Lu Rang explained: "Marriage certificate."
Shang Wu: "?"
She stared wide-eyed and held up the marriage certificate to look at it.
"It's a family tradition. Getting a marriage certificate with me isn't enough. To gain the approval of the entire family, you have to sign your name on this betrothal document, which is similar to a family tree."
“I’ve been prepared for this for a long time. Once you’ve resolved the merchant’s case and settled things completely with Zhou Yanci, I’ll come to you with the marriage certificate. This is what I told you to sign.”
Lu Rang remained calm and unhurried throughout, but as he spoke, his fingertips became stiff with tension.
"You want me to marry you?" Shang Wu could hardly believe her eyes. The marriage certificate was filled with the signatures of women from Lu Rang's family. The names that flashed by on the first two pages seemed somewhat familiar to her.
Lu Rang asked, "Is that alright?"
Shang Wu took a deep breath and immediately placed the marriage certificate on his lap.
"Your family doesn't agree, so why sign a marriage certificate? Besides, it's a bit too early for us to talk about this now."
Lu Rang's expression darkened slightly; he had long anticipated that she wouldn't agree immediately upon seeing this.
He carefully put the marriage certificate away.
"I didn't expect you to agree now. Let me show you."
Shang Wu was taken aback.
Lu Rang pursed his thin lips slightly: "Is there anything else that's bothering you? Tell me, and I'll comfort you."
Shang Wu looked coldly at Lu Rang.
He wasn't the type to express himself passionately, but he did his best to give her a sense of security.
For this reason, they even brought out the marriage certificate.
Shang Wu couldn't quite explain this feeling.
It's unclear whether it was Lu Rang's actions at that moment that moved her, or whether the fact that he carried the marriage certificate with him, hoping that her signature would be even more touching.
Seeing that Shang Wu was too drunk to speak, Lu Rang went over to help her unbuckle her seatbelt and take her out of the car to clear her head.
But as soon as he got close, Shang Wu quickly turned her face away.
"No, I've been drinking."
Lu Rang was stunned for a moment: "What?"
Shang Wu covered her mouth to avoid getting too close to him.
"I've been drinking, so I can't kiss."
Lu let her unbuckle her seatbelt.
The seatbelt snapped open.
Lu Rang gave a half-smile, looking down at her: "Who told you I was going to kiss you? Get out of the car."
He went downstairs and opened the car door for Shang Wu.
Shang Wu got out of the car with his arm around her arm. She looked around and realized that this was a place she had never paid attention to before.
Standing on the bridge and looking across the river, you can see a row of brightly lit office buildings in the business district.
Even at this hour, the office buildings are still mostly lit up, and everyone is working hard and living their lives.
Just like her.
Shang Wu sighed.
"Lu Rang, who exactly are you? Can you tell me?"
Lu Rang turned his head to look at her, his eyes growing even deeper in the darkness: "I'll explain everything to you properly after everything is over. It's not something that can be explained in a few words now."
Shang Wu said discontentedly, "Then can't you just tell me the whole story clearly instead of just a few words?"
“Not now,” Lu Rang smiled. “I’m afraid you’ll be scared away if you hear that.”
"No, that won't happen," Shang Wu said firmly.
Lu Rang paused slightly, but before he could speak, his phone rang.
He answered the call and immediately switched to speakerphone.
A deep, steady voice, tinged with a sense of vicissitude, came from inside.
"Xiao Rang, we've investigated everything for you. The last member of their gang has confessed, and we can now submit the case to the court for arrest. When do you plan to take action?"
Shang Wu shuddered and her mind immediately cleared.
She mouthed the question to Lu Rang.
"Was that a call from the Inspectorate?"
Lu Rang nodded slightly.
Without hesitation, Shang Wu made a three-point gesture.
Lu Rang said, "The arrest will be carried out in three days. I will coordinate this matter with the court."
He hung up the phone and looked at Shang Wu.
“You can expose Zhou Yanci’s actions and send him to jail. Then, whether it’s Ji Yu or anyone else who helped him, he will be sentenced to life imprisonment.”
Shang Wu was both satisfied and dissatisfied with the answer.
Given the combined severity of his crimes, Zhou Yanci should indeed go to jail.
But she didn't want the other person to just go to jail.
Zhou Yanci had to experience the same harm that her brother and parents had suffered.
Shang Wu asked, "Do you have any influence that you can use against Zhou Yanci in prison?"
Lu Rang: "How do we do it?"
Shang Wu pressed further, "Can you do it?"
“Tell me, and I’ll arrange it.” Lu Rang looked at her leisurely, and seeing that her hand was still outside, he grabbed it and stuffed it into the pocket of his coat.
Warmed by his warm hands, Shang Wu became more and more energetic.
“The drugs he gave my father will continue to be used on him even after he goes to prison. We’ll also arrange for a few guys who like to fight to be his cellmates and teach him a lesson every day. In short, no part of his body will be alright.”
After saying this in one breath, Shang Wu thought for a moment and added, "If he dares to resist, pour chili water into his mouth. The more uncomfortable he is, the better."
After hearing her words, Lu Rang's eyes became full of affection.
He lifted Shang Wu's chin: "So ruthless?"
"Of course we have to be ruthless, this isn't enough yet." Shang Wu had many ideas in her mind.
Actually, what she was thinking about just now wasn't pouring chili water into Zhou Yanci's mouth at all.
Such a disgusting and unfaithful man deserves to have his lower body soaked in chili water to experience the excruciating pain of being worse than dead.
To maintain a certain image in front of Lu Rang, Shang Wu quickly shut her mouth and didn't say anything so rude.
"I've already made all the arrangements. I'll have Zhou Yanci attend a public event in three days, and all the most famous media outlets in the country will be there."
