The aroma of alcohol wafted towards me, mingled with the scent of a woman.
Shang Wu pinched her nose and backed away: "What's that smell in your room?"
Zhou Yanci's expression stiffened slightly. She sniffed the room twice and said, "I probably drank too much yesterday. The smell is quite unpleasant, and the room is a mess. You shouldn't come in. Let's go downstairs and talk."
He pulled Shang Wu away, closing the door behind him.
Shang Wu didn't even see a glance inside; she was practically dragged away by Zhou Yanci.
She asked, "Weren't you dealing with your friends' fight yesterday? How come you drank so much? The finance department said my account handover requires a key, and you didn't answer their calls."
"I didn't hear you."
Zhou Yanci's palms were a little sweaty. She took out her phone and called the finance department, giving a gentle, slightly ingratiating smile.
"Alright, you can use the money in your account as you like now."
Shang Wu smiled and said, "Okay, then I'll be going now."
Zhou Yanci secretly rejoiced: "See you at the company later. I'll come over at noon, and we'll have lunch together."
Shang Wu remained calm and said, "I have some things to take care of this afternoon, so I might not be at the company."
"It's alright, we'll eat there tonight." Zhou Yanci saw her to the door.
Just then, the upstairs door clicked open.
The two of them stopped at the same time.
Sleepy-eyed, Chenmian rubbed her forehead and yawned: "Aci..."
Zhou Yanci's face instantly turned ugly.
Upon seeing him and Shang Wu behind him, Chen Mian was stunned for a moment, then revealed a guilty and embarrassed expression, and hurriedly shook his head.
"No, Miss Shang, please don't misunderstand! Nothing happened between us!"
Shang Wu could tell at a glance that Chen Mian was doing it on purpose.
No mistress would knowingly venture out to provoke the wife who is already in the relationship.
Is this how you play it?
She had just returned from visiting her brother in prison, still seething with resentment and nowhere to vent her anger.
Shang Wu's eyes turned cold, and she raised her hand to slap him.
Snap!
She slapped Zhou Yanci across the face with all her might.
Zhou Yanci tilted his head.
Shang Wu raised her hand to strike again, responding to the startled cry from the sleeping man.
A slap landed on the other side of Zhou Yanci's face.
Shang Wu used real force, and his hands were shaking from the pain afterward.
She clenched her fists tightly, revealing a perfectly timed expression of pain: "Zhou Yanci, I was so happy to leave myself for you on our wedding night, and you just cheated on me with your ex-girlfriend like this! You've gone too far!"
Shang Wu burst out of the door.
There was no movement from Zhou Yanci behind him, but Chenmian called out to him as he rushed downstairs.
It sounds like he was stunned by the beating.
With a mocking look in his eyes, Shang Wu stepped on the gas and decisively left this disgusting place.
Back at Chengzhou, she immediately took her savings account to Dingfeng.
Less than three days had passed, and Shang Wu couldn't wait any longer.
After much deliberation, she concluded that there was no more suitable partner than Dingfeng Law Firm.
First, Dingfeng and Jinshui Law Firm, which is supported by Zhou Yanci, are competitors.
Secondly, she checked and found that none of Dingfeng's lawyers had participated in the business case back then, and none of them had been approved by Zhou Yanci.
Finally, although Lu Rang is not easy to approach, he has high professional competence and professional ethics. Once a collaboration is established, efficiency is paramount, and he only seeks results without gossiping with clients.
She's practically the best person to exonerate her brother.
Shang Wu felt a pang of sadness when she thought about her brother's situation in prison.
She rushed to Dingfeng in a great hurry.
Upon arrival, the receptionist told Shang Wu that Lu Rang and the other lawyers were out collecting evidence and were not present.
Shang Wu took Lu Rang's business card and left first. As soon as she went out, she received an email.
She opened the file that Qiu Ting had sent her.
Inside are the complete set of winter limited edition design sketches.
It's very much in her style, but the design is a bit rough, clearly something Qiu Ting dug out from her previous drafts.
Qiu Ting called: "Sis, are you alright?"
Shang Wu smiled, opened the car door and got in: "Great job, you're worthy of being my apprentice. But you still have that bad habit of calling me 'sister' instead of 'master'?"
"What master? You're too old to be called that." Qiu Ting laughed, but seemed preoccupied. "Last time was too rushed, I didn't have time to ask you how you were going to get revenge on Ji Yu? What did she do?"
Shang Wu felt a tightness in her chest, and the smile on her face vanished, replaced by a cold hatred in her eyes.
"She leeched off me for ten years. When I was in school, she ate my food, wore my clothes, and used my things. When she got a job, she used my design drafts to achieve success, but behind my back, she criticized my work as vulgar and low-class. Also, she was involved in the trouble that happened to the business back then."
She calmly recounted these events, both to explain them to Qiu Ting and to practice her ability to control her emotions.
Is it painful? Of course.
Remember the feeling of pain; it will become a force that propels you forward.
Qiu Ting remained silent for a long time before finally gritting her teeth and saying, "I will help you. Whatever you need to do in the future, I will help you."
Shang Wu smiled, the hatred in her eyes dissipating: "Wait, when the time is right, you'll have to step in again."
She hung up the phone and scheduled to send the document to Ji Yu three days later.
Just then, an uninvited guest arrived.
Upon seeing "Mrs. Zhou" on the caller ID, Shang Wu paused.
Zhou Yanci's mother didn't like her and even refused to let her call her "Auntie".
Despite disdaining her family's decline, Zhou Yanci insisted on getting involved in the merchants' mess.
Even though she shone brightly in the jewelry department and worked like a slave for Cheng Zhou, Zhou's mother never gave her a kind look.
Zhou Yanci protected her a lot because of this, and even argued with her own mother.
Shang Wu was deeply moved and became extremely loyal to Zhou Yanci, working even harder to prove her worth to Zhou's mother.
Not only did she handle everything in the jewelry department, but she also took responsibility for dealing with partners that Zhou Yanci couldn't handle, resources that she couldn't find, and even the speech draft that was lost before the interview.
