Just as Shang Wu reached the underground parking garage, her phone suddenly vibrated.
Upon seeing the words "Lu Rang" on the screen, her fingers froze. She took a deep breath and pressed the answer button.
"Hello?"
"Are you off work? I'm waiting for you." Lu Rang's voice came through the phone, tinged with a hint of gloom.
Shang Wu gripped her phone tightly, her tone casual: "I might not be free tonight. My mom wants me to go home, and I also have to work overtime today."
There was a few seconds of silence on the other end of the phone, so much so that her breathing became softer.
"Okay." Lu Rang only said one word, but Shang Wu did not feel relieved.
After hanging up the phone, Shang Wu got into her car and slowly exhaled.
He must have realized it; he clearly saw her deliberately avoiding him, yet he chose not to expose her lie.
And the company's front desk.
Lu Rang dialed another number.
"Help me find out who sent flowers to Shang Wu today."
In less than half an hour, the answer was right in front of him.
Lu Rang saw the name on his phone screen and slowly narrowed his eyes.

As soon as Shang Wu arrived in the company lobby, she saw several receptionists with mysterious smiles and whispering among themselves.
She frowned, subconsciously glancing at her clothes to make sure she wasn't wearing them backwards before asking, "What's wrong? Why are you all looking at me like that?"
One of the receptionists winked at her and said with a smile, "Look over there."
Only after being reminded by her did Shang Wu look towards the company's first-floor rest area not far away.
A stylishly dressed man walked towards her, carrying the same flowers that had been delivered upstairs the day before.
"Miss Shang, did you like the flowers I sent yesterday?"
Shang Wu scrutinized him carefully, making sure she hadn't seen him before, and raised an eyebrow, asking, "Who are you?"
"Let me introduce myself. My name is Jiu Chen. My father, Jiu Liang, is the one who runs the Wanhu Shipping and Logistics Company. You've heard of him, right?" Jiu Chen smiled brightly.
Shang Wu paused for a moment.
What a coincidence.
It turns out he's Jiuliang's son.
At the banquet, she didn't recall Jiu Chen being among the group of wealthy young men. The fact that she wrote on the card that no one wanted her was probably just hearsay.
Shang Wu had no interest in this impulsive and hot-blooded young master, and even lacked the patience to deal with him.
However, considering Jiu Liang and Lu Rang's relationship, Shang Wu patiently explained, "I already have a boyfriend. I'm sorry, I can't accept your flowers. Please don't come over again."
"Who is your boyfriend? Is he as powerful as my family's company? Can he protect you from being bullied?" Jiu Chen subtly straightened her back, clearly showing her dissatisfaction.
Shang Wu gave him a half-smile: "Then you've come to the wrong person. I can protect myself; I don't need to be protected."
Jiu Chen was stunned for a moment, "Then your boyfriend is definitely not as good as me. I think you might as well choose me..."
Before he could finish speaking, his expression suddenly froze, and he stared wide-eyed at the back of Shang Wu, as if he had seen a ghost.
Shang Wu followed his gaze and turned around, only to see Lu Rang standing behind her at some point, impeccably dressed in a suit, exuding an imposing aura.
“Yu… no, Lu Lu, what are you doing here?” Jiu Chen immediately stopped being so nonchalant and stood up properly.
Lu Rang didn't even glance at him, his gaze fixed on Shang Wu.
"Good morning."
Shang Wu bit her lip and nodded somewhat awkwardly when facing Lu Rang after seeing that page of the diary for the first time.
"morning."
Jiu Chen scratched his head, looking at the two of them curiously, sizing them up and down.
Lu Rang then looked at him, his gaze icy: "What are you doing here?"
Jiu Chen's forehead began to sweat. "I... I just returned to the country not long ago. It's an honor to meet you..."
"Hey, what are you doing here?" Lu Rang paused. "And delivering flowers?"
"Ah, no, I meant Mr. Shang..."
"Shang Wu is my girlfriend." Lu Rang's tone was calm, but carried an undeniable warning.
Under the watchful eyes of everyone, the receptionists were all stunned.
They only knew that Shang Wu was not single, but they never expected that the legal advisor who had been frequently seen with Shang Wu recently was her boyfriend.
Shang Wu's heart skipped a beat, and she nodded: "Yes, Lu Rang is my boyfriend."
Lu Rang smiled slightly.
Jiu Chen turned pale with fright and quickly hid the bouquet behind her back. "I...I didn't know! I'm so sorry!"
He bowed, then fled in panic, clutching the flowers.
Lu Rang then turned to Shang Wu: "I have something to tell you."
Shang Wu pursed her lips and led him to the elevator.
As soon as she entered, Lu Rang approached her, bracing himself against the elevator wall with one hand, and held her firmly in his grasp: "Shang Wu, you were avoiding me yesterday, and you were accepting flowers from someone else?"
Shang Wu's heart raced, and she only dared to stare at his Adam's apple: "I didn't dodge, and I didn't accept the flowers."
"Lying." Lu Rang grabbed her chin, forcing her to look him in the eye. "Look at me and say it again, were you avoiding my gaze?"
Shang Wu's eyes were complicated; she didn't know what to say.
After a long pause, she softened her voice and gently took Lu Rang's wrist. "I know you really want me to take you home, but I've been busy lately and under a lot of pressure. Can you give me some time to relax?"
Lu Rang's breathing became slightly labored, and his eyes darkened.
The elevator doors opened.
Shang Wu breathed a sigh of relief and quickly pushed his hand away: "Let's go."
Lu Rang didn't miss her moment of relief. A hint of disappointment flashed in his eyes. He then hooked his fingers around Shang Wu's wrist and pulled her back into the elevator, pressing his lips against hers without giving her a chance to refuse.
The kiss was forceful, as if it were an attempt to take back all the neglect he had endured for the past day and night from Shang Wu.
Shang Wu's chaotic thoughts were silenced by a kiss; she grabbed Lu Rang's collar and responded to him.
