they saw that he was about to teach someone a lesson, they dispersed.
The boy was about the same age as Shuwen, and at this moment he was holding the girl tightly without moving.
The servant got angry when he saw that they had no intention of paying compensation, and prepared to whip them.
"Hey, little brother, it's just a few flowers, why get angry?"
The servant glanced at Chunxiao and saw that she was dressed decently. "Young lady, I'm afraid you didn't hear what I just said. This isn't the first time they've done this. I have to teach them a lesson."
"It's the first time. It wasn't us before." The boy looked at him stubbornly.
"How dare you stare at me!"
"Brother, brother." Chun Xiao saw that he was angry and hurried forward to smooth things over. "Look, they are injured too. You should forgive them while you can. There are so many people here. It would be bad for your family's reputation if you were to use violence in front of outsiders."
The servant looked at the crowd watching from a distance and cracked his whip in anger. "Today, a guest pleaded for you, so I'll let you go for his sake. But if I find out again, I'll beat you to death."
After saying that, he glanced at Chunxiao and left.
Chunxiao looked at the two people squatting on the ground and sighed helplessly, "Get up, the people have left. Why, you don't want to extort money today but steal flowers instead!" There was more ridicule in her tone than blame.
The boy looked at her carefully and saw Shuwen behind her. His face suddenly turned red and he pulled the girl up. "Yes, I'm sorry!" He recognized her and didn't make any excuses.
"Aunt, they are the two people from yesterday!" Shuwen exclaimed. It was such a coincidence that they met again.
Chunxiao looked at the injuries on their bodies and said, "Where do you live? I'll take you back."
When the boy heard this, he suddenly looked terrified and shook his head repeatedly, "No, I can't go back." The girl shrank behind him timidly.
"Why can't I go back?" Chun Xiao frowned. She was just being kind, but she didn't expect that the other person would not appreciate it.
The boy looked at Chunxiao and pursed his lips. "Aunt, we were wrong yesterday. We lied to you. Where are you going to live? I will pay you back when I earn money."
The word "Aunt" startled Chun Xiao. She glanced at Shu Wen, then at the two of them, and smiled. "Forget it. This was originally a gift for you two. You don't have to return it. Why don't you go home?"
"We are injured and our clothes are torn. Mother will be sad if she sees it. Today is her birthday." The girl finally mustered up the courage to speak.
Chun Xiao looked at the two of them with pity. "Come on, get in the car. Auntie is so kind that she'll take you to see your wounds." Seeing the two hesitate, she said, "If you miss this opportunity, you'll never get another chance again. You don't want your mother to know, do you?"
The two of them then followed them into the car.
Shuwen sat back in the carriage and looked at the person inside. The person quickly learned to call him "Auntie". "Auntie, are we going back to the county town now?"
